TICKETS VIA HANDSOMETOURS.COM
Blending Western and Latin American sounds, the dynamic brotherhood of Hermanos Gutierrez are heading to Australian shores next February-March 2025 for a run of debut shows in Brunswick Heads, Melbourne and Sydney.
Tickets on sale Thursday December 5 via Handsome Tours
Bringing their latest album Sonido Cósmico, produced by Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, to Australian audiences for the very first time, fans can expect an odyssey of lush musical soundscapes, imbued with soulful heritage.
Instrumental guitar duo, comprised of brothers Estevan and Alejandro, have created a signature guitar sound forged by their rich cultures, a dialogue between worlds from musicians bound by blood into a singular soul. Inspired by old western film scores and vintage Latin American sounds, the brothers’ new album takes listeners on a hypnotic and sensual instrumental journey through a haunted landscape – where the haze of the desert meets the blue of a Kodachrome ocean.
Leaving behind the desert for the cosmos, Hermanos Gutiérrez present a new sound world, brimming with Latin mystique and otherworldly guitar interplay that “shimmers with hallucinogenic energy” (Rolling Stone)
The brothers have recently supported Leon Bridges and Khruangbin on their massive US tours and their NPR Tiny Desk Performance has amassed over 3.5 million views – watch here
They will also be supporting Khruangbin on their largest Australian shows plus making their Australian festival debut at Golden Plains and A Festival Called Panama.

JAMIE DURRANT ‘Just Let It Go’ (Single)
Jamie Durrant, an influential figure in the Australian indie and alternative music scene, has released his latest single, Just Let It Go. Inspired by the iconic Manchester sound of bands like Happy Mondays, New Order, and The Smiths, the song marks a nostalgic yet fresh chapter in Durrant’s storied career.
A sonic journey back in time, Just Let It Go weaves a tapestry of rich musical textures. It eschews electric guitars for the first three minutes, instead featuring a lush blend of vintage Roland synths, a baby grand piano, and a drum machine, alongside powerhouse drummer Dave Amphlett from the Gold Coast. The result is a vibrant, indie-dirt pop track, teeming with energy and layered with warm, analog tones.
Lyrically, the song is a heartfelt ode to ‘the girl that got away,’ recounting the intoxicating joy of shared memories— drinking wine, laughing uncontrollably, and living in the moment. It captures both the wistfulness of what was lost and the beauty of what was shared.
‘This is the song I’ve always wanted to write,’ says Durrant. ‘It’s deeply personal but also universal—a celebration of those pivotal, fleeting moments that shape us. It’s a love letter to the music that inspired me and the people who made those years unforgettable.’
Durrant’s career spans decades of innovation and influence, starting with his indie rock releases through Melbourne distribution partners Music Land, Shock Records, and MDS in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. From the raw Aussie pub rock of his band Degenerates to the experimental sci-fi progressive rock of Box of Anger, which enjoyed Triple J high rotation in 1996 with Clean, Durrant’s journey has been marked by creative evolution.
His label, Bent Records, has been a launching pad for groundbreaking projects, including:
– Incursion’s Afterglow (1994), over 12 months Triple J high rotation, ARIA Top 5 EP
– Killing Heidi’s Kettle (1995), joint Triple J Unearthed competition winner
– Stealth’s Nighthawk/Ready to Fly (1995), joint Triple J Unearthed competition winner
– The Bent Incubator (2005), funded by Arts Victoria to discover, nurture, record, and release ten new artists, with grunge rocker Lisa Maxwell as a standout.
In October 2024, Durrant released Lost Tapes, an album of previously unreleased songs spanning three decades. The lead track, Different World, was recorded at Melbourne’s iconic Sing Sing Studios with producer Richard Stolz (Tones and I, Tash Sultana, Joe Camilleri).
Beyond his music releases, Durrant shares his wealth of experience through his YouTube channel, Talking Sonics, where he dives into music production techniques. The channel has amassed over a quarter of a million views, offering fans and budding producers an insider’s look into his creative process.
Now, with Just Let It Go, Durrant comes full circle, blending his indie roots with contemporary craftsmanship. The track serves as both a nostalgic tribute and a forward-looking statement, reconnecting fans with the essence of Durrant’s artistry while offering something fresh for new listeners. Just Let It Go is available December 3 all major streaming platforms.

ST KILDA FESTIVAL REVEALS 2025 NEW MUSIC COMPETITION FINALISTS
What do Baker Boy, Missy Higgins, and Client Liaison all have in common? They all got their start as part of the St Kilda Festival New Music Competition.
St Kilda Festival is thrilled to reveal the finalists for the 2025 New Music Competition, celebrating the next wave of homegrown Aussie talent. Now in its 18th year, the competition has long been the launchpad for emerging artists.
Proudly presented by City of Port Phillip, St Kilda Festival returns in 2025 with two days of summer fun on 15 – 16 February. Recognised as Australia’s largest free music festival, St Kilda Festival showcases Australia’s most exciting emerging and established artists. Ahead of the full lineup announcement in January, St Kilda Festival is thrilled to announce the 10 acts who’ll take to the New Music Stage on Big Festival Sunday in 2025. The finalists are:
YARA is a Naarm (Melbourne) based singer-songwriter and producer who migrated from Palestine at the age of 12. Her sound is a melting pot of Soul, Pop, Indie R&B and Jazz, with heavy influence from Amy Winehouse, Lianne La Havas and Beyoncè.
Velvet Bloom (pictured right) transcends genres, offering an otherworldly odyssey through cosmic soundscapes guided by Maddy Herbert, the band’s vibrant lead vocalist and visionary songwriter. Their debut EP ‘Glimmer’ sparked national tours and Spotify playlist success. Appearing on ABC’s Spicks and Specks and selling out shows in prestigious venues around the country, their fusion of soul, pop, jazz, and indie-rock captivates audiences worldwide.
Jamie Lena is an emerging artist from Tarndanya, South Australia, known for her soul-stirring blend of alt/folk music. Her evocative vocals and poignant songwriting delve into themes of introspection, collaboration, and the delicate balance of this human experience. Jamie has been acknowledged for work with the opportunity to play at WOMADelaide 2024, and recognition in APRA’s top 10 Regional Charts for her recent single, Dissolve.
Leroy Macqueen is quickly making a name for themselves with their powerful voice, introspective lyrics and emotional songs. Their live performances are a thrilling mix of undeniable charisma, infectious energy, and off-the-cuff humour that leaves audiences wanting more.
One Spirit Africa crosses various genres such as Afro High-Life, Reggae, Afro-Beats, and Jazz. The band performs with what can only be described as massive engaging energy, reflecting colourful traditional culture costumes. They combine Ghanaian lyrics with English language, fusing African rhythms in a vibrant percussive style, whilst the traditional West African drums create an amazing dance-vibe.
Mansplainers are a fresh voice on the indie-rock scene, with members being inner-city high school students drawing inspiration from artists Merpire, Carla Geneve and Wet Leg.
Name UL is a hip-hop artist originally from New Zealand, who blends introspective lyrics with genre-defying production. Known for his reflective storytelling and dynamic stage presence, he has toured across Europe and the UK, supporting artists like Chance The Rapper and Mac Miller.
R.em.edy is a genre-blending chameleon reminiscent of early Doja Cat and SZA. Known for her raw honesty and advocacy for artists like herself with disabilities such as ADHD, autism, and POTS/EDS, R.em.edy is on the rise. With over three million streams and support from Australian icon Illy, who she opened for on his ‘The Long Way Around’ tour, R.em.edy is proving that unsigned means unstoppable.
Dyan Tai makes electronic hyperpop music fused with Beijing opera and Southeast Asian soundscapes as the self-described Gaysian Empress of Sydney. Named as one of the outstanding acts to watch at BigSound 2023 (NME) and praised by Flume for their “sound design” (Triple J), Dyan makes sophisticated palette pop (Rolling Stone).
Dizzy Days (pictured right) has ignited the scene with their disco-dance pop anthems that resonate with young and old fanbases alike. This fiery four-piece band crafts a unique sound that stands out from their contemporaries and artists surrounding them alike.
According to Sullivan Patten, St Kilda Festival Lead: “Once again, the New Music Competition has been a huge success, receiving 330 entries from a wide range of incredible artists from across the country, which is a testament to the quality of emerging talent we have on our doorstep. The judging panel had the unenviable task of selecting just 10 acts from the overwhelming level of impressive submissions we received to perform at St Kilda Festival in February.”
“The New Music Stage is always one of my choice destinations on Big Festival Sunday. If you are looking to discover your new favourite artist, I’d recommend spending some time at the New Music Stage getting acquainted with the emerging soul, pop, indie, hip hop, disco and rock artists performing,” said Sullivan.
The artists performing in the New Music Competition are vying for a $5,000 cash prize and a coveted spot performing at the festival in 2026. Last year’s winner, Mudrat, will perform on the Catani Gardens North Stage at 4.15 pm on Big Festival Sunday.
St Kilda Festival’s diverse program features live Australian music, dance performances, workshops, community group activities, food and market stalls, extended business trading, roving entertainment and a dedicated family-friendly stage. Renowned as one of Australia’s largest and longest running free music and cultural events, the Festival brings significant economic benefits to St Kilda while celebrating and promoting Australian talent. The Festival has seen many formats since its inception more than 40 years ago and currently runs across two-days comprised of First Peoples First, a celebration of First Peoples music, culture and community on Saturday, followed by Big Festival Sunday, the traditional St Kilda Festival day that brings the whole suburb to life. The event regularly attracts more than 350,000 visitors to the foreshore each year.

MIA WRAY ‘Fake A Smile’ (Single) Announces tour dates
Melbourne based, singer-songwriter powerhouse Mia Wray shares another cut from her highly anticipated debut album in ‘Fake A Smile’. The new song arrives alongside a huge run of tour dates for fans in Australia, and throughout the UK and Europe, which will see Mia perform 17 shows across AU, EU & UK. The tour celebrates the release of Mia’s debut album hi, it’s nice to meet me.
One of the more tender, introspective moments from Mia’s forthcoming debut album hi, it’s nice to meet me (out March 14, 2025), ‘Fake A Smile’ touches on Mia’s ongoing mental health struggles.
“This is more about the mental health side of things, which I have struggled with a lot. Especially from being signed to a label and having management, more people invested in the business and the project… I naturally feel the pressure to keep shit together and do the job. Put on the smile. Putting on the smile, doing the show, and then the curtain closes and you’re like, “How much longer can I keep doing this for?”
“I struggle a lot with body image; I hate the fact that my face and my body is the product, and that I have to sell that. But I’ve accepted that it’s just part of the job… It’s the mental health journey behind being the image and being my own boss; having people who are financially and emotionally invested in my career, trying to keep it together so it works out.”
WATCH: Mia Wray – Fake A Smile (Official Visualiser)
‘Fake A Smile’ follows the release of current single and the album’s (nearly) title track ‘Nice To Meet Me’, which has resonated with fans since its release last month, already notching up hundreds of thousands of streams on DSPs. The song has been added to triple j locally, spun on BBC Radio 1 in the UK and received online love from DORK, The Line of Best Fit, Rolling Stone and more.
Mia’s debut album hi, it’s nice to meet me viscerally details her journey of the past few years over the course of 12 songs. The album is an introduction to the real Mia – the artist herself. A striking pop record in the most contemporary of senses, it encompasses a variety of musical influences; from beautiful indie-folk and soul-drenched rhythms, to straight up club-ready pop energy. Including the hits, ‘Tell Her’ and ‘What If’, the album explores the chaotic, bewildering and often euphoric narrative of Mia meeting and ultimately embracing her true self for the first time.
“It’s all a bit of a blur, the whole realising that I was probably queer. The first thing I had in my notes was that I felt like I was saying hello to myself for the first time in a really long time. “Hi, it’s nice to meet me” just kept coming up in my brain as a theme. I thought it was cool and unique, I hadn’t really seen that around a lot. It felt right. It was a real slap in the face like, “Oh that’s who I am, that makes sense…”
hi, it’s nice to meet me is an uplifting, empowering and wholly relatable listen, delivered with a sense of fun, but a sense of relief as Mia arrives at a place of pure comfort within herself as an artist, and as a human; a true album for the ages.

EDITH ‘Irrelevant Enemy’ (Single). EP Everything I’ll Always Remember (Out 2025)
Indie-pop powerhouse edith returns with her latest single, ‘Irrelevant Enemy,’ a vibrant anthem exploring the fine line between resentment and obsession. Released via Mandatory Music, this track gives listeners a glimpse into edith’s upcoming EP, Everything I’ll Always Remember, slated for release in 2025.
‘Irrelevant Enemy’ combines sharp lyricism and catchy melodies to capture the raw emotion of confronting an unhealthy fixation. With lines like “I’m wasting my own energy, on an irrelevant enemy,” edith speaks to the emotional toll of navigating personal conflicts that linger longer than they should. Beneath the infectious chorus lies a message of self-awareness, empowerment, and reclaiming energy from people and situations no longer worth the time.
“I love the juxtaposition of this song as having an enemy is the opposite of someone being irrelevant,” edith shares. “It’s both cathartic and humorous. The idea is to reclaim your own peace and laugh at how something so petty can seem so consuming.”
Download ‘Irrelevant Enemy’ Now
The song’s lyrical narrative offers biting commentary on the tension between public perception and personal truth. Through verses that reflect frustration—“They try to rewrite my story, but spite bites, you know what consent is, right?”—and playful sarcasm in the bridge, edith exposes the bruised egos and insecurities masked by conflict.
Musically, ‘Irrelevant Enemy’ merges upbeat indie-pop rhythms with lush production, balancing vulnerability and wit with danceable beats. edith’s distinctive vocal delivery elevates the song, blending sweetness with a bite that feels both playful and provocative.
With previous releases earning her critical acclaim, edith’s music continues to capture moments of emotional authenticity while resonating with fans of contemporary indie and pop alike. Her unique ability to blend sharp storytelling with catchy hooks makes her one of the rising stars to watch.
‘Irrelevant Enemy’ is now available on all major streaming platforms. edith’s forthcoming EP, Everything I’ll Always Remember, promises to explore themes of identity, relationships, and self-discovery in even greater depth.

PRESS CLUB ‘Wasted Days’ (Single)
With only a couple of shows remaining from what has been an epic 44 date national trek around Australia supporting Grinspoon, independent Melbourne four piece, Press Club have released a new single, ‘Wasted Days’. Crafted earlier this year, the track began when the band’s drummer, Frank Lees, recorded uninhibited drum takes, forming the song’s energetic foundation. Lyrically, vocalist Natalie Foster matched the intensity: exploring themes of rebirth and liberation, exploring past discomforts and celebrating new experiences.
With a slight stylistic shift, ‘Wasted Days’ showcases the band’s signature sound, blending hard-hitting guitar melodies, vocal finesse, and the rhythmic brilliance of bassist Iain MacRae.
MacRae reflects on writing and recording ‘Wasted Days’. “Maybe it’s a little more simplistic than other Press Club songs, but it just had this really liberating energy from the very start. We didn’t want to short change the song’s positivity when we were coming up with a concept for the music video. We really wanted to keep that essence of positivity alive. We decided to team up with our longtime mate and collaborator, Nick Manuell to capture us wasting days together. We went out and did daft things. We spent a day in a 1966 Mustang convertible, hired a boat, just genuinely had a laugh. I think myself and the band particularly appreciated these leisure days, because we’re in the middle of a 44 date, 11 week tour. So blowing off some steam and not taking life too seriously was beaut!”
Lead singer Natalie Foster speaks to the filming of the clip, “this is by far the funnest clip we’ve ever made. From shooting in the grandstands of rodeos and soccer fields mid tour to driving a mustang and renting a boat in our home city, this clip was nothing but good vibes to shoot”.
As with the band’s October release, ‘Champagne & Nikes’, ‘Wasted Days’ was recorded at the band’s own studio in Footscray with guitarist Greg Rietwyk on production and mixing, before the track was mastered by Kris Crummett (Closure in Moscow, Dune Rats, Currents)
Press Club are Natalie Foster (vocals, guitar), Greg Rietwyk (guitar), Iain MacRae (bass) and Frank Lees (drums). The band’s most recent album, Endless Motion debuted at #3 on the AIR Independent Label chart, landed Album of the Week at Double J and was nominated for Best Independent Punk Album at the AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Assoc) Awards.

ASHLEY NAYLOR ‘A Blue Sky’ (Single)
Ashley Naylor – guitarist for The Church, The Stems, Paul Kelly, the RocKwiz Orkestra and a host of others, and guitarist, songwriter and singer of beloved Melbourne band Even – continues the new phase in his career with the surprise release today of the new solo song “A Blue Sky”.
“A BLUE SKY” IS AVAILABLE NOW FROM ASHLEY NAYLOR’S BANDCAMP A Blue Sky | Ashley Naylor
“A Blue Sky” is the second preview of Ashley’s next solo album, and follows “Donovan Dreams”, an ode to the legendary ’60s Scottish psychedelic folkster Donovan (“Mellow Yellow”, “Hurdy Gurdy Man”, “Sunshine Superman” etc.), While “Donovan Dreams” continued in the heady tradition of Naylor’s sublime work on Even’s massively-acclaimed double album Reverse Light Years, the new single is a more plaintive and highlights Naylor’s superb 12-string guitar and way with melody.

PINKY RING ‘China White’ (Single)
Having thrown themselves into 2024 with a full slate of music and projects to deliver, Sydney indie group PINKY RING is continuing to hurtle through into the end of the year with the release of new single, ‘CHINA WHITE’.
The single, taken from PINKY RING LIVE EP,which is out now is a fitting addition to an ever-growing catalogue of dynamic music that traverses emotion as easily as it does great lyricism and a clear passion for tight melody and arrangement. A breakup song at its core, ‘China White’ captures the energy of wanting to throw oneself into vices that only offer temporary relief from heartache.
“‘China White’ was written a few hours after a long term relationship ended, I couldn’t think of anything to help other than get absolutely cooked. The verses are me telling myself it doesn’t mean anything to me and the chorus is the realisation it actually does.” SAMUEL VICKARY, PINKY RING
Recorded at DefWolf Studios, PINKY RING laid the thick live energy of the band’s hectic shows on the studio recording. Matching the ferocity and emotion behind the lyrics, ‘China White’ is carried by songwriter and vocalist Vickary, while being fleshed out by the talented instrumentalists that have formed a tight live group in recent years.
Threading this similar energy into the live EP recording, PINKY RING have left nothing on the table with the creation of this music. The heart, sweat and pure euphoric connection between artist and music is evident.
“I took the whole song written over two chords in my book to our friend Tom Joseph’s house and a few hours later we had a fully shaped song demo recorded. After that, I was super excited about it. When it came time to actually record it, we decided to do it live and harness the energy and anger of the song.” SAMUEL VICKARY, PINKY RING
Since making their debut in 2022, PINKY RING has evolved into one of Sydney’s most exciting new names. Easily one of the city’s hardest working new groups, PINKY RING have released a streak of projects including this year’s No More Parties In Sydney, Bruschetta and Anzac Day records. They have supported the likes of South Summit and The Slingers, while also continuing to craft an enviable headline presence of their own.

MOMI x HATCHIE x RAY MANG ‘My Name Is Nobody’ (remix EP)
Off the back of their debut album MOMI001 (released in September 2024), MOMI have teamed up with Ray Mang to drop a vibrant remix EP centred around the track ‘My Name Is Nobody’ featuring friend and Australian singer-songwriter Hatchie performing on vocals and named after the Henry Fonda western film of the same name.
“Our 12” versions were inspired by bands extending their own tracks for DJ usage and long form reworks by legends like Francois K and Shep Pettibone. Ray Mang was a long-time favourite of ours and we thought he would enhance the DFA Records style punk funk influences we were going for on the original- he didn’t disappoint.” – MOMI
Ray Mang takes us into the night with his reimagined remixes of MOMI & Hatchie’s ‘My Name Is Nobody’, an extended rework that brings back the nostalgia of 90’s disco house alongside a funky spaced-out dub mix. Mang is a DJ / producer / artist / remixer who has been making his mark in the world of dance music since the mid-90s. His percussion heavy sound as both a producer and DJ is rooted in disco, house and boogie whilst encompassing influences from genres across the board.
Following its release, MOMI001 was included in Bandcamp’s New and Notable section & weekly radio and saw adds across Spotify and Apple Music’s Alternative & Indie featured playlists.
