DVRKWORLDÂ âBonnieâ(Single)
Dvrkworld, a Lutruwita (Tasmanian) based band, creates a unique blend of alternative rock, infusing their music with a mix of garage-rock, dream-pop, psychedelic-rock, shoegaze, and grunge. Emerging from the vibrant music scene of Lutruwita (Tasmania), alt-rock band Dvrkworld releases their latest single ‘Bonnie’, the second from their debut EP due for release in late 2024.
Formed in early 2023 by Mary Shannon and Drew Farrant-Jayet and later joined by Shawn Arnold and Ryan Unger, Dvrkworld blends an eclectic mix of garage-rock, dream-pop, psychedelic-rock, shoegaze, and grunge. Drawing inspiration from Mazzy Star, DIIV and Ride, the band creates a soundscape that is both reverberant and melodic, characterised by rich, fuzzy guitars and driving rhythms.
The single, “Bonnie,” explores self-identity and inner conflict, reflecting on the turmoil caused by personal actions and the struggle to maintain authenticity in a world dominated by societal expectations. Named after the band’s drummer’s beloved canine companion, “Bonnie” explores the tension between the desire to stay true to oneself and the pressure to conform. The song highlights the difficulty of being misunderstood and blamed for not fitting in. Much like a dog’s inherent loyalty and unconditional love, “Bonnie” serves as a metaphor for the yearning to be fully accepted and not alone. It captures the hope to find acceptance amidst both external pressures and internal doubts, mirroring the steadfast loyalty and devotion of a faithful companion.

JODI âI Know A Girlâ (Single)
Gadigal/Sydney-based indie-pop artist Jodi has returned with her dynamic release, ‘I Know A Girl’ â co-written by Alex McIntyre (Lola Scott) and produced/mixed by Alistair Hayes (Daphnie, Jewel Owusu, youproblem). ‘I Know A Girl’ unfolds with Jodi’s ethereal vocals paired with stripped-back guitar arpeggios, creating an intimate, melancholic tone. Slow-building pads and atmospheric layers gradually infuse the track with a dreamy quality, leading to a chorus marked by hard-hitting drums and emotive melodies.
Jodi talks about the inspiration behind ‘I Know A Girl’: “‘I Know A Girl’ is a punk pop tantrum mixed with soft and sad indie pop about a boy. Holistically, this track is about knowing you aren’t the only one he’s seeing. It’s revengeful and confident. When we (Alex Mcyntire ‘Lola Scott’) wrote this demo in Nov 2022, it was over Zoom in the afternoon and it was prefaced with gossip. ‘I Know A Girl’ starts in a pretty desperate outlook; you’re starting your grief journey over this situationship and the rage is about to kick in… Themes of a rockstar’s god-complex surface, alongside feelings of shame and confusion.”
Accompanying the release is a single launch party at The Vanguard, with support from jnr. and SUĂ.

MEMPHIS LK âSayâ (Single)
Australian artist Memphis LK is eager to galvanise clubbers with dance tracks that pack summer anthem potential, and sheâs bringing in Naarm-based powerhouse Willaris. K on new collaborative single âSayâ. Known for cutting through electronic music with a distinctive pop twist, this is a thrilling teaser of her more heavily club-orientated ammo. Moving from her native Melbourne to London over a year ago, sheâs on a mission to endear herself to more audiences across the UK and Europe. Gigs at The Cause and Phonox, playing alongside DJ Heartstring, Effy, sim0ne and Pretty Girl, is certainly setting her on that path. The relocation makes sense for the DJ, producer and songwriter as she credits the UK as having a huge influence on her music. Anyone whoâs rinsed her Too Much Fun EP, which ranked in Pitchforkâs Best Pop Music of 2023, might have sussed as much with its vivid glimmers of UK club sounds.
âSayâ initially started with Willaris. K, whoâs likely still riding high off the back of a recent collaboration with Australian dance pioneers The Presets. âThis track was started on a Sunday afternoon experimenting with ideas blasting through my laptop speakers. I loved the loop so I sent it over to Memphis, she added her angelic vocals, and we turned it into a full song. I love hearing the Australian accent inflections on it. I really enjoyed making something outside of the usual W.K sound.â

NOAH DILLON âHeâs A Ladâ (Single) âSoftâ (EP out August 30)
Fremantle-based indie-rock favourite, Noah Dillon, reveals a new single today ‘He’s A Lad’ and announces the release of the new EP ‘Soft’, out Friday August 30, via Dew Process and Universal Music. ‘He’s A Lad’ is the third single to drop from the upcoming EP, ‘Soft’, premiered on triple j drive with Tyrone and Abby. The energetic and lyrically vulnerable track is produced by Andy Lawson (The Buoys, Death By Denim, Tired Lion). It is written about toxic masculinity that stems from a place of insecurity.
Noah Dillon shares… “I wrote it after a night at the pub where this guy wouldnât shut his mouth about himself, a desperate alpha male. I got home and felt both disgust and empathy for him. Thereâs no excuse for being a tosser but I could see his fragile inner child putting on a man suit. What are you hiding from? Being soft? Being sad? So scared to not be the centre of it that he never listens and in turn is the epitome of what he doesnât want to be⌠a boring, lonely person. It was written in reference to this one person but is really a glance at my thoughts of the toxic parts of all masculinity. You only end up fighting yourself when you try fit into a box.”
The EP ‘Soft’ â Noah Dillon’s third, following 2019’s ‘Everything Melts’ and his 2021 breakthrough ‘Don’t Change for the World (Like It’s Changing Me)’ â is a straightforward and succinct title, especially in contrast to the woven metaphor of his two previous titles. The beauty lies in the simplicity, which, in turn, reveals a deeper and darker complexity. Noah shares,âthere’s strength in softness… the strongest thing you could ever do is be as vulnerable and as soft as you can. It’s not hard to be mean. It’s not hard to be jealous… It’s hard to be peaceful, calm and compassionate. It’s hard to be soft.”
‘He’s A Lad’ follows previous EP singles, the confident and defiant lead track ‘Let It Out’, officially added to triple j and most played track for several weeks, and the vulnerable letter ‘I Still Adore You’. The band have just wrapped up their most extensive headline international tour ‘Let It Out’, covering sold out shows in Australia, Europe and UK and have just been announced to perform at BIGSOUND 2024.

Musical powerhouse Cairo Knife Fight have officially released a live version of their 2011 track ‘The Violence of Action’ via Golden Robot Records, bringing fans a powerful, raw live performance that captures the essence of the band’s dynamic sound. The band have also announce that their highly anticipated EP, ‘Dream Season’, is set to release July 19.
“The release of ‘The Violence of Action’ feels timely, and it’s still one of my favourite songs, even after all these years,” shares frontman Nick Gaffaney. “It takes me back to the early days of the band, when we were forcing equipment to do things in the looping world it was never designed to do and running with the inspiration wherever it took us.” Stream live version of The Violence of Action HERE
‘The Violence of Action’Â was originally written in a storage unit in Christchurch, New Zealand, where the band endured the biting winter with only glow-in-the-dark carpet to muffle the sound. This unique environment played a crucial role in shaping the song’s raw energy. The newly released version is a live performance recorded at Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles in 2015, capturing the unfiltered and visceral essence of Cairo Knife Fight.
Golden Robot Records is thrilled to bring these new releases to fans, showcasing the continued evolution and resilience of Cairo Knife Fight.

THE SHARP 31st Anniversary of âThis is the Sharpâ TOUR DATES. NEW RECORDINGS. VINYL REISSUE.
The Sharp are Charlie Rooke (guitar/vocals), Allan Catlin (double bass/vocals) and Piet Collins (drums/vocals). Formed in Collingwood in 1990, the three piece already had a strong live following but when they released an independent single âLove Your Headâ the band quickly gained radio support on Triple R and PBS.
Triple J were soon behind the band and a record deal with Warner Music was struck. Their debut album “This is the Sharpâ went Gold and the band received Aria nominations, magazine covers and appearances on just about every TV/Radio show in Australia. Comedy program The D-Generation loved âThe Sharpâ so much they did a parody of hit single âScratch My Backâ and it became âSkivvies are Backâ in reference to the now famous black skivvied uniform the band had adopted. Rigorous touring ensued before the band settled into the studio to record its second album âSonic Tripodâ with American producer Rick Will (Ziggy Marley, Diesel). A brief tour of Europe and the US saw the band back home exhausted but ready to take on more touring.
Finally, after nearly five years in the limelight, the rigorous touring schedule brought the band to a crossroads and a decision was made to end on a high note. A collection of singles âSingle Fileâ was released as the bandâs final album and a final tour âThank you Goodnightâ saw them playing to packed houses around the nation. When the band played its last shows in 1995, many (including the band), wondered when (or if) it could all happen again.
Now many years later (and thanks to some persistent pestering from fans) The Sharp are back and sounding better than ever. Singer bass player Allan Catlin is not involved due to personal reasons, but he is ably represented by Scott Owen (double bass) from The Living End with lead singer duties taken care of by the amazing Louie Lee Feltrin. Playing all their hits plus some rockinâ covers. 31 years after the release of their debut album âThis is the Sharpâ, The Sharp are back with a vengeance!!!

HARPER BLOOMÂ âPinwheelâ (Single) âFlutterbyâ (EP out August 30)
Today, queer indie-pop artist Harper Bloom, announces her anticipated sophomore EP Flutterby, set for release August 30. Flutterby, marks a triumphant return for Bloom, reflecting her growth as an artist and an individual. Alongside the announcement, she also has released her latest single off the forthcoming EP, âPinwheelâ. Produced by the renowned Charlie Westropp (Maisie Peters, Gabrielle Aplin), the track captures the raw intensity of secret lust and the overwhelming emotions of an intense crush.
“I think the EP is a triumphant moment for me and itâs the first stepping stone into bigger things to come,” says Bloom on Flutterby. “I feel like I have grown into a completely different person to who I was a few years ago when I was releasing folk music, musically and personally. I finally understand music and I am having this really full and broad view of the whole soundscape, and this is allowing me to bring ideas to the table and create songs that I never realized were possible before.”
The EP showcases Bloom’s newfound confidence and musicality. “I have been through big gear shifts in the last couple of years and I think I am at a stage of my life where I feel like Iâve unlocked parts of myself. I am really excited by my sexuality and feel empowered by it, and I want to help other LGBTQIA+ people feel this way.”
Bloom explains on the single, “This single is really about secret and intense lust. The full demo came together in about an hour. Tim started playing that retro synth melody, and lyrically it was incredibly quick because it was just this huge release of emotions you feel when you have an overwhelming crush on someone.”
Musically inspired by âSeabirdâ by the Alessi Brothers, âPinwheelâ combines quirky throwback sounds with a modern pop sensibility. Westropp’s production polished the track to perfection, creating what Bloom describes as her favourite song to perform live.

POLISH CLUB âHow Dare Youâ (Single) âHeavey Weight Heartâ (Album out September 13)
Polish Club today announce their fourth studio album Heavy Weight Heart will be released independently on Friday 13 September. In tandem, the Eora/Sydney duo drop new single âHow Dare You Fall In Love In This Cityâ and reveal details for their album tour in October, making stops in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Tickets are on sale from 10:00am AEST today here.
âHow Dare You Fall In Love In This Cityâ (HDYFILITC) came together incredibly quickly with Novak writing the lyrics in just 5 minutes, laying down the vocal in one go and making up the melody as he went. Written alongside Robby De Sa (who also worked with the band on previous two tracks âManilaâ and âHeavyweightâ), âHDYFILITCâ Â is âeasily the most organic, effortless lyric Polish Club have had,â says Novak.
With nods to Bruce Springsteen, Sharon Van Etten and The War On Drugs, âHDYFILITCâ is one big vocal crescendo, where the rest of the instruments are steady throughout. âThis was the track from the album that stressed us out most in the studio, as we really didn’t want to lose the energy we found in the demo,â says Novak. âWe also wanted to flesh out the instrumentation with more analog instruments. We spent more time than perhaps we ever have chasing synth sounds and guitar tones.â
Conceptually, âHDYFILITCâ can be viewed as a companion track to âManilaâ, the first song released from Heavy Weight Heart, in April this year. âIt’s a song about Eora/Sydney, with both songs exploring the notion of not being sure whether or not you’re happy in said place (Manila or Sydney),â adds Novak.
With release set for 13 September, the entirety of Heavy Weight Heart was recorded at Golden Retriever Studios in Marrickville across a couple of weeks in September 2023 – serendipitously, almost a year to the day of its release. Simon Berckelman, Golden Retriever Studios owner, recorded the album alongside  assistant engineer Yianni Adams, with writing credits to Robby De Sa (MAY-A, Vera Blue, Gretta Ray, Grent Perez) on âManilaâ, âHeavyweightâ, âHow Dare Your Fall In Love In This Cityâ and âI Belong To Youâ, and Budo Miller for Fool On The Weekendâ.
A great deal of Heavy Weight Heartâs lyrical content and vibe was informed by Novakâs heart surgery (which at the time was upcoming). After suffering a congenital heart disease for a couple of years, Novak underwent a successful procedure in January 2024. Many of the songs on the album imbue a dreamy, love-infused romanticism – with both Novak and John-Henry Pajakâs recent nuptials illuminating these tracks.
While the undertones and subject matter for the songs on the album are heartfelt and poetic, the sound doesnât depart completely from their brash rock n roll backbone. âWe thought this was going to be our last big label record, so we wrote a bunch of big stadium rock songs intended for a full band vibe,â explains Novak. The album strikes a perfect balance between hard and soft, sincerity and boldness.
Heavy Weight Heart is available to pre-order on vinyl via Impressed Recordings. There will be a strictly limited 300 copies pressed on an exclusive blue and white splatter which come with an individually-numbered obi strip. Thereâs also exclusive fan bundles available including an exclusive t-shirt design and a special 7â of two tracks (‘Repeating Repeating’/’Heavyweight’) from the album recorded live at their recent show in Castlemaine (in conjunction with Maison Baked). EMILY WURRAMARA âLordy, Lordyâ (Single) âNaraâ (Album out August 23)
Following lauded performances at The Gum Ball, Badayijeng Ninggoowoong-Woorr Festival (alongside JK-47), BlakYard Picnic & her second sold-out headline show for 2024, ARIA-nominated lutruwita/Tasmania-based artist, author and proud Warnindhilyagwa woman hailing from Groote Eylandt & Milyakburra/Bickerton Island EMILY WURRAMARA (she/her) today announces her long-awaited second studio album NARA out 23 Aug via ABC Music plus new single + video ‘Lordy Lordy’ ft Tasman Keith. Stream ‘Lordy Lordy’ ft. Tasman Keith | Watch video   Pre-order NARA
Titled for the Anindilyakwa word meaning “nothing”, NARA beckons its listeners through mystical portals on a varicoloured journey through the years since Wurramara’s debut album Milyakburra (2018), tracing intense highs and lows – from winning accolades and taking her music across the world, losing her house in a fire, giving birth to her daughter and struggling with her mental health – to her ultimate arrival at peace in the knowledge that “It was when I had nothing, I realised I had everything”. Expanding into weird and wonderful spaces sonically & visually without losing the organic timelessness of Wurramara’s songwriting and steeped in love for community, NARA is fittingly announced alongside her most pop/dance-forward offering yet; “protest club song” ‘Lordy Lordy’ ft. Tasman Keith. ‘Magic Woman Dancing’, ‘Midnight Blues’ & ‘Lordy Lordy’ will all appear on NARA – pre-order digitally & on vinyl HERE. ‘Lordy Lordy’ ft. Tasman Keith is out now – stream HERE & watch the video HERE.
The announcement arrives ahead of live dates at the NIMAs 2024 – returning as a performer after her 2018 win for New Talent of the Year – Bondi Festival’s Proud, Proud Woman: A Ruby Hunter Tribute & Live @ The Gardens supporting Xavier Rudd

TYLA RODRIGUES âWish I Wouldâ(Single)
Tyla Rodrigues skirts the line between vintage and modern, making her old school country sound both timeless and refreshing. Today the young star-on-the-rise reveals her latest track, âWish I Wouldâ. LISTEN HERE
Saturated with blistering guitar licks, banjo and fiddle, the breakneck-speed romp echoes the sounds of by-gone eras. Yet Tylaâs soulful vocal adds a touch of contemporary sweetness, as she farewells a toxic relationship. âI wonât come crawling back even though I could / But I bet youâre gonna wish I wouldâ.
The single follows her recent release, âStraight Outlawâ, with both songs set to appear on the singer-songwriterâs debut EP Upon Reflection, set for release on 10th October. Among the liner notes is Tylaâs ace producer Rusty Crook. âI was extremely privileged to have this track recorded and produced in Tamworth, NSW by the ever-talented Rusty Crook,â she recalls â noting that the time they spent on âWish I Wouldâ far exceeds any other track the pair have tackled. âRusty and I have been working together over the past few years and he never fails to bring my big musical ideas to life.â
As an old-school country artist, Tyla effortlessly combines elements of classic country, blues, and folk. Her straight-shooting storytelling â covering love, heartbreak, and the simple joys and struggles of everyday life â has the ability to transport listeners to a bygone era, while redefining the boundaries of country music.
Since arriving on the scene, Tyla has notched up a great deal of hours on stage, appearing at some the countryâs biggest jaunts including Tamworth Country Music Festival, Gympie Music Muster, and Groundwater Country Music Festival. Earlier in 2024 she was lucky enough to sing alongside global superstar, Noah Kahan, at his sold-out Sydney show. âIt is a moment that I have to pinch myself about still to this day,â she laughs.
In the coming months, Tyla will embark on a headline run of dates across multiple states, showcasing tunes from her forthcoming EP Upon Reflection. âI cannot wait to get on the road in September for my headlining tour bringing all of my new tracks including âWish I Wouldâ to a town near you!â

TELENOVA âDiscothèque Inside My Headâ (Single) âTime Is A Flower (Album out August 16)
Jangly electric guitars evolve into a kaleidoscope of psychedelic tinged alt-pop on Discothèque Inside My Head, setting the stage for some of Telenovaâs most vivid songwriting and vocal performances yet. Frontperson Angeline Armstrong explains, âSometimes all the noise and voices of my inner critic make me feel like Iâm spinning around, lost in an overwhelming disco of light and sound inside my head. Iâm discovering the key to living with that level of self-doubt and noise is learning to dance along with the discothèqueâ.
Premiering at the St Kilda Film Festival in June, “Discothèque Inside My Head” is also Telenovaâs most ambitious music video yet. Written and directed by Angeline Armstrong and co-directed by Hamish MacGregor, the clip features a series of refreshingly quirky dance sequences by award-winning choreographer Zoee Marsh. âItâs essentially a 6-minute mini-musicalâ, Angeline says, âstarting with an off-beat audition sequence where Iâm literally being judged by myself (the inner critic made all too real), the competing dancers in the video represent the voices of comparison and self-doubt in my headâŚbut me and the voices ultimately learn to dance happily ever after.â
Reflective of Telenovaâs rapidly growing fandom locally and internationally, Telenova will play their biggest headline tour yet on their âTime Is A Flowerâ tour with 40 shows spanning cities across Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand including Paris, London, Berlin and Oslo and their biggest headline show anywhere in the world, in Athens this October.
