OSCAR BADMAN ‘A Little Respect’ (Single out November 29)
Born in London, based in Sydney, Oscar Badman is a unique 18 year old singer-songwriter from Sydney, Australia with the thunderously-deep voice and sultry sound that sets him apart from the rest. His voice dropped “about a metre” in high-school, and he’s been singing down there ever since. Inspired by the likes of Zach Bryan and Dylan Gossett, Badman sings tales of ambition, heart-ache and desire that give a youthful energy to his music, which has blazed through to his latest single ‘A Little Respect’, releasing in November 2024.
‘A Little Respect’ goes out to all the broken-hearts out there, and it serves as a token to those who want to prove themselves in a noisy and competitive world.
“I gave everything, all that I know, maybe you can show me a little respect” – Oscar Badman, ‘A Little Respect’ 2024

ROSE RIEBL ‘Mad World’ (Single)
Acclaimed pianist and post-classical composer Rose Riebl is set to release her highly anticipated cover of the 1982 classic ‘Mad World’ by British band Tears for Fears. The transformative interpretation marks the debut release from [ B E N T : a shape ], a new label founded by visionary Ben Pierpoint.
Sharing her deeply personal connection with the record, Rose details “six years ago I was asked to play ‘Mad World’ at a dear friend’s funeral. It was a packed St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne, and a room full of heartbroken people. After the burial there was a huge storm, and walking home through the rain I knew I had to record this version that night, while his soul was still close by.
“I adore Tears for Fears, and this is such a simple, beautiful, haunting song. While my version is instrumentally closer to the Gary Jules’ cover, it’s the original lyrics that capture an alienation many of us have felt at the edges of. In my version I came back to them a lot, and wanted to express the fractured / fractal nature of a city through the echoing, splintering piano layers; loneliness through the sparse piano sections; the finality and inevitability in that low, deep octave drop.”
Further speaking to the long awaited release of her rendition, Rose shares “this song has been waiting for the perfect moment and release partner. It’s meaningful to me to be releasing with Ben and an Australian independent label. This song is dedicated to Daniel Christidis and his beautiful family.”
As the creative force behind the label, Pierpoint aims to champion neo-classical, post-classical, and ambient music, providing a home for unique and genre-defying projects. “I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a label-home for neo-classical, post-classical, and ambient music for 5+ years. So here it is, a home for those albums and side projects that are just a little bit bent,” said Pierpoint. “Meeting and working with Rose Riebl was the catalyst I was waiting on to press the go button. Rose has developed a distinct voice within the genre, creating stunning sonic universes for the audience to dive into and engage with.”
Ben Pierpoint, who also manages talents such as Ngaiire, GODTET, Jamaica Moana, Alex Turley, Dino Dimitriadis and Wallace, built Ben Pierpoint Management with the ethos of being a natural extension of the artist. With a focus on nurturing lifelong careers, the launch of [ B E N T : a shape ] solidifies his vision to invest deeply in his artists and their projects.
“The heart of [ B E N T : a shape ] is to develop a community of artists and composers undefined by genre. It’s to find and develop an active audience of music lovers not bound to one formula, style or algorithm.” Pierpoint added. “It is a testing ground for ambitious side projects, exploration and cross-artform collaboration. With projects spanning from post-classical to electronica, [ B E N T : a shape ] isn’t dictated by data and analytics, it’s led by unique storytelling, daring originality and uniquely defined artistic voices.”

GREAT AMERICAN GHOST “Kerosene” (Single/Video) ‘Tragedy of the Commons (Album out January 31)
Great American Ghost share the arrival of Kerosene, the fourth single from the band’s upcoming album Tragedy Of The Commons out January 31st on SharpTone Records. The track opens the record with a buzzsaw riff and pummeling industrial-style beat. Taking inspiration from bands like Nine Inch Nails and HEALTH as much as Slayer and Meshuggah, Kerosene signals Great American Ghost’s ability to write killer songs that transcend genre. The video for the track, directed and edited by Anthony Altamura, evokes a spine-chilling and anxious blend of horror.
Watch the music video for Kerosene here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwuVTjc1md4
Vocalist Ethan Harrison comments on the song: “Kerosene is a song about absolute nihilism. If the world is truly hopeless, forlorn, irredeemable, then this is its anthem.”
Upholding an uncompromising vision with clear intention, Great American Ghost know exactly what they want to say about their community, the greater world around them, and humanity as a species. Tragedy Of The Commons offers a powerful statement on exploitation, oppression, and scarcity. On the Will Putney produced record, Great American Ghost transmit their message without filter delivered through a combination of basement-born hardcore spirit, staggering metallic precision, polemic lyrical provocations, and unexpectedly arresting melodies.
Tragedy Of The Commons is available for preorder now through SharpTone Records.
Great American Ghost have a hometown headline show in Manchester, New Hampshire on December 14th at Jewel Music Venue. The band will join Bleed From Within and After The Burial on a European tour next year.

PARCELS ‘leaveYourLove’ (EP)
This week the beloved Australian indie-pop band Parcels has added a first to their stacked catalogue of songs– a collaboration with featured artists. Unveiling their Leaveyourlove EP, out now via Because Music, the EP sees the group working with artists across the globe for fresh spins on their new, and already fan-favourite song, ‘Leaveyourlove’. Parcels had a hand in each of the reworked songs, balancing different time zones, languages and more to create a beautiful new project for the world inspired by the world.
About the EP, the band reflected, “The idea for the ‘Leaveyourlove’ EP came early. The song was a simple and fun expression of love from different angles, Pat, Jules and Noah each traded verses. We enjoyed this sweet collaborative feeling, it felt right with the song, so we quickly had the idea to open it up to people outside of the band too! We imagined friends and artists we liked from around the world jumping in and writing their own expressions of love into the song. In different languages, in different styles. It would be the first time we ever collaborated with feature artists, so it felt good to open that up to a group of great artists from around the world, something that felt larger and deeper than the song itself.
Some of the artists were already friends, some were connections made online from many miles away. Some of the sessions were had together recrafting the song in the studio, some from a distance, sharing files and ideas. Some will never see the light of day.”
The EP features fellow Australians King Stingray who said “We were absolutely over the moon when we first got asked to do a song with Parcels. We are huge fans of the band and have been for many years. We first saw them play at Woodford many years ago and it totally blew us away. Since then their live studio albums have been so inspiring for us and have been on high rotation on and off the road.
Working on this song was just so dreamy. We had so much fun working on this at the Mulkaart Center in Yirrkala with Arian Pearson who we’ve been working with and recording music since we were kids. Some of our first ever songs were recorded at this place and it was so cool to be back here after several years. We also recorded some vocals at subsonic studio with Matthew Cunliffe who was an original keyboard player for the band Yothu Yindi of which our family are members of. The song is so beautiful and fun and we had so much fun working on it with Parcels!”
In addition to King Stingray the EP also features recent Latin GRAMMY-award winner Rawayana and Mexican singer-songwriter Ximena Sariñana. She noted, “I love Parcels so I jumped at the opportunity to work with them. I loved the freedom with which they allowed the collaboration to happen, and I loved the energy that Beto from Rawayana added to the song, it felt very inspiring and unique. I think our version of the song wanted to emphasize that creative and bouncy energy new love brings, as well as the excitement of uncertainty.”
Adding to the Latin flare Rawayana and Sariñana bring to their collab, the EP explores a variety of styles (Berlin house greatness Robert Owens & Tobi Neumann to stripped back to basics stylings of MARO) and languages (King Stingray’s verses in native Yolŋu Matha, and Mandarin raps and Cosmos People and HaoTing from Sunset Rollercoaster).
Cosmos People said about the collaboration, “To me, this song represents the universality of love. I felt love when Parcels invited us to collaborate on ‘Leaveyourlove’. I felt it while producing the song, and I feel it every time I listen. My hope is that listeners will feel that same love—even if they don’t fully understand the lyrics. Love can really transcend language.” With HaoTing adding, “When I first heard this song, it made me think of the feeling of first love.”
‘Leaveyourlove’ was the first single of 2024 from the group and has swiftly become a fan-favourite from the group. Released last month, the song has amassed over 2 million streams as the band returns to the studio to work on their anticipated third studio album, the follow-up to their acclaimed 2021 album Day/Night. Watch this space for more details.
Parcels recently came off an extensive tour that saw them perform to their biggest crowds to date across the world, including a one-off, sold-out, special live performance at iconic outdoor music venue Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and appearances at the world’s biggest festivals such as Bonnaroo and Corona Capital. The band will head to South America in early 2025 to play 4 dates on the Lollapalooza festival series. Following the series, the group will head to Indio, California for two weekends playing the iconic Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Parcels are keyboardist Louie Swain, keyboardist/guitarist Patrick Hetherington, bassist Noah Hill, drummer Anatole “Toto” Serret, and guitarist Jules Crommelin. The band released their debut, self-titled album in 2018 and it has since gone double Platinum. Aside from studio albums, Parcels have also showcased their performance prowess on live albums Live Vol. 1 and Live Vol. 2, both of which display a different side to the band in terms of musicianship and approach to their studio material. To date they’ve amassed over one billion streams, 600k album sales worldwide, with cross-continental tours under their belt.

OLD MERVES ‘Parched’ (Single out now) SELF-TITLED DEBITA LBUM (out March 2025)
Australia’s favourite rising indie-rock duo, Old Mervs, announce the release of the widely anticipated self-titled debut album, “Old Mervs”, out Friday March 21 (Dew Process/UMA) available to pre-order, along with the latest single and video clip “Parched” out now.
The album “Old Mervs” is an encapsulation of everything people love about Old Mervs, but more exploratory and freewheeling than ever before. Across its 11 tracks it surges from shimmering Australian indie to chugging Brit-pop to gorgeously woozy ‘90s West Coast alt-rock. The album was recorded in a studio in the lush Byron Bay hinterland and produced by ARIA award-winning and acclaimed producer Chris Collins (Matt Corby, Royel Otis, Alex Lahey).
In making the album, every morning, bandmates Dave House (guitar and lead vocals) and Henry Carrington-Jones (drums, backing vocals), would surf in the calm blue waters alongside Collins, before settling back into the studio to play for no one but each other. It was a world away from Old Mervs’ usual stomping ground, Kojonup, a small-town southeast of Perth, and the perfect place to carve out an expansive debut album, their confident statement of arrival, “Old Mervs.” The duo wanted to push themselves to find something new. “It was a natural progression,” House reflects. “We were looking for a new dynamic.”
The opener track “Parched” is the latest release and one of the biggest sonic flexes on the record, as the duo expertly weave in ‘90s Seattle alt-rock to their distinctive sound. Dave shares, “Parched was one we wrote with Chris Collins in the studio. It was so fun mucking around with more heavy tones and generally writing a song that had a completely different feel to most of the album. It almost got binned from the album, I had the chords but couldn’t make anything work then Chris picked up the guitar and played through the chords and we started to build it from there.”\
Henry admits, “one of the highlights of the album was recording “Parched”. We really delved into another style of our sound and leaned into some 90’s West Coast surf rock. For me personally I couldn’t get Hole’s “Malibu” film clip out of my head after we all talked about going real 90’s surf rock. It’s probably the hardest rock track on the album but is super easy listening in its own way. Most importantly it’s a ripper to play together and bash out live!”
The music video clip was directed, shot and edited by Andrew Briggs and filmed in Hamilton Hill, Scarborough Beach and CARCO.com.au Raceway, Neerabup.
Watch the official music video clip “Parched”
“Parched” is the third taste of new music from the debut album, following the chart-topping single, “What You’ve Lost” , which was #1 triple j most played, and “Forget It” which have all garnered support across Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon with over 2 million combined streams.
Having just wrapped up their biggest headline tour across New Zealand and Australia, cheekily named “How The Fark Are Ya? Tour”, the duo are currently in the UK on their first international headline tour visiting Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Bournemouth, Bristol and Falmouth before returning home to perform at Rolling Sets Festival on Saturday December 7 and Changing Tides Festival on Saturday December 14.
Created with freedom and optimism, the debut album “Old Mervs” is, in many ways, a celebration. A celebration of how they got here, a celebration of where they are going, and a loving celebration of their fans – who have been by their side since those early days bashing out tunes on the farm. “It’s written for them as much as it’s written for us,” Henry says.

Saturday December 7 – Rolling Sets Festival, Central Coast, NSW
Saturday December 14 – Changing Tides Festival, Kiama, NSW

JOEY SACHI feat AKINAT ‘7 SECONDS’ (Single)
Tokyo-via-Sydney singer/songwriter Joey Sachi has teamed up with producer AKINAT on her latest single ‘7 Seconds’; a euphoric electronic-pop track that was inspired by the life story of classical musician Clive Wearing.
Born and raised in Sydney, Joey Sachi is currently living and working in Tokyo – a move that has helped her flourish creatively through work with some amazing artists and producers in the Japanese capital.
Inspired by artists such as Jamie xx, Mount Kimbie & Sabrina Claudio, Sachi’s sound feels like it could truly go anywhere. Not afraid to embrace new styles and textures, on ‘7 Seconds’ she continues to push the envelope, with compelling vocal modulation and dynamic melodies.
On ‘7 Seconds’ Sachi has teamed up with producer AKINAT, and the result is one her strongest releases to date – with a crisp, uplifting instrumental that complements Sachi’s soaring vocals perfectly. With deep roots in Australia, AKINAT is a Tokyo based electronic producer who draws influence from genre-defining electronic artists such as Four Tet and Jon Hopkins. AKINAT combines technical production know-how with subtle convention defying harmonic language in the pursuit of further afield sounds.
Sonically, the pair describe their time working on the track, as they “wanted to experiment making a track inspired by Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ with a simple beat/layers and a topline influenced by Stevie Nicks’ melodic creativity.”
Joey Sachi has been surrounded by music since she was born – citing her parents as a key influence on her musical journey. One of her parents was a classical musician – which inspired Joey to eventually study classical music at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney. In a full circle moment – the themes on ‘7 Seconds’ were directly inspired by British classical musician Clive Wearing; an accomplished conductor, Tenor and pianist who suffered from retrograde amnesia towards the end of his life.
“Clive Wearing is a British classical musician whose life was devastatingly impacted by a rare and severe form of memory loss. The profoundly beautiful part of Clive’s story is that his wife Deborah remained a constant in his life – the deepest of connections…almost instinctual, that despite his memory resetting every few seconds allowed him to always seek comfort amongst his fragmented existence. Inspired by his story we created ‘7 Seconds’, exploring the divine beauty in a love so deep, one that endures all the ebbs and flows of life.” JOEY SACHI
Since releasing her first single ‘If I Ask’ back in 2021, Sachi has continued to build momentum within all corners of the industry, at home and abroad. Making waves locally with airplay on stations such as 4ZZZ, 2SER and 2RRR, and praise from tastemakers such as Happy Mag, Backseat Mafia & AAA Backstage; Sachi has also seen seen support overseas, with adds to editorial playlists from Spotify & Apple Music in Japan for her collaboration with Japanese artist STAR GUiTAR on ‘One Way’ in 2023.
‘7 Seconds’ is out November 26th

TIM HART (Boy & Bear) ‘Kingdom By The Sea’ (Single)
Boy & Bear’s Tim Hart has just released his stunning new single ‘Kingdom By The Sea’. The first song from an upcoming two-EP series, ‘Kingdom By The Sea’ is reminiscent of early music from The Shins and Bon Iver and provides an optimistic reflection of self-determination.
“The Kingdom By The Sea, named after the Paul Theroux book of the same name is a track written while on tour in a time of self reflection. It’s reminder to not let yourself become complacent. To move out of your comfort zone and to stop making excuses for not living the life that you really want to. Ultimately I’d like to think of it as a reality check but with a sprinkling of hope”. – Tim Hart
As well as being a founding and current member of Australian Indie royalty, Boy & Bear, Tim is a singer-songwriter, producer/mixer and multi-instrumentalist in his own right and has worked with the likes of Joe Ciccarelli (White Stripes, The Shins, Morrissey, My Morning Jacket), Ethan Johns (Kings of Leon, Laura Marling, Ray Lamontagne), Collin Dupuis (The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey, St Vincent), Wayne Connelly (You am I, Youth Group, The Paper Kites).

NICK CUNNINGHAM ‘With You’ (Single)
Brisbane-based indie-folk songwriter Nick Cunningham has been showing consistent evolution in his brand of personal and intimate storytelling across a range of releases stretching back to his debut EP, Letters, back in 2015.
The music has painted some beautiful portraits that offer the listener a glimpse into Cunningham’s world of observations and influences; through into 2024, where Cunningham’s latest EP No Flowers, No Rain introduced yet another matured facet to his artistry.
Today, Cunningham releases another gorgeous addition to this ever-growing catalogue with new single, ‘With You’. Musically inspired by artists such as The Lumineers, Ziggy Alberts and The Dreggs, ‘With You’ was created to feel like, in Cunningham’s words, “a coastal road trip”.
Recorded at Studio Byron, Cunningham’s ideas for the track initially came together in Adelaide. As he describes, “I wrote the finger-picked guitar riff to this song in a hotel room in Adelaide the morning after meeting my now partner. We met while we were performing at an event in Adelaide of all places, and happened to live two suburbs apart in Brisbane. We had this trip away to the coast after a few dates and the lyrics really came from that.”
The stripped back recording came as a refreshing moment for Cunningham, who relished the opportunity to lay the track down in a different way – without a full band in the studio.
A natural charm and talent for weaving words together into striking arrangements has seen Cunningham perform at the likes of Splendour In The Grass and Bluesfest Byron Bay, as well as supporting the likes of Sons of The East and Kim Churchill.
With the release of ‘With You’, Cunningham is anticipating a great start to the summer, and the beginning of a brand new chapter of sounds as we head into the new year.

LISTEN TO ‘LIVE AT THE JAZZ CAFE, LONDON’ HERE
In addition to the live album’s audio release, on December 20 the band will also be releasing a Drax Project: Live at The Jazz Cafe London Concert Film.. With a run time of over 70 minutes, the film gives fans an intimate experience of being front row at a live Drax Project show. It also features songs and banter that aren’t on the audio only version.
“For years, we’ve had people come up to us after shows and say things to the effect of, “we love your recorded music, but that was another level”, and so we really wanted to pull together something that could transfer the front row energy at one of our sets. When we found out we were getting to play the legendary Jazz Cafe in London, we thought this would be as good a time as any to capture that vibe, and do so with our own hands. We’ve cut together what we think is the best of those two nights.
We’re so excited to put out this record and film to celebrate the intimate and special experience that was playing at The Jazz Cafe!” – Drax Project

CJ COMMERFORD & THE SUPERTONES ‘Naturally You’ (Album)
The Mornington Peninsula’s CJ Commerford & The Supertones’ bring the best elements of soul and blues music together creating a fresh sound that’s familiar to the seasoned ear with a beautiful modern inflection.
CJ Commerford & The Supertones present their second album – ‘Naturally You’ A collection of songs reflecting the search for answers to nurture one’s sense of self in the most authentic way. CJ has delivered a recipe of soul with a twinkle of blues the only way the Supertones’ know how, leaning into that old flavour inspired by late 60s-70s soul movement.
The album was recorded across some of Melbourne’s best studios with good friend and producer/engineer Simon Moro. From the vintage sounds of Allen-Eatons Studios in St Kilda down to Cheltenham’s hidden gem ‘The Avenue’, ‘Naturally You’ breathes fresh air into the Melbourne soul music scene.
“Paying homage to something as legendary as soul (genre) can tow a fine line. We’ve lent in and drawn from that enormous pool of what came before while trying to keep a fresh creative direction at the heart of the music-making. To copy and replicate is easy, to take inspiration and attempt to forge a new creative way forward is the real challenge.
Our first album Sugar was ready to go when we revealed the Supertones in 2021. It was a collection of relevant songs but from a previous project ‘The Chris Commerford Band’. Our vision and sound for the Supertones has finally come to life with Naturally You, encompassing the feel we were always striving for from day one. ” – CJ Commerford
The band is set to launch the album on home soil down south at the Mornington Pensinula’s Pig & Whistle ‘Shed’ Friday Nov 29th 8pm

JOSH ORANGE ‘Devil At The backdoor’ (Single)
The juices are flowing for Australian Folk Rockers, Josh Orange. The band recently released their fifth studio album “Birds for The Bayou”, and it has been described as …”Outstanding, a marvelous sonic journey” (Thoughts Words Actions-August 24) …”Tastefully dissonant keys join the ever-giving guitar for the sixth track on the album, “Devil at the Backdoor,” which has a distinctly vintage, yet original sound, as it houses the playfulness of a Modest Mouse song and The War on Drugs-style vocals while keeping their pop folk roots at the forefront of the sound.” (Music Mecca July 24). So last Saturday I found myself with a rare few hours of free time as the fam had flown to Melbourne to see a gigantic oversized baby penguin. I took the opportunity to scrawl down some verses and so many flowed out that my hand soon cramped….. After drinking some pickle juice like Josh Hazelwood to alleviate the pain, I bounced the song off my cricket banter WhatsApp group ‘The Sideways Movement’. The boys came through helping me to sharpen it and contributed some strong metaphors…. Long story short I decided to test it at a show on Sunday, recorded it on Monday and I’ll put it out for you all next Tuesday. It’s a cricket song so there’s no time to waste worrying about modern music releasing strategies…. the season is upon us! Instead I turn to the wisdom of the great counter-punching ‘Bin Lid’ of the middle order (Travis Head). Like he teaches I’m prepared to go out there and play my shots and leave nothing in the kit bag. The song will either get off to a flyer or I’ll be back in the sheds before I know it…. If this all means nothing to you I’m not sorry but perhaps you’ll still enjoy the plunk of the banjo…. cjstranger.com
MIGUEL RIOS ‘Joys of Sin’ (Single)
I met up with Miguel Rios, a very well known singer/songwriter from Victoria and Martin Sykes a well known musician from Queensland at a DAG Songwriter’s Retreat. We had such a great time working on this song and it received a standing ovation from fellow songwriters when the boys performed it that night.
Joys Of Sin was inspired by teenage memories of my Father advising my brothers to be aware, that beautiful women they may meet up with in some establishments, are more interested in your money than your company. And to definitely not drink anything you are are offered, as you could go to sleep and wake up the next morning, with no money and no memory of what happened to you. (Lola Brinton)
MORE ABOUT MIGUEL RIOS
‘Captivating’ is a frequent description of singer-songwriter Miguel Rios. His performances generate a stillness among listeners. Crafting of story, voice and intricate guitar creates a beguiling space, with the roots of Americana raised in the dirt downunder.
The seeds of Miguel’s work were sown early, in an organic setting. Growing up in a Far North Queensland alternative community, inspiration surrounded him – indoors and out. He had access to a home recording studio and vast library.
Among 25 kids running free on the hinterland property, the soundtrack of the adults’ record collections subliminally informed his future compositions. His debut solo album Slaughterhouse Road examined the benefits and challenges of those formative years.
His new release Running Blue was originally recorded in 2014 with renowned producer Craig Pilkington. From edgy alt-folk narratives to upbeat bluesy outings, it captures a unique soundscape.
Longtime collaborator, virtuoso fiddle player Ash Jones again joined Miguel in the studio. Some of the country’s finest musicians added more magic: Dave Foley on drums(David Bridie/Archie Roach), Steve Hadley on bass (Black Sorrows/Paul Kelly), Barb Waters harmonies, Bruce Haynes on piano and ‘Pilko’. Now, newly mixed and brilliantly re-imagined by Hugo Race (The Wreckery, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) the 11-song collection has the feel of a natural progression for Miguel. His vision has come full circle.
Sublime guitar work underscores clear, rich vocals that bring Leonard Cohen to mind. Also a filmmaker, Miguel colours his songs with resonant imagery. Stories are cloaked in evocative references to nature, humanity, and the mysteries of life. Gritty, intriguing, worldly and ethereal.
Since moving to bushland outside Melbourne, the effect of inherited memory may be at play in this creative evolution. He has begun to feel a strong cultural connection with his Native American and Mexican heritage. The backdrop of tall eucalypts, dappled light and feathered warblers provides a nest that nurtures both his young family and his art.
Miguel’s festival appearances have drawn audiences that build to capacity, from Nimbin Roots to Bendigo Blues. Fellow artists to sing his praises include Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson, Neil Murray and recent collaborator Kavisha Mazella.
“After seeing him sing…and listening to ‘Slaughterhouse Road’, Miguel is the most compelling and interesting singer-songwriter I have seen in a long time.” (Kavisha Mazella)
With an already long and celebrated career, Miguel Rios is poised to confirm his place among this country’s favourite troubadours.

MERMAID AVENUE ‘Boy in the Mirror’ (Single)
Mermaid Avenue unveils “Boy in the Mirror,” the captivating finale to their eagerly anticipated new album. As 2024 winds down, we’re proud to unveil the concluding track from ‘Jacarandas’, setting the stage for the album’s debut next year.
‘Boy in the Mirror’ is a soul-searching melody crafted by songwriter Peter Clarke, delving into the poignant journey from youth to adulthood, exploring the dreams we once held and the realities we’ve embraced.
Showcasing the extraordinary talents of fiddle virtuoso Mel Coles (known for her work with Australian Celtic Women, Limerick, and Scarlett Road), this track is a purely acoustic masterpiece. Mel’s hauntingly beautiful melodies weave through the composition, anchored by the profound depth of drummer Nate’s double bass bowing. Meanwhile, Mark transitions from bass to mandolin, as Pete and Mike complete the soundscape with their acoustic 6 and 12-string guitars.
This is a beautiful song to complete the album and sees us staying true to the course of serving the song.
As we mentioned in a previous email, the album itself has been delayed a little as we’ve decided to release it on vinyl and have a bunch of prep work to do (new artwork, remix etc.). Hopefully we’ll have it out early 2025.
As usual, there’s a high-quality wav of the song available for download from our website, at the following link. The zip also contains the lyrics and a couple of copies of the cover art. Download free copy here.
You can also download a free copy of the song via Bandcamp
As always, the track was expertly captured by our talented friend James See, the Head Engineer at Airlock Studios.
Our esteemed collaborator, Jason Millhouse from Recordworks, has once again lent his exceptional skills to mix and master the final masterpiece.
We deeply appreciate your unwavering support for fresh, original music. We trust that both you and your audience will find joy in this track.
Cheers Pete, Mike, Mark, Nate and Casey (and Mel!)
VIXENS OF FALL ‘Mugshot’ (Single)
Sibling trio Vixens of Fall, recently announced among the lineup for the massive 2025 CMC Rocks, offer a cautionary tale on the catchy new track. “Mugshot is the epitome of a cautionary tale to never, ever do a Vixen wrong!”
“So bye, bye, bye / Got away with it this time” they belt in the song’s playful chorus, whilst weaving in flirtations with murder in each verse. “We are usually lovers not fighters! Though there is something extremely cathartic about chanting adios (bye, bye, bye) to a lover that wronged you.” LISTEN HERE
Penned alongside co-writer Emily Hatton, the girls dreamt up the perfect crime. “After much deliberation the judge, jury and executioner came to an understanding that ‘allegedly’ a sharp icicle might just be the perfect solution to a problematic partner. Proof that melts away; what a perfect crime.”
Soaring sibling harmony nests in a whirlwind of jangly guitars, thanks to producer, Rod McCormack (Paul Kelly, The Wolfe Brothers). From its ethereal verses to the explosive chorus, the arrangement paints the perfect sonic backdrop for the song’s sassy tale of revenge.
With well over 1M streams the witchy trio have quickly become a standout act on the Australian country scene, with ABC Country praising them for “Plenty of whimsy and feminine energy”. Their mesmerizing live show recently dazzled audiences at the Gold Coast’s, Groundwater CMF and they brought down the house as the Gladstone CMF headline act.
As they continue to cast their musical spell, Vixens of Fall are proving that 2025 will be one of their most thrilling years yet. Performing a handful of QLD shows and making appearances at the renowned Tamworth Country Music Festival and the ever-popular CMC Rocks.
With ‘Mugshot’, the sibling trio boldly showcases their signature style – combining raw storytelling, a fierce sense of empowerment, and a healthy dose of playful mischief. Their enchanting blend of heartfelt lyrics and haunting harmonies is solidifying their reputation as one of the most captivating acts in Australian country music. Vixens of Fall are leaving a trail of “vixenated” hearts wherever they go.

THE WONDER YEARS set to return to Australia in 2025, with support from JOYCE MANOR & SUZI
Philadelphia 6-piece The Wonder Years have today announced their 2025 Australian tour – the band’s first time down under in over 7 years, with California punks Joyce Manor and Melbourne up-and-comer Suzi set to join them on all dates.
Forming in 2005, The Wonder Years have become a mainstay on the pop-punk/alternative scene over the last two decades, with classic albums such as ‘The Upsides’ (2010), ‘Suburbia I’ve Given You All And Now I’m Nothing’ (2011), ‘The Greatest Generation’ (2013) and ‘No Closer To Heaven’ establishing them as one of the premier pop punk bands throughout the 2010s.
After 7 full length records, two EPs and array of splits/compilations, the band have continued to grow their passionate fan-base over the years – with widespread acclaim their most recent full length LP ‘The Hum Goes On Forever’ (2022) – which received strong praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Kerrang! And Exclaim! upon it’s release.
The band have released a string of singles since their last full length LP, including ‘Year Of The Vulture’ earlier this year – a track that sees The Wonder years at their very best; with thrashy guitars, and frontman Dan Campbell’s signature unhinged vocals taking centre stage.
The Wonder Years – ‘Year Of The Vulture’ Music Video
The band will be bringing a career-spanning set to stages across the country, with dates in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong, Hobart, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
“We are absolutely ecstatic to be coming back to Australia early next year. It’s been far too long and we’re extra excited that these are venue shows where we can play full and long sets for y’all. Also, to somehow make all of this even more incredible, we get to have Joyce Manor, one of our all time favourite bands, and Suzi, who have quickly become one of our new favourites, on these shows with us. It’s truly a dream tour in dream places and we hope to see you there.” DAN CAMPBELL, THE WONDER YEARS
Joining The Wonder Years is beloved SoCal punk outfit Joyce Manor – returning to Australian shores for the first time since 2019.
Currently on a sold out tour of the US celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their fan-favourite record ‘Never Hungover Again’, Joyce Manor have been a cult-favourite of the alternative scene since the release of their debut album ‘Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired’ back in 2011. The band have been busy over the last few years – touring with the likes of Weezer, The Gaslight Anthem and PUP; performing at festivals such FYF Fest, Coachella, Riot Fest & The Farmer And The Owl; and even making an appearance on John Mulaney’s recent Netflix talk show ‘Everybody’s In LA’ earlier this year.
Completing the stacked lineup is Melbourne based indie-punk artist Suzi. With consistent airplay from local tastemakers triple J and support slots for the likes of Ceres, Tigers Jaw, Sly Whithers and Hobo Johnson, it’s no doubt Suzi’s destined for big things in Australia and beyond.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale from Monday the 25th of November at 5pm AEDT, with general on-sale tickets available from the 27th at 11am local time.
