Acclaimed Australian musician and author Dave Graney is getting back together with the original members of The Coral Snakes for the 30th Anniversary tour of their 1993 hit record ‘Night of The Wolverine.’ And to celebrate further, a Night Of The Wolverine double vinyl album reissue is out now!

In a two-set performance, the original members of Dave Graney and The Coral Snakes will perform ‘Night of the Wolverine’ in full, plus classics and deep cuts from their mid 90’s “window of heat” on a 13-stop tour that takes in 6 states and territories.

The original members, Dave Graney on vocals, Clare Moore on drums, Rod Hayward on guitar, and Robin Casinader on violin and keyboards, recorded ‘Night Of The Wolverine’ in 1993. They will be joined on this tour by Stu Thomas on the bass.

To coincide with the tour, Night Of The Wolverine is now available for the first time, remastered for vinyl. The double album features inner gatefold full of a collage of polaroids, flyers and promotional ephemera of the period. Also includes a lyric insert which also has another collage of images on the reverse side. It’s a limited edition release so get in quick.

Australian Musician editor Greg Phillips sat down with Dave Graney and Clare Moore over a zoom call to discuss the creation of their 1993 album Night of the Wolverine and the upcoming tour.

Dave Graney & The Coral Snakes made their own way through the 90’s, nobody stood near them. They cut through with wit, flash and weirdness for four albums. They won through without being indie in nature or grunge by nature or demeanour. They had ambition, power and style. The band were standouts of festivals happening at the time and were regular performers on national TV, sold enough for a Soft n Sexy Gold Disc and were nominated for and won a couple of ARIA awards. Made guys!

‘Night of the Wolverine’ marked their hitherto unlikely move into the mainstream consciousness and is widely regarded as a classic of Australian alternative rock music.

“Night of the Wolverine finally saw Dave Graney gain mainstream acceptance. Part lounge, part country, and part straightforward pop, Graney produced a mini masterpiece with this album.

“A disarmingly likeable mixture of gently humorous lyrics backed by the impeccable musicianship of the Coral Snakes, this album deserved to be huge. And with a lead single like “You’re Just Too Hip, Baby,” it could hardly have failed to be a success”. Jonathan Lewis – All Music Guide

Dave Graney says he is stoked to be reforming The Coral Snakes for the tour.

“I love reconnecting with the songs as played by Clare, Rod and Robin. They play so wonderfully – so cleanly and powerfully and its also great just to spend time with them as people and friends. We went through a lot together and these shows are like a decade of moves, licks, grooves, changes and melodies all compressed into a couple of hours. Its powerful! For us and the audience! ”
