It’s great to see yet another young guitarist, who got their start at our Melbourne Guitar Shows years ago, now forging ahead with an established recording and performing career. “DAYDREAM” is the NEW ALBUM from Charlie Bedford, the much anticipated follow up to Bedford’s critically acclaimed 2020 release “Good to Go” which received fantastic reviews and enjoyed chart success here in Australia, the USA and the UK.
With “Daydream” Bedford showcases further his songwriting talents, delivering up a diverse range of styles & sounds. While his previous album had a classic funky rock blues edge, with “Daydream” Bedford gives the listener a more unique & exciting experience.
This well-crafted album full of strong melodies, catchy choruses, and hooks galore still gives a nod to Bedford’s blues/soul heritage, but here we get a broader offering and an insight into Bedford’s many influences. There’s a bit of twang, a bit of rock, some synth pop + drum machines & even a bit of slap ya round the ears, short sharp 90s Ausie indie pop! As Charlie says, “There’s something for everybody and everything for somebody!”
Charlie’s emerging and unique style shines on this recording, he says it was fantastic working on this album with close friend and producer Mark Lowrie. Recorded, mixed & mastered at Guffland Studios, with Bedford and Lowrie playing all the instruments featured.
He says the recording process was a lot of fun, Mark and I work well together and I’m also really looking forward to teaming up again with drummer Tim Anderson (Good to Go) for the live show experience. We had a great live show ready for the launch of Good to Go, back in 2020 but the pandemic derailed those plans, so now we’re super keen to blow the cobwebs off and get these songs out there!
