Melbourne-based soul and blues singer-songwriting powerhouse Andrea Marr has just released her first full length soul album, Natural. On Natural Andrea cooks up an infectious brand of joyous beats, backed by her exciting 8 piece band, The Funky Hitmen. Evoking the spirit of James Brown and Aretha Franklin, Andrea and band lay down some authentic sounding Stax and Motown-style grooves, creating a party-inducing platter that begs to belong in your record collection.
No stranger to Melbourne’s rich, roots music community, in 2005 and 2012 Andrea took out the MBAS Blues Performer of the Year Award, representing Australia at the IBC in Memphis, Tennessee twice and reaching the semi-finals in 2013. Andrea has won many other awards and been a featured act at some of Australia’s biggest blues and jazz festivals.
