One of the most anticipated tours in American rock music history is currently underway, with Sammy Hagar fronting a super group consisting of Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony, and Jason Bonham, playing David Lee Roth-era Van Halen tracks as well as a swag of Hagar’s own hits. USA audiences are enjoying setlists consisting of Van Halen classics such as Poundcake, Panama, 5150, Why Can’t This Be Love, Jump and more. Completing the picture, they throw in The Beatles’ Helter Skelter and Satriani’s Satch Boogie to the mix. For Australian music fans, an extra cherry on top is the inclusion of Rai Thistlethwayte of Thirsty Merc fame on keyboards playing some of those iconic VH synth lines.

As Joe Satriani told Australian Musician’s Joshua Munday in an interview six months go, to help do justice to Eddie Van Halen’s tone for the tour, Satch and Dylana Scott from 3rd Power Amplification have created brand new Dragon amps to cover all tonal bases. See the interview below
There’s no word on an Australian leg of the tour but let’s keep our fingers crossed.
