SALMON BROTHERS ‘More To Love’ (Single) ‘More To Love’ (Album out August 16)
After a thrilling debut with the release of two effervescent singles ‘Fools Can’t Tell No Lies’ and ‘Coming Up for Air,’ Nick Meredith, on behalf of Salmon Brothers, announces the release of their third single, ‘More To Love,’. This track is the precursor to their highly anticipated album of the same name, scheduled for release on 16th August via Dot Dash / Remote Control Recordings. The project has garnered widespread support across the industry, building eager anticipation for the full length album next month.
‘More To Love’ captures the vibrant energy of Salmon Brothers, reflecting both their musical synergy and their deep friendship. Inspired by a couple who appeared on the Jerry Springer show, the single is marked by the clever lyrics and multi-layered hidden meanings. The phrase “so much more to love” suggesting that all is not what it seems. Nick Meredith shares “this was always a favourite of ours to listen to after a recording session. The original fade out goes on for about 5 minutes. Nick always laughed at my fade outs because they were either ridiculously long or ridiculously short. Something I probably won’t change about myself in the near future.”
The new songs have already been met with the warmest reception from industry and peers alike, having been featured across curated playlists including Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, Alt Here, and Apple Music’s New Music Daily, Indie Pop, Lifted, Glow and The Sound. Alongside, the release has seen tremendous support across Double J, 2SER, Pilerats, Amnplify, Aus Music Scene, auspOp, BBM Live, Music Feeds, with Acid Stag stating “it’s simply impossible to not immerse yourself within the good times on offer within this release, whether that be through the captivating falsetto tones or the luscious instrumentation compiled, one thing is for sure – a good time is to be had when delving deep into this impressive release.”
The journey to releasing ‘More To Love’ has been marked by unwavering determination and collaboration, as Nick’s friends and family rallied together to honour his vision. Spearheaded by his devoted mother, Helen Wellings, co-producer Richard Belkner, and close friend Simon Relf, the album has been meticulously crafted to uphold Nick’s standards of excellence. Prior to Nick’s passing, ‘More To Love’ was in the final stages of completion. With every song written and recorded, the album has preserved his artistic direction and creative essence in every note and lyric.
Salmon Brothers’ new single ‘More To Love’ is out now on Dot Dash / Remote Control Recordings, with the ‘More To Love’ album due on 16th August.

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS ‘Long Dark Night’ (Single out now) ‘Wild God’ (Album out August 30)
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds return with their new album ‘Wild God’ on August 30th. Today, they release ‘Long Dark Night’, the third single from the band’s 18th studio album. LISTEN
This intimate twilight ballad is inspired by the poem ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ by the Spanish 16th-century poet St. John of the Cross. Through its reflective lyrics, the track evokes the poem’s themes of struggle and transcendence.
Cave says, “Long Dark Night is inspired by one of the greatest and most powerful poems of conversion ever written. Ultimately, though, it’s a beautiful country tune. It feels like a sweet companion to the song, Wild God.”
Across ten tracks on Wild God, the band dance between convention and experimentation, taking left-turns and detours that heighten the rich imagery and emotion in Cave’s soul-stirring narratives. It is the sound of a group emboldened by reconnection and taking flight. There are moments that touch fondly upon the Bad Seeds’ past but they are fleeting, and serve only to imbue the relentless and restless forward motion of the band.
Produced by Cave and Warren Ellis, and mixed by David Fridmann, Cave began writing the album on New Year’s Day 2023. With sessions at Miraval in Provence and Soundtree in London, the Bad Seeds added their unique alchemy, with additional performances from Colin Greenwood (bass) and Luis Almau (nylon string guitar, acoustic guitar).
‘Wild God’ will be released on Bad Seed in partnership with Play It Again Sam on streaming, CD, and standard and limited edition vinyl. PRE-ORDER ALBUM

3. Frogs
4. Joy
5. Final Rescue Attempt
6. Conversion
7. Cinnamon Horses

TROPICAL FU*K STORM ‘Tropical Fu*k Storm’s Inflatable Graveyard’ (Live Album out September 27) Antimatter Animals’ (Single out now)
Tropical Fu*k Storm – announce their first live album, Tropical Fu*k Storm’s Inflatable Graveyard, for release September 27, 2024 on Three Lobed Recordings. Recorded live before a sold-out audience of crazed fans at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall in 2022, Tropical Fu*k Storm’s Inflatable Graveyard captures the psych-punk band turning the volume, and weirdness, up to 11 as they present fiery and intense new takes on their fan-favorite studio discography.
The lead single, ‘Antimatter Animals‘, is available on all streaming platforms as of today. Essential listening.
TSF’s Gareth Liddiard, Fiona Kitschin, Erica Dunn, and Lauren Hammel, cordially welcome you to TFS’ Inflatable Graveyard, their debut live album. It captures their October 22, 2022 show at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall, at the peak of their “Fuck the Rain Away” tour. The performance, which spans 11 songs and over an hour of music, contains highlights from their three studio albums (2018’s A Laughing Death in Meatspace, 2019’s Braindrops, and 2021’s Deep States), accompanied by a pair of covers (“Ann” by the Stooges and “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees). Consider TFS’ Inflatable Graveyard a Greatest Hits album in the purest sense: their eldritch psychedelic ethos trapped on wax, raw and unfiltered.
The release of TFS’ pent-up creative energy, when combined with the crowd’s fervor and anticipation—they’d been waiting an equally long-ass time, after all—results in an explosive feedback loop unlike anything the band has captured on record thus far. It’s a kind of chemical reaction, a persistent euphoria that starts up the minute they take the stage to “Men’s Only Costume Party”—a bright, somewhat bizarre reggae track one of their friends cooked up in the TFS tour van—and is locked into place thirty seconds or so later, with the scorching opening measures of “Braindrops.” Excitement leads to spontaneity; before long, fan favorites are assuming remarkable new forms at staggering scale. If you thought the Zappa-esque tantrums on “You Let My Tyres Down” and “Chameleon Paint” sounded unhinged before, wait until you encounter them here; ditto for the subtle dynamic tweaks to “Paradise” and “Antimatter Animals,” all hypnotic effects and rhythmic mind games.
TFS save their best, of course, for the encore: a one-two punch that affirms their status as one of experimental rock’s pre-eminent supergroups while simultaneously setting the stage for the foursome’s next chapter. Following a soaring, expanded take on ”Two Afternoons,” the band launch into what is perhaps their most ebullient song to date: a cover of Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive,” featuring Dunn on lead vocals, which galvanizes the catharsis of the preceding 10 songs into a hallucinogenic fever dream that’s equally conducive to moshing and making out.
In the wake of Kitschin’s successful fight against cancer (a battle that started several months after this recording), that iconic chorus feels not just impactful but premonitory. Pandemics, illness, a world on fire, political unrest: Tropical Fuck Storm might be temporarily halted now and again, but in the end, their drive makes them unstoppable.- Zoe Camp

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE ‘I Can Never Die’ (Single) OPERA (Album Out Aug 23rd)
Italian Symphonic Death Metal maestros FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE have released the latest single, ‘I Can Never Die’, from the band’s long-awaited 6th studio album, Opera, that’s due out August 23rd from Nuclear Blast Records. Accompanied by the stunning music video by visionary director Martina L. McLean, ‘I Can Never Die’ is a crushing sonic tribute to artists and their enduring works.
Commenting on the song, frontman Francesco Paoli states: “Memory is the strongest force in the universe, as it’s the one and only that can give us immortality. It can’t be deceived or shaped to our liking as, in the end, we are what we do and what we leave to posterity faithfully reflects what kind of men and women we’ve been. Some people don’t give the right value to their actions, focusing on immediate profit, and forgetting that our choices have a decisive impact on our and other people’s existence. Especially when you are an artist. It’s essential to remember that everything we create outlives us, it has a life of its own and, once it’s brought into existence, it belongs to everyone and we have no more control over it.
Death can occur abruptly any time and there’s no chance to change what it’s done, once we’re gone. As far as I’m concerned, one of my first thoughts when I realized that I could have died was “who have I been” and “what am I leaving behind”. I recollected my whole life and figured out how much determination, sacrifice and honesty I’ve put into art and that made me so proud that I would have died in peace. That’s why we wrote this song, which is nothing but a glorious anthem for all those who commit their existence to art in the purest possible way.”

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE are finally back with their brand new, 6th album titled Opera, a gut-wrenching musical journey inspired by the tragic mountain climbing accident occurred to their frontman and mastermind Francesco Paoli, in 2021.
Due out August 23rd via Nuclear Blast Records, Opera is structured like a 10-act theatrical piece, as the title itself, Opera, draws a clear thread with the everlasting tradition of Italian classical music theater combining it with the epic brutality of death and symphonic metal, which has become their trademark sound. LUKE WATT ‘The Creek’ (Single)
Luke Watt is a folk/blues singer-songwriter and guitar player. With influences including Chris Whitley, Richard Thompson and Kelly Joe Phelps, he draws on elements of folk and blues to convey stories both dark and uplifting. He has appeared at festivals including the Gympie Music Muster, The Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Queenscliff Music Festival as well as several tours across Europe.
“It was threatening rain,
could it wash away my sin?”
In the quiet chill of the dawn, two brothers slide through the scrub, intent on confronting men they believe have been sent to kill them. What transpires changes their fate, and the consciousness of a nation. “The Creek” is a turning point in a life on the run. A vivid description of a moment in time. It is a song that throws the listener headlong into the brutal reality that was life in colonial Australia, and a reminder that nothing is as it seems.
Musically sparse, and hauntingly performed, it features Luke Watt on guitars and voice, Danny McKenna on drums (C.W Stoneking, Jeff Lang) and Steve Hadley on Bass (Tex Perkins, Paul Kelly).
“The Creek” is out now Stream here
2024 sees the release of Luke’s 4th solo recording. Produced by Aria Award winner Jeff Lang, and featuring Danny McKenna on drums and Steve Hadley on bass, the self titled record is a vivid musical conversation, sonically spacious, with room for each of the three musicians to speak. Captured in whole live takes, the trio weave their way through stories of small town mistakes, the question of determinism and tales of folk rebels on the run.

NELSON MATHEWS ‘It’d Be A Joke’ (Single)
On the face of it, Nelson Mathews’ music falls into the alternative category, the type of ‘alternative’ that’s grounded in a strong melodic pop sensibility. You keep detecting trace elements of his musical cornerstones – think John Cale, Talking Heads, Sonic Youth or, closer to home, Ed Kuepper and Hunters and Collectors.
The range of styles contained on his upcoming album Unthinkable are hinted at on the title track (and first single). The darker side of a complex childhood is explored on the half sung, half spoken verses, which then make way for an uplifting, anthem like climax, replete with female backing vocals and brass.
Nelson’s well-travelled life has involved stints as a chef, building restorer and social justice advocate. His obsession with certain artists has led to seeking out little known paintings in obscure galleries. Somehow all this finds its way into his over-riding passion; music. The evocative lyrics read like short stories, full of pathos, keen observation and sly humour. Mathews’ blanket instruction to his production team was that he wanted to feel the bass and kick drum through the floor. sonically, the production is bold, with a killer band helping to both ground and elevate the songs. The addition of vintage keyboards and a brass trio, complete the picture.
“The upcoming album feels like my calling card. I didn’t write it with any particular genre or style in mind but it somehow holds together. It feels pure in that way. it followed a particularly dark period of my life. It captures the moment I decided ‘this is what I want to do’. obviously, I love all the songs, but part of the pleasure for me is how it sounds, which is exactly how I dared to imagine it would”.
“I love albums, because they each have their own feel or aesthetic that’s unique to a particular time. my music swerves between emotional intimacy and joyous hedonism, with the truth lying somewhere in between. this is me in black and white, shades of grey and full colour”.
“My writing reflects my deep, deep love and innate need for music. the power of music to move me knows no stylistic boundaries. I don’t like musical snobbery and the notion one genre is somehow more worthy than another. I’m equally comfortable listening to music in a recital hall as a sticky carpet venue”.
The album was mastered by Randy Merrill (Paul McCartney, Lady Ga Ga), mixed by Jono Steer (Hiatus Kaiyote, Emma Donavan) and recorded at the iconic Woodstock Studios, with musicians including Luke Hodgins (Megan Washington, Gotye), Lawrence Folvig (Missy Higgins, Ainslie Wills) and Gideon Preiss (jazzparty, Husky).
Since immersing himself in music a few years ago the songs have not stopped coming, with well over another 3 albums worth of material ready to record. Unthinkable is the beginning. STREAM HERE
FELICITY ‘You Take Me To Dinner But You’ll Never Feed My Soul’ (EP)
Australian, Nashville-based pop/rock artist Felicity releases You Take Me To Dinner But You’ll Never Feed My Soul, a barnburner of a debut out today on East Music Row Records. Along with the EP, Felicity shares the music video for her new single “Lovebomb,” a slithering, sexy track featuring her growling vocals and a driving, four-on-the-floor beat. The song is an ode to fuckbois who overpromise, and the video finds Felicity donning a wedding gown and unraveling in real time.

Stream You Take Me To Dinner But You’ll Never Feed My Soul
Felicity on the new single: “We really wanted to capture the feeling of the emotional turbulence that comes with being in the throes of a classic lovebombing situation – a song that violently builds to a fever pitch with a(n almost) one word chorus you can scream. (free therapy???)” She continues, “For the ‘Lovebomb’ video we really wanted to capture the feeling of being lovebombed at the highest level and, well…nothing screams being love bombed like being left at the altar, am I right? So we took that concept and went one step further – what would the aftermath of that feeling look like? We decided it would probably be spiraling in a bathtub with a cocktail, still in the wedding dress of course.”
Raised on the direct and provocative music of artists like Alanis Morissette, Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple, Felicity’s songwriting feels more like an essential exorcism than a personal choice. Her new EP encompasses the full spectrum of heartache, from the tense and painful confessional “I Prefer You In My Head” to the fed-up and soul-soaked “There’s Been A Lot Going On.” She has received early praise from Atwood Magazine, who named Felicity an “Artist To Watch” and said her music “aches in all the right ways.”
Born in Perth, Australia, Felicity wrote her first song at age 15 and recorded it with studio time her mother won at a local auction, launching her straight into the fraught web of the music world. After several years of stops and starts, releasing a group of singles and running into a few shady characters along the way, she realized she needed to start over and really find her voice. So she made her way to Nashville, where she met producer Austin Luther and singer/songwriter Johnny Gates, who quickly signed her to their new label. Now on the other side, You Take Me To Dinner But You’ll Never Feed My Soul finds Felicity fearlessly taking on the industry and the men who have wronged her with equal fervor.

WEREWOLVES ‘Die For Us’ (Album)
Australian death metal trio WEREWOLVES formed in 2019 with the express purpose of releasing ten albums in ten years and they are now proud to present not only their fifth album ‘Die For Us’, but also the usual catastrophic global event that always seems to accompany our releases.
The band states: “Think we’re bullshitting? From album to album, we’ve had Australian bushfires where half the country burnt down, a global pandemic followed swiftly by global insanity, a US coup attempt plus the Ukraine war getting into full swing, then more fires AND floods everywhere.
Now we’ve released (online July 12th) ‘Die For Us’ which was followed a day later by an attempted US political assassination and the world’s most hysterical country going even more bananas. To make matters worse, this release is split into two parts: Bandcamp on Friday 12th, and everything else Friday 19th July…streaming, physicals, the lot. So no doubt something else equally mental will happen by the end of the week. Sorry.
The good news is we’re halfway to our ten album goal, so everything should calm down again by 2029. Until then, the world’s going to hell in a handbasket. Death, war, terror, evil, hate. Buy our album.”
‘Die For Us’ ticks every box for modern death metal, with excruciatingly violent blasting straight out the gates and very little let-up until the bitter end. The title track is an anthemic call to self-annihilation, ‘Beaten Back To Life’ castigates everyone with the temerity to have started listening to metal after 1992. ‘Fuck You Got Mine’ is a hymn to the joys of being a slumlord. ‘My Hate is Strong’ is pure visceral evil and features vocal contributions by Australian national treasure ROK from SADISTIK EXEKUTION. ‘Spittle-Flecked Rant’ flirts with d-beats and hardcore while imploring the world to be even worse, and ‘Under A Urinal Moon’ is a wave of blackened darkness piss.

MUHARREM ASLAN ‘Karma’ (Album)
Muharrem Aslan is a Sydney-based singer, composer, songwriter, baglama player, arranger and producer. He was born on January 15, 1977, in Ozcanli, a village in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaras, Turkiye.
Muharrem grew up in an Alevi spiritual music culture where the feelings, ideas, and beliefs are expressed through songs with the accompaniment of the baglama. At the age of twelve, he started singing traditional folk songs and playing the baglama.
In 2001 he migrated to Sydney, Australia. He composed his first composition, ‘Gule Nisan’ (2004), while in Sydney. This song became the title of his first album. He then got back to Turkiye and continued his musical journey by attending concerts, TV and radio shows, and preparing more albums. The song called ‘Ben Gönlümü Sana Verdim’, which he prepared during this time, has reached broad audiences and subsequently entered it the charts on Spotify, iTunes, Shazam and YouTube Music.
In 2015, he decided to back to Sydney, Australia, to study music. He graduated from Diploma of Music Industry in 2016 from TAFE, Bachelor of Music (Honours) in 2021 from University of New South Wales and Master of Creative Music Therapy in 2023 from University of Western Sydney.

Alongside solo albums, he did collaborative albums with UNSW Jazz Orchestra, UNSW Classical Guitar Ensemble, Rose of April and many other musicians. His music is a blend of cultures that is nostalgic, innovative and forward-thinking.

ADELE OLIVER ‘Wiley Blue’ (Single)
Raised in the Kimberley, Adele Oliver’s music is infused with its rugged essence. Today the Alt-Country singer-songwriter reveals her reminiscent single, ‘Wiley Blue’.
On the surface, ‘Wiley Blue’ recalls a breathtaking 8 second ride, but for Adele the story is far more personal. “I watched the man I was in love with at the time ride in the Broome rodeo on a bull named Wiley Blue – he was the bucking bull of the year the year previous, and he knew he was in for a good ride.”
“In the time I was with him, I spent a lot of time around his family who had rodeo and the ringer life very much in their blood for generations. I’d listen to them sitting around the back tables of family houses, recounting memorable rides, listing off injuries, planning out the next rodeo or reminiscing on the days gone passed. I saw how for him and his family, rodeo was very much a way of life and meant more than just aiming for the win. I wanted to capture that in the song.”
To nail that sentiment she called upon producer, James Newhouse (John Butler, The Waifs, San Cisco). Surrounded by sheep paddocks on his acreage studio in Bunbury, ‘Wiley Blue’ came to life with a little help from some friends. “I travelled down from Broome and met up with two musicians and close friends, Elwood and Albert Gray.” Together they carefully crafted the track. Anchored by a rustic drum feel, fiddle, mandolin and guitar duck and weave around Adele’s lines. “I really felt throughout this whole process that James saw the vision and got it exactly where I’d envisioned.”
The track embodies a certain intimacy that characterises Adele’s live shows. The singer-songwriter has captivated audiences at events like the 2021 Nannup Music Festival and 2023 Odyssea Music Festival – ahead of trailblazers, King Stingray. She also warmed up the stage for Caravana Sun in her hometown of Broome in April and October 2023.
Adele found her love of songwriting working with Indigenous communities in Fitzroy Crossing – a small map dot amidst the vast Kimberley. “I worked in a social emotional well-being role that incorporated music, song writing and recording across the communities of the Fitzroy Valley.” There, she learned of music’s power to heal. Now, in between jaunts on the stage, she aids her community as a NDIS Support Worker. “I love working with people and learning about different perspectives and I care deeply for the people I support in this role.”
With a spellbinding voice and rugged soundscape, Adele Oliver captures the heart of the human experience, spinning authentic tales of life, love, and loss. With its nostalgic nature and rustic sound, ‘Wiley Blue’ is the kind of song you can play again and again.

ELIZA & THE DELUSIONALS ‘Make It Feel Like The Garden’ (Album) ‘Lately’ (Single)
Indie rock juggernauts Eliza And The Delusionals invite you to immerse yourself in the lush tapestry and soundscape of their sophomore album Make It Feel Like The Garden out today via Cooking Vinyl Australia. LISTEN TO ALBUM HERE
Crafting a visually and sonically utopian landscape, the album acts as a refuge from the real world, transporting the listener to their own happy place or “garden”. Showcasing their trademark blend of catchy hooks, driving rhythms, and contemplative lyricism, the record is a kaleidoscope of emotions and melodies.
Today the trio have shared the visuals for their latest single ‘Lately’, featuring Silversun Pickups’ lead vocalist and guitarist Brian Aubert and co-production from Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage)
WATCH CLIP HERE
The band were on tour supporting Silversun Pickups in 2022 when they mentioned to Brian they were writing their second album, and asked if he would be interested in featuring on one of the tracks. From fantasy to reality, Brian was excited by the prospect of the collaboration and the creative floodgates opened.
On the collaboration Brian says, “Eliza And The Delusionals are basically family to me. When they asked me to join them on a song I was over the moon. I love the song and I wanted it to have a certain chemistry. So I basically had to build up a sort of parasocial obsession with the sound of my longtime friend Eliza’s voice. And I did. And it was wild. And I hope it comes across because I love the song and I love this band.”
The accompanying video, which was created by videographer and 3D designer Tom Carroll (@egumei), showcases the darker side of The Garden outside of the dreamy landscape in the artwork.

“A Complicated Truth” has generated intense fan reactions every time Missy previewed the heartbreaking ballad during her sold-out national tour over recent months. As the beloved singer/songwriter explains:
“I was driving around one day with my five year old daughter in the back of the car, not long after her dad and I had split up, and she started asking a heap of questions all of a sudden like “why can’t daddy live in our house anymore?” and “how can you just stop being married if you made promises to each other?”. As you can imagine it felt like a dagger in my heart. I just didn’t know what to tell her. So later that night I decided to try and answer her questions in a song. Maybe one day when she listens to it she might understand things a bit better”
In a tour overflowing with rave reviews, critics have repeatedly singled out this evocative song for special mention. For example:
Appropriately the song is accompanied by a striking video filmed during one of Missy’s five memorable nights at Melbourne’s iconic Palais Theatre.
The release of “A Complicated Truth” coincides with the digital unveiling of her new album The Second Act which will be released on September 6. This introspective 12 song set has been available for LP & CD pre-order for several months but as of today the full track listing can be viewed /pre-ordered here.
The Second Act was written and co-produced by Missy and, appropriately for such an intimate piece of work, she recorded it at home. An evocative and highly thematic batch of songs about trying to build a new life, it has been described as a “kind of sequel” to Missy’s trailblazing debut The Sound Of White – hence the bookending of these two albums on Missy’s hugely successful “Second Act Tour” which has sold out nearly 40 shows across Australia.

TOM CURTAIN ‘Good Life’ (Single)
2 x Golden Guitar winning singer-songwriter, Tom Curtain, revels in life’s simplest joys on his uplifting new track, ‘Good Life’. The country singer is truly living the dream; touring his stunning live show around Australia 6 months of the year, running a booming tourism business in the Territory and still finding time to take out trophies at campdrafts. ‘Good Life’ distils that experience into a song that celebrates the magic of rural living – wide open spaces, campfire nights and muddy tyres.
“I’m gonna’ head out, where there’s no doubt, it’s more wild and free / Where there’s a big sky, more time, fresh air to breathe,” the big hatted troubadour sings in the song’s chorus.
Tom describes it as the “ultimate getaway anthem”. Inspired by a conversation with a punter on tour, the song title landed in his lap. “A bloke from Melbourne came up after a show and was quizzing me about life on a cattle station – the early morning starts, mustering cattle on horseback, the isolation and fun times had out there. After a while he replied “That sounds like, what a good life looks like, to me” I said I think I’d better buy you a beer as that’s a cracking line for a song. He said no dramas and we shared a couple together!”
Tom began penning the song on the road, before engaging songwriter, Matt Scullion. Over a flurry of zoom calls the duo fleshed out the lyrics and finally brought it to producer, Garth Porter (Lee Kernaghan, James Blundell), for the final touches. With the inimitable Rod McCormack (Gina Jeffreys, Adam Harvey) behind the mixing desk, ‘Good Life’ found life within the walls of Porter’s Rancom St Studio. “Together they make a phenomenal team and are always bouncing ideas off one another,” exclaims Tom.
‘Good Life’ is the first new music from Tom in 2024, following his 2023 single ‘When The Rain Comes Down’. The previous single, lifted from his Golden Guitar nominated album, Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us, rocketed to #1 on the Country Songs Australian Top 40 Airplay Chart, debuted at #6 on the AMRAP Regional Chart, hit #8 on the Country Radio Charts, and was the #9 Most Downloaded Track on Play MPE’s Weekly Top 20 Chart.
Tom divides his time between his home in the Northern Territory and the backroads and highways of Australia. In the NT he manages the Katherine Outback Experience (KOE), an amply awarded tourism attraction, while the warmer months are spent bringing his music to fans around the country; having just completed a massive 6-month run. This November the troubadour will appear at Equitana, a major Equine Festival in Melbourne.
With a rousing collection of songs about rural life – that have amassed over 2 million streams, Tom Curtain is synonymous with the Australian way of life. ‘Good Life’ reminds us that many of the simplest joys can be found off the beaten track and that everyone’s welcome at the campfire.

CORN NUT CREEK ‘Moment Of you’ (Single)
Chamber-folk duo Corn Nut Creek are thrilled to announce the release of their latest single Moment of You, from their most recent album ‘Hearts in Bloom’. Moment of You was written by Tanya Bradley and inspired by some of her experiences of early motherhood. STREAM HERE
Speaking about the inspiration for the song, Tanya said, ‘I distinctly remember writing this song when my son was very young and I felt that I needed a moment alone to just be with my thoughts. I took a few moments in the bedroom just closing my eyes and breathing deeply. That first year felt so overwhelming and those quiet moments helped get me through. Those moments unfortunately also held some guilt for needing that time in the first place and I’ve come to find that so many other mums struggle with this exact contradictory and bittersweet experience. This song has helped me embrace the old adage ‘absence makes my heart grow fonder.’”
Speaking about the making of Moment of You, Corn Nut Creek said, “Like many of our songs, it went through so much evolution to become the song it is now. We must have performed it hundreds of times before taking it into the studio and this helped us to connect with the song on a higher level. The arrangement and instrumentation just felt like a natural progression after sitting with it for so long. Danielle got to really relish in her lush string arranging with this one which added an entirely new dimension as well.
The pair will continue their tour around Australia and are already working on their next album, which is set to release mid-2025.

PHIL COYNE AND THE WAYWARD ACES ‘Can’t Hide’ (Single) (Self-titled album released August 9)
Phil Coyne and the Wayward Aces deliver a high-voltage journey through the tone and fury of mid-50s Chicago blues. Fronted by blues harp blaster Phil Coyne, with Oscar LaDell on guitar, and Will Harris on drums, the band’s dynamic performances have assailed Melbourne’s live music scene and earned accolades, including a #10 debut on the Australian Roots and Blues Airplay Charts.
The band is excited to announce the release of their third single “Can’t Hide” off their new self titled album.
Born out of a night out on a Link Wray musical adventure and the enforced solitude of Melbourne’s Covid lockdowns, “Can’t Hide” channels the raw, unfiltered emotions of isolation and inner turmoil arising from being stuck with too much time to think.
With Oscar’s Peter Gunn inspired riffs, Will’s surf garage rock foundation and Phil’s sharp horn lines, listeners are transported to a 60s go-go bar. It’s a world of suspended motion, doubt and frustration, but also a fabulous setting for some barbaric, screaming harp.
The new self titled album. “Phil Coyne and The Wayward Aces” is a 10 track LP and is planned for release on 9 August 2024 – launched with a huge blues party at St Kilda’s George Lane in a triple header with Doggrel and Futuras Hammond Blues Band.
The new LP follows on from our debut EP “Sound and Fury” which we released to some great reviews. We got some fabulous airplay in Australia, UK and US, debuting at #10 on the Australian Roots and Blues Airplay Charts, making #3 Roots Music Report’s (US) “Top 50 Australian Album Chart” and we were nominated for Band of the Year in the VicTas Blues Awards.

RAVEN & THE DOVE “Love Looks’ (Single)
Enter into the enchanting midsummer night forest with Raven & the Dove as they create a dreamscape of love, illusion and lies with their new single, “Love Looks”.
“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; And therefore is wing’d Cupid painted blind.” ~ Shakespeare
‘Love Looks’ is a Shakespearean dream-pop bossa nova showcasing Cindy Lee and David Swift’s lyricism, harmonic melodies, and playful musicianship.
Originally written for their 2023 East Gippsland Winter Festival show ‘Cave Songs’—performed inside the Buchan Caves named after A Midsummer Night’s Dream—the duo have bought their song to life in this recording. Cindy’s lush velvet vocals and the bluesy autumnal tones of Dave’s guitar conjure spirited visions of the magic and mayhem of love and nature.
Think Nancy & Lee meets Nick Cave
“The refrain of ‘love looks not with the eyes’ reminds us of the ineffability of love, which is personified by a blindfolded Cupid shooting random arrows,” says Cindy. “And yet, love and connection are what we seek, so we keep falling and flying over and over again, like in a play or a dream. We enjoyed bringing that mischievousness into the song.”
Creating in East Gippsland / Gunaikurnai country, Dave and Cindy are joined by Mike Park’s smooth bass grooves and drum boss Dominic Britten bringing modern bossa nova vibes. All recorded and mixed with Stu Box at Snowy River Recording Studio and mastered by the master Andy Stewart at The Mill.

JOSIE ‘Life On The Flipside’ (Single)
Emerging country music sensation Josie drops her latest single, ‘Life on the Flip Side’. This heartfelt mid-tempo serves as a follow-up to her popular song ‘Freight Man’, and it dives deeper into her life on the road, capturing the unique and resilient lifestyle of rural Australia.
Inspired by Josie’s often used catchphrase, “catch ya on the flip side”, the song narrates her experiences growing up in the cab of her dad’s Western Star road train. “It’s telling the story of my life on the road from a different angle to Freight Man, touching on the fact it wasn’t exactly something kids in the school yard thought was cool right away”, admits the singer-songwriter. “Having been into many different stations and remote places across the travels in the truck, it truly opened my eyes to their lifestyle, the work that went into living that life, and how tough it really can be out there.”
She co-wrote the song with Ben Penna, with whom she also collaborated on her swaggering party track, ‘Down Here’. The pair penned the lyrics moments before a show. “After this show I said to him as he was leaving “That’s life on the flip side…that’s the hook”, and it was settled. Made so much sense!”
Recording ‘Life on the Flip Side’ was a joyous experience for Josie, thanks to the creative input of the MSquared masterminds, Michael Paynter and Michael DeLorenzis. “They reworked the song, adding their magic touch, and the final product is something Josie is incredibly proud of, as it perfectly captures her story and the essence of life on the road.”
The music video was filmed at the Reid River Export Depot just outside of Townsville. “I was so stoked we could film in a location that felt so real and authentic,” comments the Queensland native. “Seeing the work being carried out through the day… just felt so special and full circle to be standing there all done up filming a music video for my own song about living that life”.

JORDIE LANE ‘Biscuit House’(Single) ’Tropical Depression’ (Album out August 16)
Ahead of the release of his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Tropical Depression, Jordie Lane is back to treat us with another taste from the album in new single, Biscuit House.
Released today, the striking alt-folk/country-tinged song is another standout from his forthcoming record and follows recent singles The Changing Weather and Blame Me If You Want To, both of which received airplay around the country and saw Double J, ABC Country & Australian Country Radio adding Blame Me… to high rotation.
Biscuit House will no doubt resonate with those who at times self-doubt themselves. Of the song, Jordie says; “Long story short, ‘Biscuit House’ is about ‘Imposter Syndrome’. Something so many people feel at some point in their life, but especially creatives in the arts. We’re constantly evolving and trying new things, but ever questioning ourselves for better and (mainly) worse. I personally have always dreamed of the wide open spaces, and being a cowboy, an outlaw. It couldn’t be further from the truth, cause I ain’t none of that! I’m a city kid, with an over imaginative mind.”
Tropical Depression was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, with Grammy nominated producer, engineer and instrumentalist Jon Estes (Kacey Musgraves, Dolly Parton, Rodney Crowell), and mixed by famed engineer Noah Georgeson (The Strokes, Devandra Banhart, Marlon Williams) and mastered by Juno Award winning Phillip Shaw Bova (Feist, Father John Misty, Angel Olsen, Bahamas).
Don’t miss Jordie Lane on his Tropical Depression Australian Tour b/w August-November. *Note venue change for Sydney – Jordie will now be performing at The Trocadero Room, Enmore on Saturday September 7.
Biscuit House is out on all streaming platforms now.
Album Tropical Depression is out August 16, 2024 via ABC Music / The Orchard / Blood Thinner Records and is available now for Pre-order here and via jordielane.com.

mxmtoon ‘i hate texas’ (Single)
Since she was 17 years old, mxmtoon has made exquisitely catchy pop songs that capture the complex and tender feelings we often keep hidden from the world. Over the years, the Oakland native and now Nashville-based artist’s unguarded self-expression has earned her a devoted global following, led to collaborations with the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen and Noah Kahan, and propelled her through an expansive career that’s also included hosting a podcast and authoring a graphic novel.
Today, mxmtoon is releasing new music, a song that will be featured on her upcoming and soon-to-be-announced third album. It’s not only her strongest work to date but also some of her most personal. ‘i hate texas’—a fiddle-laced track co-written with underscores—she shares a post-breakup escape fantasy whose lyrics slip from sweetly poetic (“I haven’t left my apartment in a real long time/I’m making friends with the stars at night”) to unapologetically blunt (“i hate texas/But the exits have more room to run away from you”).
“Working on “’ hate texas’ felt like when I first started making music, like I was completely in my element,” Maia recalls. “I felt inspired to get a little sarcastic and write a song with some kick to it, just as pure fun.” LISTEN
mxmtoon also lent her talents to the LEGO and Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series, composing and performing the main song. Titled ‘post-post apocalyptic dance party’, the track manages to work references to LEGO, various aspects of the world of Horizon and even Joris de Man’s ‘Aloy’s Theme’ into the 3-minute song. Working with Kellen “Pom Pom” Pomeranz (GRAMMY-award winner) as co-writer and producer, mixed by Laura Sisk (GRAMMY-award winning engineer) and mastered by Heba Kadry (catalogue includes Bjork, Slowdive and Ryuichi Sakamoto), the track has some of the best talent in the industry contributing to its infectious vibe. Strings were recorded at the legendary AIR Studios in London by the same team working on the in-game score.
mxmtoon is currently on a huge stadium tour of North America opening for AJR. All dates are HERE.
DEAN OWENS ‘After The Rain’ (Single)
Dean Owens is an award winning adventurous troubadour, with fans including authors Irvine Welsh and Ian Rankin (whose character Rebus has Dean’s CDs on playlist!) and BBC legend Bob Harris. He has released 9 (official) albums to date, with a new one on the way for 2024.
For starters Dean and his band The Sinners are confirmed to perform at the Port Fairy Folk Festival in 2025 – and there may just be other shows. Fingers crossed! Plus here’s another incredible song. Dean Owens featuring Joey Burns, John Convertino and musicians from Calexico and Paul Niehaus on pedal steel. Recorded at WaveLab Studio, Tucson.
Dean says: One of my oldest songs, originally known as Shine Like The Road After The Rain, inspired by an Ansel Adams photograph. I was strumming away on my nylon string guitar one day and started singing it. It felt right again. New and fresh. I made a demo and sent it to Joey. He got right back to me and said ‘you have to record this one’. I’m so glad we did. STREAM HERE
MORE ABOUT DEAN OWENS
Mostly recorded in the US, Dean has collaborated with some of the most respected musicians and producers around (including Al Perkins, Will Kimbrough, Neilson Hubbard, Grant-Lee Phillips and most recently, Gaby Moreno and Latin rock legends, Calexico).
Dean is also a consummate live performer, with a searingly soulful voice, a wealth of stories, earworm inducing melodies and great songs; the heart of a rock n roller combined with the spellbinding delivery of folk’s best storytellers, with fun and melancholy intertwined.
Recent live highlights include performances at the iconic Edinburgh Castle, festivals in Scotland, Germany and the Netherlands, and a sold out Netherlands tour (Apr 2023).
He can perform solo, duo or with his band The Sinners – a hugely talented, brass infused ensemble including electric guitar, bass and trumpet – which can tour as a compact quartet, or, as at 2023’s sold out Celtic Connections showcase, a very special 7 piece.
2022’s Sinner’s Shrine album (recorded with Calexico), and 2023’s follow up El Tiradito, have been pulling superlative-laden reviews from publications throughout Europe, described as an intoxicating, innovative, “marriage made in heaven” collaboration, adding desert noir/Latin nuances to his already extensive musical palette (with his influences ranging across country, classical, punk and indie, through jazz, folk and rock).
Dean’s music has been described as a unique blend of Scottish roots and Americana, but in truth it’s hard to pin down to a single genre. With each album he has pushed his own boundaries, constantly exploring, as his travels have taken him from Scotland’s post industrial heartlands to Nashville, New York and the panoramic vistas of the US deserts.
A new album, being recorded in Italy (in the land of his lion tamer ancestor) with musicians including Sacri Cuori’s Antonio Gramentieri, is scheduled for release in Fall 2024.
