AMI GIBSON AT AMAC 2014

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAustralian Musical Imports has gone through an incredible expansion over the last couple of years with the acquisition Musiclink’s wholesale brands and also the Allans & Billy Hydes retail stores. AMI has been around for 25 years and is best known as the Australian distributor of Gibson guitars and Orange amp products, both of which were represented on stand at AMAC this year.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAMI came loaded with amps this year. Of note was the Peavey 6505 Series metal amplifiers. Primed by up to six 12AX7 preamp tubes and driven by four 6L6GC power tubes, the 6505 delivers the tone and high gain power that heavy rock and metal players crave. Series includes 6505 212 combo, 6534 head and 6505 Slant 412 cabs.

Plus loud and proud on the AMI stand was the Orange Dual Dark 50 and 100 watt model amps, their new ultra-high gain amplifiers. AMI’s Lewis Browning chats about both the Dual Dark amp and the new 2014 Gibson Futura series Les Paul guitar in a video below.

Some shiny new Epiphone acoustic-electric guitars were truing some heads too. Coming out in September will be the new Pro-1 series, designed by for beginner guitarists to be easy to play. Epiphone and Gibson luthiers have taken into account everything they have learned to produce a guitar which won’t grind your fingers to the bone but will produce amazing clarity and tone.

Also on stand were new products from KRK, Cerwin Vega and AMI’s latest distribution partner, Cakewalk Software.
