MUSICIANS IN ISOLATION: ANDY POWELL (WISHBONE ASH)

Wishbone Ash is the British classic rock band that achieved much success in the early to mid seventies with popular albums such as Argus, There’s The Rub and Live Dates. Founding members Andy Powell and Ted Turner were known as pioneers of harmony twin guitar lines, influencing bands such as Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper and Lou Reed’s guitarists Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner. Andy Powell was also one of the first rockers to champion the Gibson Flying V guitar.

Australian Musician’s Greg Phillips caught up with Andy Powell to discuss dual guitar lines, Flying V’s and the band’s new album Coat of Arms, in celebration of 50 years of Wishbone Ash.
