RACER AXE is a Melbourne tribute to the incredible Racer X – a band of awe inspiring technical ability and musicianship far beyond the youth of the band (Paul Gilbert formed Racer X in LA in 1985 when he was just 19!), and the band in it’s original incarnation only existed for a mere 3 years.
As a challenge, Simon Hosford (guitar) and James Ryan (guitar) had been playing Racer X’s music together for many years, and in 2014 finally decided that the most exciting thing they could do would be to experience this music with a band, and so that other people experience it also!
Completing the powerhouse line up with Rod Bustos (bass), Rob Brens(drums), and Chris Stark (vocals), they have between them recorded, toured and played with the most diverse of Australian and International artists, including: Virgil Donati, Mike Portnoy, Tommy Emmanuel, Joan Jett, Rogue Traders, Vanessa Amorosi, Kate Ceberano, Hadal Maw, King Parrot, Jon Stevens, Belinda Carlisle, Men At Work, Guy Sebastian, and supported US touring acts including Kiss, Tina Tuner, Chris Isaac and The Backstreet Boys… but right now, it’s only about one thing: fast guitars, pounding bass, loud drums, and searing vocals, the way it used to be!

Racer Axe will play their premiere stage performance at the Melbourne Guitar Show on Sunday 9th August at 1.30pm on the Aon Forecourt Stage.
