MUSICIANS IN ISOLATION: PAIGE COURT (WING DEFENCE)

Adelaide’s indie pop-punk queens Wing Defence have been winning praise Australia wide with their fun packed guitar-based tunes and energetic performances at BigSound, Groovin The Moo and Laneway Festivals, culminating in nominations for SA Music Awards. To further skyrocket the band’s already impressive reputation, today (July 3) Wing Defence release a fabulous new EP titled ‘Friends’, featuring the much-lauded single Relocate.

Australian Musician’s Greg Phillips spoke with Wing Defence guitarist Paige Court to chat about life in lockdown, the new EP and her gear.

The tracks on the Friends EP came together across a number of different sessions in different locations in Adelaide, with Wing Defence working with the likes of Mario Späte (Montaige, Jess Kent) and their own guitarist, Benny Tamblyn-Morrow and engineers Wade Keighran and Rick O’Neill (Silverchair, You Am I, Powderfinger). Musically, the EP dips in and out with its tone placement. There are moments of reflection (‘Relocate’), moments of bright hope (‘Bob’) and moments of rawness (‘Silence’) that cover their presented emotional spectrum with great care.
