GRAHAM HOSKINS – CONCEPT MUSIC PERTH 40TH ANNIVERSARY INTERVIEW

Graham Hoskins with store regular Hank B Marvin

This year, Perth music retail store Concept Music celebrates 40 years of servicing the needs of WA musicians. We spoke to Concept Music owner Graham Hoskins about the history of the store, changes in music retail, and celebrating 40 years in the business.

About Concept Music:
Concept Music is an owner operated West Australian music store established 40 years ago by Graham Hoskins. Back in the late ’70’s Graham was a gigging trombone player before opening Concept Music in July, 1980 when he opened in their original location in Murray Street, West Perth. In 2001

Concept Music relocated to Wembley after experiencing increasing problems with access & parking. Now with “at your door-step parking” the move to Wembley has been a dream for their many regular customers.

The ambitious but simple Concept Commitment is:
“To provide absolutely the best service, prices and advice on musical instruments in Perth”.

And they do this adhering to strict code of unquestionably excellent customer service, sincere & professional advice on a full range of carefully selected stock lines.

Concept Music is now located at 244-246 Cambridge Street, Wembley (right on the corner of Harborne St) and is only a 5 minute taxi ride from the city centre or a 5 minute walk from the Subiaco train station. If you are driving, parking is a breeze.

Concept Music is certainly not just catering for the professional market but do to specialise in better quality brand name instruments by such major manufacturers as Fender, Marshall, Jackson, Yamaha, Maton, Martin and many more and are always on the lookout for new brands and new trends that will better service the needs of their customers.

The Concept Music store focus is also on providing a relaxed, interesting environment to shop in. There is an incredible array of vintage “wacky” guitars adorning the walls “Hard Rock Cafe” style so it an interesting shop to go to just for a visit even if you do not need anything! Unlike many music stores, Concept Music is also very “hands on” and the staff are more like friendly advisors rather than sales people who are just trying to talk you into buying something… whether you need it or not!

Another Concept Music promise is to give the same honest, professional advice to beginners as they are so well known for giving to the many experienced professional musicians and bands that are among their many regulars so even if you are just starting out you can be sure you will get the great advice. Concept Music is the preferred supplier of many local bands, schools and Colleges as well as the professional musicians that have been going there for years. And with a “best price Policy” in place, great prices also seem to be a given.
No matter what your musical requirements Concept Music should be on your list of shops to to talk to… and if they can’t help you, they’ll happily point you in the right direction.

As a regular customer was overheard to say once: “Concept Music… it’s more than just a music shop, it’s more like a place musicians go to hang out!”
