Tropical F@%K Storm’s new album Deep States (out August 20) is a junkyard of disparate sonic notions and obscure soundbytes that somehow come together and connect into wonderfully cohesive musical ideas, much like a box of metal paperclips that inexplicably link of their own volition and you’re left wondering, how the hell did that happen? Within the sometimes raw and coarse synth and distorted guitar sounds are moments of great beauty, while thematically it’s a perceptive, albeit strange commentary on the state of this crazy, messed up, locked down world.
