RACHEL COSTANZO – KEYBOARDS

Rachel Costanzo MILES AWAY

RACHEL COSTANZO – KEYBOARDS

With almost three thousand subscribers to her YouTube channel, this talented and vocally mature Melbourne popstar is impressing many with her third single, Miles Away.  Co-written and produced by MSquared Productions (Michael Paynter & Michael Delorenzis), the song starts simply with piano and stripped back vocals setting the mood perfectly for this clever, reflective pop number.  Costanzo’s two previous singles, Starlight and Blindside are both polished, upbeat pop numbers that received spins on commercial radio around the country, but it is Miles Away that allows her powerful, raw and impressive vocals to create a truly beautiful and timeless pop song.  Ms Costanzo is not only a passionate vocalist but also a talented keyboard player and took a few minutes to participate in a short keyboard-based Q & A for Australian Musician.

 What was your first keyboard?
My first ever keyboard was a Yamaha, they are the most amazing brand! I still have it till this day.

What do you use on stage generally?
I usually have a guitarist accompany me on stage so it allows me to connect more with the audience.

Is it the same for recording?
When I record new singles/EP’s there is a lot more instruments that get put in by my producers. Sometimes it can be just the guitar or just piano but mostly a range of different instruments.

What’s your latest recording and when will you be back in the studio?
My latest recording is my new single MILES AWAY. I will be heading back into the studio sometime at the end of this year.

What gigs have you been playing lately?
I perform regularly at Spice Market 5pm-8pm and Soho 9pm to 12 every Friday night!

Most memorable gig?
My most memorable gig would have to have been at The Australian Teenage Expo in 2014! There was a crowd of about 3,000 kids in front of me and the atmosphere was incredible.

Worst stage nightmare?
My worst stage nightmare would be tripping when I walk up the stage!

Album that changed your life?
Basically all of The Script’s albums have changed my life. They are my heroes.

What gigs are coming up in the next few months?
My normal gigs at Spice Market and Soho are locked in, and a few others that are in the works but have not yet been locked in. If you follow me on Facebook you will be up to date with all my upcoming gigs !
