THOMAS HUGH: THE MAKING OF ‘YOU THE CROWD’

Texas-bred, Melbourne-based singer, songwriter Thomas Hugh has just released his 4th album You The Crowd. If you’re looking for signposts, you could try  desert folk or alt country but essentially it’s an honest journey of man observing life, looking ahead but taking the time to recognise his past and acknowledge the affect it’s had on him. Helping to create Thomas’ rich, warm tapestry is Shannon Bourne, known around town as one of Australia’s most inventive guitarists but on this occasion, taking on production duties. Alongside Bourne, co-producer and engineer Ben Harwood completes the team of curious soundscapers. Musicians Garrett Costigan on pedal steel and Danny McKenna on drums and percussion add their own quality quirks to complete Hugh’s musical vision.

Australian Musician’s Greg Phillips sat down with Thomas, Shannon and Ben to discuss the making of You The Crowd.

Thomas Hugh launches the album on June 11 at the Grace Darling Hotel in Collingwood.
