Released a decade ago, Harlequin Dream not only topped the ARIA charts in Australia, but also achieved platinum status and won the band fans right across the globe solidifying Boy & Bear’s status as one of Australia’s most beloved and emotive musical acts. The album, hailed for its soulful melodies and lyrical depth, remains a pivotal moment in the band’s discography, and these special shows promise to be a nostalgic journey for fans who have been on this musical adventure since its inception.

Australian Musician editor Greg Phillips caught up with Boy & Bear keyboard player Jon Hart to chat about preparation for the Harlequin Dream 10th Anniversary Tour

Boy & Bear’s journey to musical stardom began with the release of their double-platinum debut album, Moonfire, in 2011, which garnered five prestigious ARIA awards. The subsequent albums, Harlequin Dream (2013) and Limit of Love (2015), further cemented their place in the music scene, both reaching the #1 spot on the charts.

From 2019’s Suck On Light to the self-titled full-length release in 2023, Boy & Bear’s evolution and dedication to their craft have garnered them a devoted global fan base. With over 250 million streams and five consecutive top 10 albums, the band’s success is a testament to their authentic vision and unwavering love for their art.

Supporting all dates is Sarah Blasko. Blasko has reached rarefied status in Australia and around the world, from the now-classic debut The Overture & The Underscore (2004) through to the stunning Depth Of Field (2018); her six-album run of genre-defining indie-rock and art-pop is unparalleled. Over the course of her albums she has received countless award nominations and has secured 3 ARIA awards and triple j’s Album Of The Year for As Day Follows Night. Blasko writes songs that strike with rare immediacy, clarity and purpose. This will be Blasko’s first visit to New Zealand since 2012 and fans are encouraged to get to the shows early to witness her captivating set.

Boy & Bear’s live performances have become legendary, earning them a reputation as one of Australia’s most outstanding live acts. Their unique blend of indie-folk, coupled with soul-stirring vocals, creates an unparalleled experience for concertgoers.
