COREY LEGGE

Corey appears on Saturday August 3rd at 3.00pm on the Exclusively Acoustic Stage and will then join Nick Charles International Blues Day jam at 4.15pm on the Marsh Mezzanine Stage

Corey Legge plays heartfelt folk-rock and alt-country, drawing influence from growing up in the small country town of Bega on the beautiful Far South Coast of NSW. Now based in Wollongong, Corey’s original music is reminiscent of James Taylor and Bernard Fanning, with intricate fingerpicking and smooth vocal melodies that will get stuck in your head for days.

A captivating live performer, 26 year old Corey Legge has supported Australian rock royalty The Angels and Brian Cadd, while festival appearances at Cobargo Folk Festival (NSW) and Nukara Music Festival (WA) have left crowds buzzing. In 2018 Corey received a prestigious ‘Young Regional Artist Scholarship’ from CreateNSW (NSW government) and a music scholarship from the Yuin Folk Club. Corey subsequently flew to New Zealand to record his debut solo album ‘Driving out of Eden’ with award-winning producer Ben Edwards (Julia Jacklin, Marlon Williams).

Corey released his debut album ‘Driving out of Eden’ in February 2019, which sparked considerable interest from a number of high profile radio stations and artists worldwide. Corey’s debut single, also named ‘Driving out of Eden’, has been played numerous times on both Triple J and Double J national radio in Australia, and was named ‘Song of the Week’ in early March 2019 on ‘Blues and Roots Radio’ globally, achieving airplay in the UK, Ireland, Central Europe, Canada, USA, and Australia. The single was rated 4/5 stars by Triple J ‘Roots n All’ presenter Nkechi Anele on the day it was released, which is an impressive feat for a debut single. Perhaps most notably, a video of Corey Legge performing was shared by legendary US singer-songwriter James Taylor on his social media pages, with James also sharing the link to Corey’s debut music video ‘Driving out of Eden’. The official music video for ‘Driving out of Eden’ has reached over 12,000 views on Facebook, while the video of Corey performing alongside Rory Phillips has reached over 45,000 views.

Corey recently completed an 11-date Australian East Coast tour, and landed a European tour for 2020 off the back off positive international album reviews, including RootsTime in Belgium.

“A creative, highly skilled pro. He has all the talent, hunger and attitude to become one of Australia’s best.‘’ Lloyd Spiegel (Australian Blues Legend)

‘’This is just a good song. It has a somewhat 90s Aus rock nostalgic sound, I dig it.’’
Nkechi Anele, Triple J ‘Roots n All’ (4/5 Star Review on Triple J Unearthed)

Corey Legge is proudly endorsed by Cole Clark guitars (Melbourne, Australia), alongside Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, and Xavier Rudd.
