‘INSTRUMENTATION’
A unique exhibition of art works inspired by musical instruments by Nick Carpenter
10-19 April 2020
Wildwood Instruments Studio. 11 Phillips Road, Mount Franklin, VIC 3461
Melbourne Guitar Show regular, Nick Carpenter has been a luthier for over 30 years, and has recently turned his hand to creating beautiful works of art from old, defunct musical instruments. INSTRUMENTATION is a unique exhibition showcasing sculptures and mixed media, drawn from a range of stringed, wind and percussion instruments. While Nick believes that they have been exquisite art forms in their prime, he has given them a new lease of life so they live on beyond their intended use.
There will be over forty works on display, each telling their own story about these wonderful machines of music and our relationship with them. Included in the collection are “Trojan” and “PianoGuitar”, two award winning entries from the inaugural Piano Transformation Challenge in November 2019.
The exhibition will be held at the Wildwood Instruments workshop, the very space where these creations have come to life, and where he runs his Guitar Making Courses every month in Mount Franklin, near Daylesford, VIC.
Come visit INSTRUMENTATION from the Easter long weekend, where the exhibition will be open 10am to 5pm, 10-19 April 2020
If you are unable to make it, fear not, as it will also be available online at www.wildwoodinstruments.com.au from 10 April 2020.
