TAL WILKENFELD INTERVIEW – JANUARY 2020

Ahead of her Bluesfest debut and Australian side shows, the multi-talented Tal Wilkenfeld chats to us about her career, gear, the new album Love Remains, being honoured at the She Rocks Awards, and how much this Australian tour and Bluesfest appearance will mean to her.

Tal Wilkenfeld is an Australian-born, LA-based bass player, singer, songwriter and guitarist who rose to fame after featuring in a 40 minute jam with The Allman Brothers in New York in 2006 at the age of twenty. Word spread quickly of Tal’s remarkable talent on the bass and before long she was performing alongside artists such as Jeff Beck, Prince, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger and Herbie Hancock. She also attracted an endorsement from respected bass manufacturer Roger Sadowsky. Her debut instrumental album Transformation featured acclaimed musicians Wayne Krantz and Keith Carlock as part of her backing band. Since then Tal has continued to collaborate with some of the world’s finest musicians and in March 2019 was featured on the cover of Bass Player magazine. Also in 2019 Tal released her debut vocal album Love Remains, further developing her multi-faceted gift.
