Perth-based singer songwriter Stella Donnelly’s career has been on a steady incline since the release of her debut single Mechanical Bull and the EP Thrush Metal which followed. She also made quite a mark on punters and the industry at her Big Sound showcases in Brisbane late last year and consequently took out a $25k Levi’s Music prize.
Additionally, Stella has somehow found time to record and perform with a couple of other bands, Bells Rapids and BOAT SHOW.
Stella impressed many last weekend at the much-respected Port Fairy Folk Festival and as soon as she was done, flew direct to Austin, Texas, where she’ll play 11 showcases at the SXSW festival. Upon her return to Australia, Stella heads straight out on tour with Alex The Astronaut.
To say that Stella is much in demand would be an understatement. That’s why Australian Musician’s Rob Walker so was pleased to be able to sit down with the amiable performer for a chat at the Port Fairy Folk Festival last weekend.
