As expressed by the man himself in our video interview below, Dan Sultan has never felt beholden to any particular musical pigeon-hole. It’s this refusal to play anyone’s game bar his own which allows Dan to approach his craft with a freedom that results in music which comes only from his heart and soul. It’s also this attitude which sees Dan forego the swaggering guitar chords and traditional rock song structures featured on much of his last album Blackbird, in favour of the atmospheric, gospel-tinged musings of the new, Jan Skubiszewski-produced album Killer, leaving Dan’s voice and words to take centre stage.
