Acclaimed Australian percussionist Alex Pertout has released a new single today titled AKHUYA, a taste of his new album ‘DRUMMING’, which is due out in later in the year.
The track AKHUYA features a percussion duet between Alex on congas and the great Egyptian percussionist HOSSAM RAMZY on tabla (you would be familiar with his work over the years Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, Loreena McKennitt). It’s also released in Honour of Hossam Ramzy who sadly passed away September 10, 2019.
The original composition showcases an exciting percussive interplay with celebrated Hossam Ramzy. The piece was recorded in Melbourne and London, mastered by Leon Zervos at Studios 301 in Sydney and features a cover photograph by Julian Alexander Pertout shot in Havana. The project is also produced by Alex Pertout.
