CORT GOLD-EDGE ALL-SOLID ACOUSTIC GUITAR

The Cort Gold series is designed with a total focus on sound, but now with the introduction of the Gold-Edge, Cort is proud to say that the focus and dedication has expanded to push the limits on ergonomics and playability. Cort’s decades of technological advancements and guitar building knowledge sparked the development of the ‘triple bevel cut’ system, and with the right amount of angle and depth for each bevel cuts on three different strategic areas of the guitar body, acoustic guitar playing has never felt more comfortable. Together with selected master grade tonewoods, L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup system, and the top-of-the-line Gold standard build and sound quality, the Gold-Edge is the true golden result of tradition and innovation.

Aged to Vintage Top
A vintage instrument is the holy grail of acoustic guitar tone. The wood on the top cures and opens up more over time. This unleashes a tonal quality that is missing in new instruments – until now. Using a special process we call ATV (Aged To Vintage), we treat the solid sitka spruce top to give it that big and open tone of a decades-old, highly-sought-after acoustic. This torrefaction process delivers that amazing tone to you right out of the box.

Solid Sitka Spruce & Solid Flamed Myrtlewood CombinationFeaturing superior strength and dense grains along with the flexibility to resonate freely, the premium grade solid Sitka spruce top on the Gold Series is ideal for virtually any musical genre with a brilliant and clear high-end, warm and rich midrange, and a deep but tight low-end for a beautifully balanced sound.

The back and sides are of Master Grade solid Myrtlewood for a bright yet smooth and warm sound. Clear and powerful, it emphasizes the high-mids for excellent articulation. Myrtlewood’s figuring gets better and better with higher grades and this model features the highest grade possible.

Triple Bevel Cut
The triple bevel cut was designed to give maximum comfort to the players. Carefully calculated bevel cuts have been applied to three strategic areas (armrest, cutaway, and ribrest) of the guitar body making sure that the areas where the guitar touches the player’s body is as ergonomically shaped as possible. The cutaway bevel and body arm rest bevel existed previously on various Cort guitars, but the newly added waist bevel on the back of the guitar greatly assures players the comfort that’s never felt before. The bevels were meticulously laid out to not only provide comfort but to retain the acoustic properties of the body as the traditional cutaway compromises the tone.

Auditorium Cutaway Body Type
With dimensions of 117mm(4 5/8″) body depth, upper bout width at 292mm(11 1/2″) and lower bout width at 405mm(16″), the Auditorium body size is perfectly in between the large Dreadnought and the more intimate Grand Concert. This makes the Auditorium body type ideal for both strumming/flatpicking and fingerstyle playing and suits the versatile acoustic player who prefers to have one guitar to cover a variety of sounds and playing styles.

L.R. Baggs® Anthem
The L.R. Baggs® Anthem pickup/preamp system delivers the pure acoustic vibrations of the instrument to the amplifier and PA without any coloration. Unneeded feedback can also be easily and effectively controlled through minimalistic controls that do not interfere with the look of the instrument.

Walnut Reinforced Neck
The neck on the Gold has been reinforced for added rigidity and stability using two special inserts. This is constructed with two pieces of walnut installed to add stability while still retaining the natural properties of wood to further upgrade the Gold.

Hand-Rolled Fret Edge Treatment
The shaping and treatment of a guitar’s frets have a big impact on comfort and performance. Most guitar makers simply bevel the frets at each end to eliminate the sharp edges. Boutique acoustic builders, however, use a method to dress their frets to make them round, smooth, and ultra-comfortable to touch and play. This process is highly complex and time-consuming and requires the skilled workmanship of experienced craftsmen. On the Gold, the Cort offers this enhancement typically reserved for much higher priced instruments.

Sonically Enhanced UV Finish
UV finish is about 30% thinner than standard finishes and this allows the wood to “breathe” and vibrate more freely. This process requires a shorter drying time and reduces chemical interaction between the finish and the woods, which is ideal for your instrument’s longevity. Due to the much shorter drying time and the lack of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in the UV finish material, it is also an environmentally friendly process. This high-tech finish is strong enough to be resistant to scratches but light weight enough to improve the natural acoustic resonance of the body for a full, rich tone.

Ebony Fingerboard
There are many types of woods that are used for fingerboard but no other compares to the jet-black beauty and slick smoothness of Ebony.
