AUSTRALIAN AMERICANA MUSIC HONOURS NIGHT ANNOUNCED

-1
Old Crow Medicine Show

The first annual AUSTRALIAN AMERICANA HONOURS NIGHT has today been announced, with the inaugural event set to take place at Melbourne’s stunning Thornbury Theatre on Monday 2nd October.

Presented by Michael Chugg, Nash Chambers and the international Americana Music Association, the Australian Americana Honours Night is a celebration of Americana music in Australia, and will showcase a sensational array of the best local and international artists that the exploding genre has to offer.

A jam-packed line-up boasting the likes of Old Crow Medicine Show and Valerie June, along with seasoned chart-toppers Busby Marou, Kasey Chambers, Shane Howard, Bernard Fanning, Catherine Britt, Kevin Welch and Henry Wagons, and joined by some exciting new talent Emily Barker, Ruby Boots and Jordie Lane & The Sleepers, will grace the Thornbury stage. With Triple R’s Denise Hylands and the Americana Music Association’s Jed Hilly set to host the proceedings, the Australian Americana Honours Night will deliver an unparalleled evening of music for Roots and Americana fans.

Adding some Stateside star-power to the evening’s proceedings, Tennessee natives Old Crow Medicine Show and Valerie June will take some time out from their Australian headline tour dates to hit the stage for a multi-song performance.

For the first time, the Americana Music Association will present two honours during the course of this special musical event. The inaugural Americana Vanguard Awards will be presented to Kasey Chambers for her deep commitment to roots music and for being an ambassador of the genre around the world; and to Brian “BT” Taranto, founder of the Out on the Weekend festival, who has been championing the Americana Community for more than a decade.

“For those of us who love Roots & Americana Music, this is a dream line-up to have at our inaugural event”, said Nash Chambers. “We’re mighty proud to be building awareness of Americana Music in Australia with the US Association and Tennessee Tourism. We also believe this is just the beginning of a genre that is exploding worldwide.”

“I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this celebration of Americana music in Australia”, said Michael Chugg. “We wanted to showcase a genre that is growing significantly in Australia, and an Honours Night seemed like the way to do it. We hope to continue this event for many years to come”.

“What a thrill to work with Michael (Chugg) and Nash (Chambers) to bring this extraordinary event to Melbourne,” said Jed Hilly, Executive Director of the Americana Music Association and Executive Producer of the Critically Acclaimed Americana Honors & Awards program in Nashville. Hilly added, “To see how this genre has grown in Australia over the past few years has been amazing, and I’m excited to take this to another level with such a great team.”
