AGE MUSIC VICTORIA AWARDS 2017

The Age Music Victoria Awards have been run and won for another year and continue to spotlight the amazing talent which the southern state keeps generating and as Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan pointed out, “exporting to the world.” The event and in particular the genre awards, showcased the incredible diversity of music being created in Victoria.

Held at 170 Russell last Wednesday, the night was kept snappy and chatty by the amiable hosts Chris Gill (RRR) and Lyndelle Wilkinson (PBS). The winners and biggest grinners were AB Original, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and The Teskey Brothers, who were all multiple award receivers. Legendary producer/engineer Tony Cohen was honoured with a Hall of Fame induction and photographer Zo Damage was recognised with an outstanding achievement award for her 365 Day Live Music Photography project.

Once the talk was done, out came the musicians to play with some wonderful performances by Archie Roach, Josh Teskey, Mojo Juju, Michelle Nicole, Gretta Ray, Birdz, Jim Lawrie, Ella Thompson, Cable Ties (direct from their Corner Hotel award), Gold Class and Harvey Sutherland & Bermuda.
