THE SCRIBES – EPISODE 1: MICHAEL DWYER

Australian Musician introduces THE SCRIBES a new series in which we interview prominent Australian music writers and ask them about their musical tastes, their careers and we enquire about their views on the current state of music media. In Episode 1, we chat with Michael Dwyer.

MORE ABOUT MICHAEL DWYER
Acclaimed arts contributor, Michael Dwyer writes about music and the people who make it. From Rolling Stone (USA) and Melody Maker (UK) to The Age and the Guardian in his home country, Australia, he has been published by iconic pop culture mastheads over four decades. Michael is possibly the most eloquent music writer in Australia.

He’s also been employed as a street press editor, a Triple J and community radio broadcaster, a copywriting contractor, a lecturer in arts journalism, a film script writer and consultant, and a music commentator on ABC TV and radio.

As a musician he has toured internationally with his band The Thin White Ukes and he probably knows more about the life and work of David Bowie than is altogether healthy. The thousands of artists he has interviewed and/ or reviewed have taught him everything he knows. (Bio information thanks to Muckrack.com)
