WATCH: BUSBY MAROU – JEREMY MAROU INTERVIEW

Busby Marou and Kasey Chambers

Rockhampton based duo Busby Marou have finally kicked off the ‘Behind The Barricades Tour’ alongside their mate Kasey Chambers. After a few scheduling changes the 17 date tour along the east coast and South Australia has now begun. Just in time for the tour Tom Busby and Jeremy Marou have also released a fabulous new single, ‘Everything Is Beautiful’, the duo’s first original release in over 2 years. ‘Everything Is Beautiful’ was inspired by the pair spending some treasured downtime with their families and seeing the world through their children’s eyes. Busby reveals, “It’s just like, ‘Wow, everything was great, always, when we were kids. Why are we so negative? Is it social media? Is it all the stuff that’s going on? What is it?’ But there’s an uplifting piece of hope in the feeling of the music, and in the lyrics, suggesting that maybe we can all be happy again.” As Jeremy tells us in our zoom interview the morning after the first date of the tour, the new single is going down a treat live.

Australian Musician editor Greg Phillips spoke to Busby Marou’s Jeremy Marou about the ‘Behind The Barricades Tour’, their new single Everything Is Beautiful’, their guitars, and their upcoming album due for release in September.

Busby Marou have gained the reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working live bands best known for their distinctly Australian storytelling and gifted musicianship. The duo won their third APRA songwriting award last year for ‘Over Drinking Over You’ from their ARIA Top 5 album ‘The Great Divide’, their 3rd Top 5 release. The new single  ‘Everything Is Beautiful’ is a state of a brand new album, which they hope to release around September this year.
