ALL INDIA RADIO’S ‘SPACE’ HAS LAUNCHED

Progressive music fans, particularly those into Pink Floyd need to investigate ‘Space’, the new album by Australian musician Martin Kennedy under his band moniker, All India Radio. For those unfamiliar with Kennedy’s work, you may recall several collaborations he has been involved in with The Church’s Steve Kilbey, who also makes a guest appearance on Space. All India Radio have released many atmospheric soundscapes in the past, however Space seems to be their most engaging work to date.

Dripping with atmospheric analogue synths and floaty vocals, the album takes its musical cues from David Lynch, Pink Floyd, Jean-Michel Jarre, Brian Eno, Stereolab and AIR. Of great interest to Pink Floyd fans will be the artwork used for the Space cover. The album artwork by veteran British artist David A Hardy was originally commissioned for Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of The Moon’ but missed out to the famous prism art. David A Hardy says, “It would give me pleasure to see that image on a record after all these years.”

‘Space’ features pedal steel guitar from Graham Lee of legendary Australian band The Triffids and The KLF, and contributions from long-time Kennedy collaborator, Steve Kilbey (The Church). All India Radio have released a string of records that drift through trip-hop, ambient and post-rock with David Lynch-ian and science fiction vibes.

Band founder Martin Kennedy’s love of science fiction has gained him over 80,000 followers across social media picking up notable followers such as Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips, musician Ryan Adams and film maker Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elisium).

‘Space’ is out now through MGM, on vinyl, CD and digital formats.
