CHARLIE BEDFORD ‘Daydream’ (Single)
Jam-packed with charisma and summery tones, the new single Daydream out now from Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist Charlie Bedford sparkles with upbeat instrumentation set against frank lyricism. Also marking the first taste of this exciting artist’s new album due out in early 2025, Daydream finds Bedford expanding his blues roots further into upbeat indie rock territory, with the talented musician also primed to perform his latest single live in action in South Australia and Victoria to close out 2024, with some shows also locked in to kick off the new year.
Embracing inspiration from the likes of Neil Finn, Custard, John Mayer, Paul Kelly, Ash Grunwald, Theo Katzman, David Bowie and The Clash, amongst others, Charlie Bedford’s ever-emboldening trademark sonic style finds fresh new terrain on his latest single. A track soaked in honest storytelling, fun and passionate delivery, Daydream flourishes with luminous melodics, driving instrumentation, and an Aussie tinge that also urges its listener to strive for positivity, as Bedford elaborates, “Daydream can be interpreted a few different ways, but the way I resonate most with it is by identifying it as an internal conflict – loosely based around procrastination. The takeaway for me is to realise how easy life can be if you push on, find the positives in your situation and access the willpower to get the important things done.”
Working alongside Mark Lowrie from Guffland Studios to bring Daydream to life, Bedford also amassed a team of fellow creatives to enhance every aspect of his latest sonic endeavours, both on the new single and for the broader impending album of the same name set to release next year. “I worked with a number of people behind the scenes, getting opinions and advice on my songwriting,” Bedford shares. “The person I worked with most overall was my good friend Mark Lowrie from Guffland Studios in Melbourne. He helped me produce, record and master this album. He was fantastic to work with, always open to entertaining my wild ideas and adding a few of his own along the way where he saw fit. I’ve also had the absolute privilege of collaborating with some amazing artists, one of them being a very talented friend Nikota Kelly, we’ve been collaborating closely on the artwork and visual design of my singles and album cover. Her work naturally matched the exact style that I was looking for with these new recordings, our creative flow has been just perfect – it’s been incredible working with her and watching her illustrations come to life!”
A passionate audiophile, mentored by some of Australia’s finest, Charlie Bedford’s live performances also shine with his modern amalgamation of pop, rock, blues and soul, with upcoming shows locked in as part of Port Noarlunga Blues Fest in South Australia and also in Victoria set to close out 2024; and the promise of more shows on the horizon. “I’m currently performing numerous solo shows all around Victoria and surrounds,” shares Bedford. “Daydream is in the set as a more raw and stripped-back version. I’m currently organising the next events for the live show and will be touring it with a full band following the release of the new album!”
“It’s super exciting to finally be releasing this single, I’ve been working on this track and the others from my forthcoming album for a long time now, and to finally share them with everyone will be absolutely awesome,” Bedford concludes. “My new album Daydream will be released February 2025 and I’m ecstatic about it!”

PETE CORNELIUS ‘Hot on The Heels’ (Single)
‘Hot On The Heels’ is the new single from Pete Cornelius. The song, out now is the 4th single from his new album ‘Southern’ which will be out in February 2025. Love can come in a rush, or it can come slow; the slow, sweet and enduring love that comes with time – and ‘Hot On The Heels’ is most definitely about the latter.
Cornelius explains the song: “So, how did you two meet? A question all couples get asked at those awkward dinner parties. Some have cracker tales of adventure and lust, some high school sweethearts, others just don’t even remember. So yes, I met my now wife many times at gigs before we got together. Lots of great, sometimes persistent mutual friends, oh and her admirable CD collection sure helped sign the deal” he adds – laughing.
I wanted a song that felt like it had been around since the days of Laurel Canyon artists flooded the market, a soft shuffle with a familiar ease. Explore the exhilarating highs and tender moments of chasing love, where nothing compares to the magic of being utterly, blissfully alive.”
If there’s one thing everyone needs right now, it is love. And slow, sweet enduring love is the best kind of love. Give it a listen and warm that heart of yours. STREAM IT here, or head to Bandcamp: https://petecornelius.bandcamp.com
Pete will be doing a run of Tasmanian launch shows for the release of the album in 2025. Head to his website for more details on those.

FRANK TURNER & SLOWLY SLOWLY ‘Show People’ (Single)
Ahead of his return to Australian shores for Good Things Festival and a string of sideshows, legendary UK artist Frank Turner has teamed up with none other than Slowly Slowly frontman Ben Stewart for a reimagined rendition of ‘Show People’.
Originally appearing on Turner’s most recent LP ‘Undefeated’ released earlier this year, ‘Show People’ is a passionate rock anthem that exists as an ode to all those who chose life on a tour bus. Stewart’s addition works perfectly on the track, matching Turner’s uplifting energy and melding with his vocal style seamlessly – adding a new dynamic flavour that brings the song to new heights.
Written during some downtime in Germany whilst on tour with Billy Talent, Turner describes ‘Show People’ as “a celebration of being a touring person, for somebody who lives on the road living out of a suitcase”, and hopes that “a younger person who’s thinking about being a musician can find some solace” in the track. Forever a Frank Turner fan – Stewart resonated strongly with the track for obvious reasons, and jumped on as a feature as soon as he could after getting the call up.
“I have been a monstrous Frank Turner fan for so many years. After name checking him in ‘Turn It Around’ (a song from our 2022 record ‘Daisy Chain’), Frank reached out and it has now snowballed into me featuring on one his new tracks. Absolutely ecstatic to be able to call him a friend and so happy with how it all turned out – the song has a message I can really relate to. I hope we get to perform it live soon!” BEN STEWART, SLOWLY SLOWLY
Equally chuffed with the pairing – Frank was excited to have one of his favourite Australian acts feature on the track, and even goes so far as to say he may prefer this version over the original.
“Slowly Slowly are one of my favourite Australian bands, ever, so when I reached out on a whim to ask if they’d be part of a collaboration, I was blown away when Ben said yes. He brings such magic to his performance on what is one of the most important tracks from “Undefeated”, I kind of wish we could use this on the album proper. It’s an honour to have them involved.” FRANK TURNER
Frank will be bringing all the latest tracks from ‘Undefeated’ to Australia this December, where he will be joining the Good Things lineup (along with Korn, Sum 41 & Violent Femmes), and will also headline his own shows at the Factory Theatre in Sydney and The Corner Hotel in Melbourne.

SIOBHAN COTCHIN ‘Ghost of Us’ (Single)
Multiple WAM Award winning artist Siobhan Cotchin has returned, serving fans a brand new track in the emotionally charged ‘Ghost Of Us’. Continuing to show elevation in songwriting and performance, the latest from Cotchin further proves her status as one of Australia’s most exciting young names.
Built on a foundation of honest lyricism and striking melodies and instrumentation, ‘Ghost Of Us’ focuses on the feelings of being strung along in a relationship; the attachment to someone who you know should be let go. Through Cotchin’s raw delivery, the listener gets the emotional impact of the song instantly.
Co-written with Timothy Nelson and recorded at Debaser Studios, ‘Ghost Of Us’ is a strong follow up to Cotchin’s previous release for 2024, ‘Too Good To Be True’.
“I brought the idea to him (I just had the first verse and chorus) and we started out playing it as a ballad, but then it quickly escalated into an angry pop-rock anthem. I feel like this track has a nostalgic 90s rock quality to it but I also wanted to make sure it felt modern and of course, authentic.
However, when I was writing it, I really didn’t know where it came from. But now, having the experiences I do, the meaning has become a lot clearer and more relevant to me. I feel like we write songs just for them to come true, like a self-fulfilling prophecy. No wonder I’m so unlucky in love.” SIOBHAN COTCHIN
Cotchin’s music has been able to connect with national audiences in recent years largely due to her powerful presence as a live performer – touring the country as a headliner and also supporting some incredible Australian and international names. Along with lucrative performances at events including BIGSOUND and Laneway Festival, Cotchin has toured arenas with Matchbox Twenty and Goo Goo Dolls; as well as sharing stages with Leon Bridges, Thelma Plum, The Teskey Brothers, The Whitlams and more.

LOST SOULS ‘Dopamine’ (Single)
The new Lost Souls banger has arrived! Metalcore’s newest sensation are capping off a huge year with their latest single “Dopamine” out now (independent).
“Dopamine” is the ADHD anthem we’ve all been waiting for, and one these neurodivergent kindred spirits were born to write. Following on from their gigantic single “My Soldiers Rage” – featuring that viral ping pong ball breakdown which racked up more than 17 million views before the song even dropped – “Dopamine” continues the trend with a riff inspired by a bag of popcorn heating up in the microwave, which has also clocked up a million views. This towering beast of a track won’t be pried out of your head anytime soon.
Vocalist Kev explains the inspiration behind “Dopamine” in the most Kev way: “This isn’t really a song so much as it’s an anthem. It felt like it was time to deviate from singing about pop culture, I’m stoked with how those tracks have been received, but there’s a lot of people out there thinking that it’s funny or I’m joking, which I’m not. Dopamine is all about saying f*ck everything and everyone that wants to stuff genius into a box. Anyone that has ADHD knows that it comes with a lot of people jumping on your ass about shit that does not matter.
“The song was so fun to write as it’s not just a shout out to the neurodiverse fam out there, but also a celebration of the many, many things that give us that sweet dopamine hit,” he continues. “Music plays a big part in that, there’s so many songs or parts of songs that just release something inside me, no matter how I’m feeling. So we repped as many bands as we could just to say thanks and acknowledge their influence on our music, and getting us through life.”
Lost Souls are the heavy band everyone is talking about in 2024. This five-piece metalcore outfit has been tasked with the heavy burden of being Earth’s greatest musical achievement and its saviour. Their unorthodox songwriting methods and ability to turn mundane sounds into epic breakdowns has made them a force to be reckoned with. Lost Souls charged to the fore via their epic debut single, “Childhood Died”, which has had over five million views across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok (and climbing), more than a million streams on Spotify and garnered the attention of reaction channels around the globe. They followed it up with “The Return” and dropped a 7-inch that swiftly sold out. Next came “My Soldiers Rage” which took social media by storm with a breakdown that reverberated around the world before the single was even released, and even sparked some new ideas for a few veterans of the genre. 2024 may be drawing to a close but Lost Souls are just getting started. Big things are coming in 2025, stay tuned…

THE NOMADIC ‘Marie Antoinette’ (Single) ‘New Horizons’ (Album out December 14)
A haunting yet hopeful exploration of love, loss and growth, the stirring new single Marie Antoinette out now from Sydney singer songwriter The Nomadic offers a sweeping glance into the artist’s upcoming sophomore album, with New Horizons imminently beckoning for release on December 14.
Helmed by singer-songwriter Rob Gaylard, The Nomadic sweeps in today with a glimmering and oscillating bundle of melancholy and optimism, with Marie Antoinette stylistically nodding to the likes of early Coldplay, Radiohead, Phosphorescent, The War On Drugs, The 1975 and The National, while also fostering The Nomadic’s introspective and immersive unique flair. “Marie Antoinette is about being in a relationship with someone where things are so close to working but it’s not quite there,” explains Gaylard. “You both have work to do on yourselves, you both have hidden trauma, there’s a revolution coming for both of you! You just don’t know it yet! But over time you will come to see the silver lining in the current (painful!) cloud and realise that you grew from pain, suffering, hardship and crisis. The song is not about anyone in particular, just really inspired by the stage of life I was at and the observations of the world around me and the struggles friends and family were going through!”
After relocating back to Sydney in 2022 following years as a regular fixture on the New York City indie rock scene, Gaylard’s original designs for his latest body of sonic work also grew alongside working with some high-profile local talent, with an army of collaborators from around the industry joining Gaylard to grow The Nomadic journey; and, to ultimately bring both Marie Antoinette and its broader album New Horizons to full-bodied life. “I was lucky enough to work with some of the best in the business!” shares Gaylard. “I relocated home to Sydney Australia in 2022 and recorded New Horizons with Dan Frizza in Sydney at Forbes Studios. The Nomadic is the best of Aussie rock talent, with Miles Thomas (Lior, Ronan Keating, Montaigne) on drums, Oliver Thorpe (The Whitlams, Matt Corby, Meg Mac) on guitar, and Brendan Clark (Meg Mac, Montaigne, Jack River) on bass. Dan Frizza as producer lends the kind of magic touch that has seen him enrich the work of the likes of Tones and I, King Princess, and Gurrumul.”
Mastered by Greg Calbi of Sterling Sound in New Jersey, New Horizons builds upon the foundations set by The Nomadic’s 2022 debut album My Mind is Racing. Detailing themes of loss, change and hope amongst fluctuating moments of indie hues, classic and modern rock, wistful anthems, alt-country and more, New Horizons feels instantly intimate and welcoming, with many of Gaylard’s own powerful experiences percolating throughout. “The main themes of the album are feelings of being stuck in life and having the feeling that there is ‘something out there better for you’, of not wanting to let go of dreams, going through big changes professionally and personally, loss of relationships, and generally life upheavals!” Gaylard reveals. “This personal theme is set against the backdrop of major global changes and events, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, climate change, social and societal changes, and revolutions in the west.”
Imbued with a passion for music and songwriting from a young age, Rob Gaylard’s road to forming The Nomadic stemmed from his own nomadic lifestyle, living in five different countries in the first 10 years of his life, including Australia, Burma, Singapore, the Soloman Islands and the UK. This nomadic theme continued into Gaylard’s adulthood, with the talented creative living and working with the United Nations, national governments and NGOs in Kenya, Somalia, the Sudan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, and Israel/Palestine. Also a massive sports fan alongside his musical pursuits, Gaylard’s adventures under The Nomadic moniker entices listeners to enter a world of boundless melodies and wanderlust-inspired styles, first witnessed in 2022 with The Nomadic’s debut album My Mind is Racing, and set to flourish further this December with the release of New Horizons. Commencing The Nomadic project in 2014 off the back of immersing himself in the vibrant energy during a stint in New York City, Gaylard ultimately returned to his Australian roots in 2022, teaming up with producer Dan Frizza to begin work in earnest on New Horizons in 2023; and the rest is set to be history.
Marie Antoinette is out now. The Nomadic’s full-length album New Horizons is due out Saturday December 14.

FREYA JOSEPHINE HOLLICK ‘Ribbons’ (Single)
Freya Josephine Hollick’s brand new single Ribbons is out now. A delicate, moving breakup song, it’s a beautiful track. Of the song, Freya says: “I wrote Ribbons about a particularly painful break up I went through with a musician who used to play in my band, and each night when I closed my eyes, I felt like my heart was being taken out of my chest. I had this vision of an angel who would come and bind my chest closed again by wrapping me in blue satin ribbons. I wrote more lyrics for this song, which I felt were too raw to include, perhaps one day I will.
Ribbons was recorded in Josh Barber’s studio which is in an old church in Mollonghip, VIC. I sent him a phone recording of the song one morning, and later that day he sent me back a nearly complete song. He had played every instrument on the track. I went into the church not long after and lay down the lead and backing vocals across a couple of hours. I’m so proud of this song. It fortifies me when I listen to it. I love to be able to hear the strength of my heart in the way I sing this song. And I hope you can feel it too.
To anyone who has been hurt by love, I just want to extend this song to you, to keep shining your light, to keep loving, to keep being your beautiful radiant you, nobody can ever take that from you. Loving in this way reminds me of the Japanese art of Kintsugi, whereby broken ceramics are mended with gold. Mend your heart with gold each time it breaks, and you will be more beautiful and loving than ever.”
So take my body fair
Take the sunlight in my hair
Take my heart and strip it bare
For the love that once lived there
Ribbons is out now on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms via Cheersquad Records & Tapes.

DWIGHT YOAKAM ’’Brighter Days’ (Album)
21-time nominated, multiple Grammy Award winner and country superstar Dwight Yoakam’s first new album in nine years, Brighter Days, is out now on Via Records/Thirty Tigers/Civilians. Listen HERE.
Leading up to the release Yoakam unveiled three new songs: “I’ll Pay The Price”, “Wide Open Heart”, and “I Don’t Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom)” with Post Malone (watch/share the video HERE).
Written and recorded over the last three years, Brighter Days features 12 brand-new songs written/co-written by Yoakam, as well as three seemingly disparate covers—“Keeping On The Sunny Side” by the Carter Family, “Bound Away” by Cake and “Time Between” written by Chris Hillman of The Byrds—artfully woven into the same body of work in the unmistakable style that could only be Dwight Yoakam.
At once timeless and timely, Yoakam self-produced Brighter Days, infusing a modern appreciation for country music’s history with the trailblazing rock and roll spirit of California. The result is an album that reflects a sense of craftsmanship and immediacy, capturing the quintessential Dwight Yoakam “cool” that has set him apart from his country contemporaries since the beginning of his legendary career. As always, Yoakam’s lyrics throughout the album are both deceptively effortless and profoundly poignant. The album was mixed by world-class engineer Chris Lord-Alge.
Yoakam’s Cosmic Roundup & Rodeo tour continues as he sets new dates for Spring and Summer 2025. Kicking off February 6 and including shows New York City, Atlanta, Indianapolis and more. See HERE for complete list of dates.
Dwight Yoakam has sold over 26 million albums worldwide, with five reaching the #1 spot on Billboard. He is a 21-time nominated, multiple Grammy Award winner. He has 12 Gold albums and nine Platinum or multi-Platinum albums. Yoakam is the recipient of the Artist of the Year Award from the Americana Music Association, the prestigious BMI Country Awards’ President’s Award and has been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. He received a Lifetime Achievement Honor at the 2024 Americana Music Awards. He has collaborated with everyone from Beck to Kid Rock, ZZ Top, Hunter S. Thompson and Jack White. He has toured with the likes of Buck Owens, Johnny Cash and Hüsker Dü. Yoakam’s last album, Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars…, was released in 2016. Rolling Stone Country raves, “Yoakam sounds right at home on these new versions,” while NPR Music praises, “You can hear Yoakam making masterful choices on every phrase.”
In addition to his musical career, Yoakam has appeared in more than 40 feature films including Sling Blade, Panic Room and Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lucky with Channing Tatum and Daniel Craig, as well as a role in the Amazon series “Goliath.” Over the course of his storied acting career he has worked with the likes of Jodie Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Jared Leto, Matthew McConaughey and more.
In 1977, Yoakam left Kentucky for Nashville to embark on a music career but found that the Music City was moving away from traditional country roots to more pop-country. He found himself better suited to the post-Bakersfield movement and became one of the founding fathers of the L.A. Cowpunk Scene influenced by second-wave rockabilly and punk alongside X, Los Lobos, The Knitters, Rank & File and The Blasters.
SUPER MASSIVE ‘Caught In A Web’ (Single)
Currently gaining attention for his powerhouse drumming on the triumphant Machine Gun Fellatio reformation tour, ex-Sydney-now-Gold Coast-based drummer/composer/producer Glenn Abbott (Bryan Ferrysexual to MGF fans) today released a new single with his dance-rock side project, Super Massive.
Super Massive’s ninth single, Caught In A Web is a vibing, catchy alternative-pop banger that blends synthrock, electro, electro-pop, dance-pop, and elements of EDM (ie a stratospheric build and slamming drop).
The song was written, recorded and produced by Glenn Abbott and his Super Massive collaborator, singer/songwriter Malina Hamilton-Smith and was mixed and mastered by two of the best engineers in the country: Daniel Denholm, one of Australia’s most EMMY and ARIA Award-winning engineers, mixed the song (Sia, Powderfinger, Lime Cordiale, INXS, Kylie Minogue, Silverchair, Midnight Oil and many more).
Michael Lynch brought his many years of solid commercial experience to mastering the track (Snob Scrilla, Endorphin, Something For Kate, Jimmy Barnes, John Butler Trio, Midnight Oil and more).
Starting with a whispery vocal that seductively invites you to “Just lie back. Oh… relax”, the song soon kicks into an infectious beat that builds to a drop as big as Kirra Beach when it’s pumping, before sweeping the listener into a glorious, spirited, four-on-the-floor chorus with surf rock influences. Featuring compelling vocals and creative lyrics by singer/songwriter Malina Hamilton-Smith, Caught In A Web is an upbeat siren song – a digital-age fable – about the invisible ties that connect people, with under-layers about the increasingly merging virtual/real life interface that eloquently capture the zeitgeist of life for all of us human beings in the year 2024.
Always creative, Glenn and Malina have achieved a unique retro/futuristic sound by completely flipping EDM protocols on their head and fusing them with classic pop and rock. Squelching cyber-injected synths and electronic bass are driven by a fusion of electronic and real drum sounds played with cracking finesse by Glenn, who – as he’s demonstrating on his current MGF tour – is indisputably one of Australia’s finest drummers.
Percussive elements such as sharp handclaps, shaker sounds and an electronic snare mesh with pounding organic rock toms, kick drum & cymbals to create a unique, propulsive dance-inducing beat unlike anything else on the radio waves or in the ether right now. Super Massive are working towards a mini-album release and live shows in early 2025, to be announced in due course.
Caught In A Web is OUT NOW on Bandcamp and all online music distributors and streaming services.

EMMANUEL KELLY feat SHONE ‘Caught In A Web’ (Single)
Hot on the heels of his opening support slot for Coldplay on their Music of the Spheres tour in Australia and New Zealand, Emmanuel Kelly has just dropped a new remix of his latest single Caught In A Web, featuring fellow tour support act, Shone.
Emmanuel came to know the Zimbabwean R&B and Afrobeats singer-songwriter during the Coldplay tour, as Shone was asked to be one of the supports after Chris Martin saw him perform during a visit to Zimbabwe. Emmanuel said that soon after he and Shone connected, Emmanuel suggested they’d work together on a remix for his new single.
“The musical style of Shone and myself may be far apart but our dressing rooms backstage at Coldplay were next to each other – that’s how this collaboration came to be. We hung, we jammed and within 24 hours we created something unique and unexpected.”
Emmanuel also said the single Right From The Very Start is written from a place in the heart and reflects on a very special and personal memory.
“The orphanage was the only life I knew. Then one day I overheard a nun saying that someone was coming to get me and my brother to take us to a new home. I didn’t know if it was true. All I could do was hope,” Emmanuel said.
“I sat waiting on a window ledge for days with a song in my head that I’d written as a gift for the coming lady. It only had one lyric line “welcome, welcome, Aunty” but when the woman who I now call Mum arrived, I sang it at the top of my lungs. And what I remember most is the way it made her smile.”
The humanitarian worker, his mother, Mora Kelly, immediately fell in love with Emmanuel and his beautiful gift of song, and she eventually ended up adopting both Emmanuel and his brother Ahmed. Ever since then, Emmanuel has always found music to be an integral part of his life.
Right From The Very Start is the follow-up single to My Sky which has been named as one of the Top 30 Global Impact Songs for Australian Spotify in 2024. The original version of the new track is featured on Emmanuel’s debut EP No Zodiac which has been executively produced by Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin alongside Emmanuel Kelly and Josh Simons (CEO of Vinyl Group and Vampr).
In addition to the EP being available digitally, No Zodiac has been released by Vampr Distribution, a Vinyl Group company, and is being pressed by Suitcase Records on regrind, an eco-friendly material made from recycled vinyl. Each unique pressing not only reduces industrial plastic waste but also resonates with the environmentally conscious spirit of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour, making it both an economically and ecologically sound choice – and an immediate collector’s item.
Further to their music connection, Emmanuel Kelly and Chris Martin co-established 0utlyer Entertainment aimed at empowering and furthering authentic representation on screen and on stage of artists who feel themselves excluded due to their atypical physicality or emotional health. The company launched at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, and its first films are currently in production.
Right From the Very Start (Shone Remix) is currently available via streaming outlets.
FLETCHER KENT ‘I’ll Be’ (Single)
With introspective lyrics and captivating melodies, indie songwriter 23-year-old Fletcher Kent unveils his powerful and self-affirming debut single, ‘I’ll Be’ out now via AWAL. The track’s tender beginning swells into a thrilling, stadium-worthy crescendo, bursting with raw intensity and lyrical urgency that will leave listeners breathless.
LISTEN TO ‘I’LL BE’ HERE
The single was produced and mixed by Grammy & ARIA-Award winning Eric J who has worked with artists like Angus and Julia Stone, Teskey Brothers, Chet Faker, and The Rubens.
Fletcher reflects on the single, “I’ll Be seemed to just fall out… I didn’t even think it was a song at first: more of a poem, a personal manifesto. I feel there’s more of me in this song than maybe anything I’ve ever written. It’s about my life – all of it. Passion, purpose, family, love, grief, connection. It’s a look towards the future, a pledge to become the person I want to be, my intentions on how I want to live this life and exist in the world.”
The indie songwriter has made his mark globally, catching the attention of AWAL US President Pete Giberga who signed Fletcher to the label earlier this year.
Pete Giberga comments on the signing, “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Fletcher Kent to AWAL. He is a tremendous artist and songwriter whose undeniable talent is something we are all very eager to share with the world. I was fortunate enough to be introduced to his music a couple of years ago, and quickly realised how prolific he was. I’m always in awe of artists who have the ability to translate what they have written on a page to the stage, and Fletch does that seamlessly.”
Kobalt Publishing also marked him as “one to watch” signing a global deal with the 23-year-old. Managing Director of Kobalt APAC Simon Moor says, “We are incredibly excited to welcome Fletcher Kent to the Kobalt Music family. Fletcher is a talented and emotive songwriter whose ability to capture the essence of life through his music is truly remarkable. This signing is especially meaningful as it comes through the introduction of our dear friend Mike Taylor, who sadly passed away before he could see Fletcher’s first song released, I’ll Be. We are proud to be part of Team Fletcher from the very start and look forward to supporting his artistic journey, helping him grow his career globally, and sharing his music with the world.”
Fletcher reflects on these two major signings, “I am deeply grateful and excited to be starting off this journey with the guidance and support of AWAL Recordings and Kobalt Music. After focusing on my songwriting and developing my artistic voice over the last 5 years, I feel very privileged to kickstart this new chapter with both a label and a publisher that trust in me and my vision. These relationships were fostered through the belief and advocacy of my late co-manager Mike Taylor, who gave his heart to building this team around me and laying the foundations for each step to come. For Mike and this wonderful team, I am so thankful.”
Fletcher Kent has already lived lifetimes. Facing difficult life lessons, he’s transformed his journey into an intricate tapestry that fuels his music. Starting as a young busker in small country towns, Fletcher learned early on how to capture and connect with an audience. That raw, authentic spirit took him to stages supporting renowned artists like The Dreggs, Vera Blue, Kim Churchill, Winterbourne, Kyle Lionhart, Noah Dillon, and Didirri, and most recently a debut performance at The Mercury Lounge in New York.
Each performance only sharpened his craft, and every sticker on his first guitar case symbolised the distance travelled in his pursuit of music and meaning. His music dives into themes of heartbreak, resilience, and self-doubt, with lyrics that navigate the depths of human experience. With each song, Fletcher invites listeners to share in his journey, proving that even in the hardest moments, there’s a path forward.
Fletcher’s years of self-discovery have culminated in his brand-new single, and this is just the beginning—he’s gearing up to release even more music in 2025. Fans can see Fletcher perform ‘I’ll Be’ along with other new material next January 2025, with a month-long residency at The Royal in Bondi

THE BLOODSHOTS ‘Empty’ (Single)
Golden Robot Records are thrilled to announce the release of ‘Empty,’ the newest single from rock mainstays The Bloodshots, available now on all streaming platforms. Leaning into the moody undercurrent of ‘90s grunge, the band delivers a compelling track reminiscent of Seattle’s legendary alt-rock scene, capturing a melodic blend of emotional grit and evocative guitar work that gets audiences swaying from the first note.

This latest single stands as a testament to the band’s dynamic approach to rock, revealing their talent for nuanced storytelling while maintaining the raw edge that defines them.
With every release, The Bloodshots continue to cement their role as rising icons in modern rock. ‘Empty’ showcases a new side of their artistry, proving their commitment to pushing boundaries while remaining rooted in the powerful, timeless sounds of the genre’s past.

KING OF SWEDEN ‘Out of the Tunnel’ (Single)
Finnish progressive rock band King of Sweden have officially released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Out of the Tunnel, today via Golden Robot Records. Building upon the captivating story introduced in their debut album, The Training, this album presents the next and final chapter in the thematic journey of searching, self-discovery, and transformation that has become central to the band’s identity.
While The Training brought audiences into an odyssey of struggle and growth, Out of the Tunnel intensifies that narrative with both sonic and lyrical evolution. Musically, King of Sweden leans further into their hard rock-infused progressive sound, pushing the boundaries of melody and complexity while adding new layers of vocal harmonies and folk music influences. The result is an album that feels both expansive and deeply personal – a rich tapestry of sound and storytelling that stays true to the roots of progressive rock while daring to venture into new, uncharted territory. The creative development seen in Out of the Tunnel is a testament to King of Sweden’s commitment to evolving their unique sound and storytelling approach.
Out of the Tunnel is poised to make an impact in the progressive rock community with its intricate compositions and thematic depth, appealing to both new listeners and long-time fans of the genre. Stream ‘Out of the Tunnel’ HERE
SCHISM 21C ‘Think Tank’ (Single)
Think Tank is a song written in 1982 by Simon ‘Circus’ Rashleigh and Peter ‘Pog’ German from early 1980’s alternative indie band Schism from Melbourne Australia and is performed in 2023 and 2024 by the rebooted Schism 21C duo (consisting of original founding members of Schism) Simon Circus and Gordon Graham.
Think Tank is a cynical political song about the corruption of the democratic process by Think Tanks across the western world.
Think Tank is the first single off the forthcoming Schism 21C album ‘Only the Shell Remain’. Think Tank is a greatly energised post-punk-prog song that is both provocative and political, as it lyrically expresses about the corrosive effects that some Think Tanks in the western world have on democracy. The song is delivered with a punchy synthwave sonic performance shaded with darkwave sound colourings. STREAM HERE
The forthcoming new album has also been recorded and completed, reimagining the earliest of the original songs of Schism, and will be released in early 2025 on Vinyl, CD and Digital. Schism was a major unsigned force as part of Melbourne’s Alternative music scene during the early 1980’s packing out venues with their highly visual and theatrical headline shows as well as sharing the stage with the likes of The Birthday Party, Hunters and Collectors, INXS, Dead Can Dance, Beargarden, Real Life, Pseudo Echo and Plays with Marionettes at venues such as The Crystal Ballroom, Macys, The Jump Club and The Venue at Earls Court to name but a few.
Their 1982 self-titled cassette album garnered some great interest and airplay on 3RRR and 3PBS in Melbourne as well as being exported to Japan and Germany in small amounts by Melbourne Indie record stores such as Missing Link and Gaslight Records.

ELA MINUS ‘Upwards’ (Single)
Last month, Colombian artist Ela Minus announced her new album, DIA, out January 17, 2025 via Domino, and released the “swaying, cathartic dance anthem” (Brooklyn Vegan) ‘BROKEN’. Today, Ela unveils ‘UPWARDS’, presenting Ela relishing in pure pop splendour. An unabashed and addictive theme song for safeguarding yourself, your body, and your soul, ‘UPWARDS’ is unforgettable on first listen. It is propelled by an unrelenting pulse and sharp refrain, as Ela chants over and over “I’d love to save you / but you’ve got to save yourself,” all while aggressive and busy synths bounce underneath, feeling like lasers waging a war against the song itself.
Watch the Video for ‘UPWARDS’ Here
The ‘UPWARDS’ video, which sees Ela collaborating with directors Albert Estruch & Marc Sancho, creates a unique visual and auditory experience by featuring Ela in the center of a circle with her instruments, surrounded by cameras and screens that capture and show different angles of the action in real time.
Ela has also announced her debut live Australian dates for March 2025, including performances at Golden Plains, WOMADelaide and Pitch Music & Arts Festival. As Hearing Things described a recent live performance, Ela’s “hypnotic pop-techno made it feel like time had turned inside out.” Touring details below.
Following Ela’s charged 2020 debut, acts of rebellion, DIA is a rarified feat in electronic music, where cutting-edge production and space-shuddering sonics meet a burgeoning singer-songwriter’s real sense of self-reflection and private reckoning. Where acts of rebellion felt intentionally small, as if pounding inside the club with late-night reverie, DIA is both introspective and expansive, the wide sweep of its songs revealing more of Ela as person and producer than ever before.
Watch the video for ‘COMBAT’ Here Watch the video for ‘BROKEN’ Here
Throughout the 10 songs, mixed by Marta Salogni and mastered by Heba Kadry, Ela seems to saddle a line between worlds of pop accessibility and experimental aplomb, her incandescent and catchy choruses always surrounded by meticulous and imaginative sonics. DIA is a record about becoming, from a process that entailed self-discovery at a deliberate pace to songs that seem to collectively ask where we go from here, long after we’ve been broken but long before we intend to be broken forever. “I want to be better,” Minus sings in the hook of the title track, her voice a militant chirp pulling against a plunging bassline. “I thought I was better.” Opening the mountain and exposing her deepest worries, DIA marks the next phase of Ela Minus’ career and life without declaring where any of it may or must go.
As previously announced, Synth Historyis launching an ongoing and in depth docu-series on Ela’s story and music. Preview the first episode here and second here. Ela recently launched www.forthebirds.xyz, a platform where fans can write to Ela, and she writes back, covering personal and technical topics or whatever approach grabs her interest.

JET CITY SPORTS CLUB ‘Mini Skirt’ (Single)
With soaring melodies and emotive lyrics, Sydney indie-rock group JET CITY SPORTS CLUB are back with a brand new single titled ‘MINI SKIRT’.
The band’s latest release is a strong addition to a catalogue that has included the Every Single Dream EP; a career defining moment for Jet City Sports Club, continuing to build upon the momentum the last few years have generated. As one of the East Coast’s exciting fresh players, Jet City Sports Club have been working hard on creating music that focuses on the vision they have for their music moving into a brand new year.
With a song like ‘Mini Skirt’, the band is taking strong steps into this new direction. Recorded with Fletcher Matthews (Trophy Eyes, Dear Seattle, Stumps) at his studio in Glebe, Jet City Sports Club pulled influences from artists they love, including The Cure, Holly Humberstone and The Beaches, while pushing their honest brand of storytelling and delivery further than they had on previous releases.
Of the song, the band describes ‘Mini Skirt’ as being about “growing up” and realising there isn’t necessarily one right way to do things or move through life.
“…you don’t have to be perfect or conform to the ways your friends, family or the world might want you to. The story is narrated from the perspective of a young girl going through serious body image issues and pressure to be someone they might not necessarily be. The verses talk about this and the chorus aims to reclaim a sense of independence and self worth.” JET CITY SPORTS CLUB
The vibrancy and confidence heard on this music matches the energy Jet City Sports Club have taken into their live performances in recent years as well. Since their debut in 2021, the group has gone from strength to strength, touring with artists including Ruby Fields, Old Mervs, Dear Seattle and more; while also performing sets at Lost Paradise and the Mountain Goat Valley Crawl and with upcoming summer spots at Rolling Sets and Party In The Paddock.
Extensive support via Triple J, Triple J Unearthed and community radio, as well as DSPs (Spotify’s Fuzzy, Fresh Finds; Apple Music’s NMD, Good Times, New Indie, Pop Chill and more), have established Jet City Sports Club as an Australian indie group to watch. With each release the band steps up to the plate and proves all of this and more.

SEREN SPAIN ’Take Me’ (Single)
Naarm (Melbourne) & Reading-based [UK] indie-folk artist Seren Spain returns with her highly anticipated brand new single, “TAKE ME” set for release on 21st November 2024 (AEST). This follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut, “You Lost Nothing,” offers a deeply introspective exploration of resilience, creativity, and the delicate balance between ambition and inner peace.
Keep an eye out for her Debut EP that will be released in February 2025. Seren’s name is Gaelic for star, and already she is being acknowledged as just that, with an invitation to play an Official Showcase at Ireland’s Folk Conference, Your Roots are Showing, Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland, in January 2025, followed by a trip to Celtic Connections in Glasgow and back down to AMAUK in Hackney, London, UK.
ABOUT “TAKE ME”
The story behind “Take Me” spans over a decade. “The first line of this song came to me when I was just 14, wandering around England,” Seren shares. “But I couldn’t quite capture it back then. It wasn’t until ten years later, during a really challenging time, that the riff resurfaced. I sat at the piano, and within 10 minutes, the entire song poured out of me, stream-of-consciousness style.” Determined to bring the song to life, Seren teamed up with award-winning producer Mitch Cairns, spending time perfecting its acoustic sound.
The track is a soaring ballad: a testament to patience and precision, featuring a rich, textured arrangement of live acoustic instrumentation. The finishing touches came from Grammy-nominated sound engineer Erick Jaskowiak, who mixed the song with a delicate touch, and multi-Grammy winner David Glasser, who brought his mastering expertise to the project.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Seren describes “Take Me” as a layered narrative, exploring the tension between creative ambition, the desire to surpass limitations without being burnt by egoic temptations. “It’s a song about facing down self-doubt and the inner critics, taking a leap of faith into the unknown,” she says. “But it’s also a cautionary tale, a nod to the myth of Icarus — warning that while we chase the light, the ego can sometimes burn us.”
With her signature haunting vocals and evocative lyricism, Seren has crafted a song that’s both deeply personal and universally relatable. The release of “Take Me” sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting 2025. She’s set to showcase at Your Roots Are Showing, Ireland’s leading folk conference, in January, marking her debut at the prestigious event.
Following her showcase, Seren will embark on an extensive tour across Ireland and the UK, bringing her spellbinding live performances to new audiences. Known for her captivating stage presence, this tour is a chance for fans to experience her music in an intimate, live setting. “Take Me” is now streaming on all major platforms, offering a fresh chapter in Seren Spain’s burgeoning career — one that’s set to reach new heights in the year ahead.

THE BRAVE ‘Breaking Out’ (Single)
Meanjin/Brisbane-based metal band The Brave have returned from hiatus with their first track since 2019, ‘Breaking Out’ – produced and mixed by Troy Brady.
‘Breaking Out’ thrashes with a torrent of searing riffs and thunderous drums, creating a visceral landscape of tension and release. Raw, impassioned vocals tear through, rising to an anthemic chorus that captures the darkly atmospheric yet piercing soundscape.
Lead singer Nate Toussaint talks about the inspiration behind ‘Breaking Out’: “There were a few things happening in my life that were causing me this overwhelming feeling of frustration at the time that ‘Breaking Out’ was being written. As the song started getting fleshed out, I wanted to ensure that feeling was conveyed lyrically. I knew I wanted the song to be quite repetitive, first to get stuck in people’s heads, but also because for me at the time, it was that constant repetition, that Groundhog Day feeling that was wearing me down and burning me out. We’ve all been there and had those days where you just want to say fuck it, I’m out of here! I’m getting off this mouse wheel that is just going round and round, is doing nothing to get me any further and is just slowly wearing me down…I’m breaking out of here.”
Accompanying the release is a sci-fi-inspired music video filmed and directed by Ten Of Swords Media’s Colin Jeffs (RedHook, Future Static). Drawing from the eerie, atmospheric visuals of 80s/90s films like the Alien franchise, the clip sees the band awakening from hypersleep in a sterile, enigmatic escape-room setting. This surreal reawakening reflects their fierce musical resurgence, capturing the grit of reclaiming their sound and the intensity of breaking free from enforced dormancy.
In the live scene, The Brave have toured with Falling In Reverse (USA), Hellions (USA), Alpha Wolf, Parkway Drive, Thornhill, Northlane, Void of Vision and have sold out multiple headline shows across Eora/Sydney and Meanjin/Brisbane. They will also be joining shows with In Hearts Wake, Ocean Sleeper and Inertia in early 2025.

GOON GREMLINS ’Tell Your Friends You Love Them’ (EP)
Spending 2024 consistently building towards this moment off the back of singles ‘Baby Can’t Bite’, ‘Jesus Was A Goon Sack’ and ‘Nostalgia’, Newcastle’s Goon Gremlins have arrived at an exciting milestone for their year: the release of their debut EP, Tell Your Friends You Love Them.
6 tracks of vibrant and rich indie music that captures the essence of Goon Gremlins perfectly, Tell Your Friends You Love Them is an intensely personal offering, as much as it has been made to connect with their fans and new audiences alike.
‘Shifting Space’ – an EP highlight and focus of the record – is a beautiful dedication to Angelina Burke’s brother Xavier, who passed away as a teenager. The ideas of loss, grief, and life’s fleeting phases are explored with nuance and sensitivity here; ‘Shifting Space’ is a tribute, but also a love letter to healing.
Applying these sentiments to the broader EP, Burke explains, “It’s a reminder to tell the people that you care about that they are appreciated. This is especially true as life is fleeting and losing someone can leave you wishing you said it more. I wrote the song to let him know that I was broken for a very long time, but now seven years later I’m at a place where I can finally claim that I’m doing okay. Not to say that my guts still don’t twist when I think about it, but it’s shifted into something more of an appreciation that I got to grow up with someone like him. My friends, many of whom knew my brother well, were entirely the reason I was able to cope with his loss and push through every other dark place.” GOON GREMLINS, ANGELINA BURKE
Tell Your Friends You Love Them journeys themes of perseverance and enjoying life as well, especially when surrounded by your closest friends and loved ones.
The way Goon Gremlins have continued to evolve into such a tight unit over the last few years, is testament to their connection as a group going through the motions of creativity and personal growth together. And it can be heard on tracks like ‘Wasted’ and ‘Jesus Was A Goon Sack’.
Recording Tell Your Friends You Love Them with Gareth Hudson at Hazy Cosmic Jive, Goon Gremlins felt supported in having the opportunity to have fun and experiment in the studio. “Gareth is an amazing producer and brings such a comfortable energy to the studio that it allowed us to experiment with different sounds we wouldn’t have initially implemented into the tracks. ‘Nostalgia’ and ‘Shifting Space’ both use an Ebow on the electric guitar to create harmonies and dreamy riffs that are carried throughout the songs. We wrote new harmonies and lead lines for a lot of the songs in the recording process itself. These were the last things that tied them together and made the songs we’ve been playing for years finally complete.” GOON GREMLINS, ANGELINA BURKE
With the release of Tell Your Friends You Love Them, Goon Gremlins are anticipating a great summer ahead. Racking up impressive performances at events like SpringFest and The Gum Ball, as well as supporting notable names including Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, The Buoys and Pacific Avenue; the band will be capping off their 2024 schedule with appearances at The Peoples Blockade on the 22nd of November in Newcastle (alongside Peter Garrett, Angie McMahon and John Butler), before headlining their own Newcastle show on the 7th of December at Playstate on Fern. The band have also been tapped to support DZ Deathrays next year, opening up for the legendary band during their Newcastle Leg in March.

FOLEY ‘Heartstrings’ (Single)
Pop duo Foley return today with their latest single; an exhilarating new love song titled ‘Heartstrings’. The Eora/Sydney-based band, who moved across the ditch from Aotearoa just earlier this year, have released the new track alongside the news of their upcoming sophomore album That’s Life, Baby!, set to be released on February 28th, 2025.
Ever the masters of infectious melody and syrupy-sweet pop goodness, Foley continue to outdo themselves with each new glimmering release– and ‘Heartstrings’ is no exception. A layered track overflowing with warm and buoyant vocals, not to mention a tonne of bubbly, 80s-inspired synths, the new single bears an upbeat soundscape, and creates an uplifting mood beyond worthy of the title of “love song”. Lyrically, the single finds a balance between sweet and cheeky, flawlessly mimicking the myriad of exciting feelings that tend to come with new love. On the story and meaning behind the song, the band said;
“We are so confident now in what Foley’s sound is after releasing our first album, that this next run of songs has been such a dream to put together. ‘Heartstrings’ comes from the giddiness of a new flame/lover, wanting to reach and aspire to their greatness even if you’re being a bit blinded by rose tinted glasses. The fine line between love and obsession; having an admiration for someone that makes them addictive to you. Hypnotising and stupidly entrancing, you realise that the thought of this person is so powerful to you it’s tearing you apart.” FOLEY
Created on a writing getaway, ‘Heartstrings’ was a collaborative experience that came to life amongst conversations of the crazy ways that love and attraction can drive us to feel and act. The band said, of these shared experiences and the writing process that they fuelled;
“We wanted to get out of the city, so brought all our gear over to Auckland’s Waiheke Island for the weekend, and let the location be the extra member of the band – writing freely, letting our moods and the stunning weather dictate the direction of the production and songwriting. All four of us connected on some shared experiences of silly, almost risky attraction – where you’re so enamoured with another person that you’ll do anything to gain their favour, even if they’re not super into you! The pulsing synths got us thinking of old 80s exercise videos, so there’s some cheeky references to that in the lyrics – and you can really hear the sunshine and infectious energy that was bubbling away in the room that day.” FOLEY
Set to be followed by a full-length record titled That’s Life, Baby! In February next year, ‘Heartstrings’ marks the next step towards a new era that will be brought in by the band’s second studio album.
“That’s Life, Baby! sums up our approach to life in a nutshell – we go through highs and lows, love, loss, trauma, but at the end of the day we are positive, light-hearted and optimistic because we have each other through it all. The album is a collection of stories and experiences from the last year, each track describing an interaction with those around us, or a realisation within ourselves, that has had a lasting impact on us as people; each one a little slice of our lives.” FOLEY
