THE PIERCE BROTHERS: THE ‘KANKO’ INTERVIEW

Australian folk/roots pop outfit The Pierce Brothers return with a new single, ‘Kanko, their first release since 2018 due to their hectic lifestyle, touring the globe playing arenas supporting Tash Sultana, as well as massive AAA festivals in North America, Europe, and Australia. Having established themselves as an integral part of the folk, blues & roots community in Australia and abroad, the band of brothers have toured relentlessly – honing their craft and gaining fans across the globe as they go. The band’s music has grown with them over the years and has seen them release a top 15 ARIA debut album (Atlas Shoulders) and two Top 10 ARIA EPs (The Records Were Ours and Into The Dirt), receive over 10 million global streams, as well as over 1 million YouTube views.

Australian Musician’s Greg Phillips caught up with one half of the band, Jack Pierce to talk about the new single ‘Kanko’, touring and the band’s gear #matonguitars #gibsonguitars #fenderguitars

After an extended hiatus where they spent their time away from the touring circuit, travelling, writing and recording new music, Pierce Brothers have announced the release of their new single Kanko. A mellow acoustic, harmony based single with a driving beat, Kanko calls to a freedom found in the mountain air, reminiscing that free feeling will come again after this time of isolation. Co-written over a weekend with singer/songwriter and producer Garrett Kato (Ziggy Alberts) who has recently released another co-write with Julia Stone (Breath It In), mastered by Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering (The Tesky Brothers, The Cat Empire) Kanko has catchy hooks and an uplifting message. For fans of the chilled folk vibes or Angus and Julia Stone, Ziggy Alberts and Garrett Kato, Kanko is a smooth, beat driven track that calls out to easier times to come.
