AUSTRALIAN ROCK ROYALTY, VOCALIST JOHN SWAN AND PRODUCER MARK MOFFATT ARE ‘KILO BAND’

Music history is about to be made as “Kilo Band” unleashes their electrifying self-titled EP.  This dynamic collaboration features Glasgow-born, Australian rock legend John Swan and renowned Nashville based Australian producer Mark Moffatt. The 6-track blues rock project includes a nod to AC/DC, a song written by Kim Carnes, and performances by Steve Bowman of Counting Crows and the late great Bones Hillman of Midnight Oil.

John Swan, a true legend in his own right, is about as close to being “AC/DC family” as it gets. He played drums in Bon Scott’s early band, Fraternity, took over on vocals when Bon left, and even played drums with Malcolm and Angus Young the day they jammed with Bon to “audition” him. When his close friend Bon tragically passed away, John was one of the vocalists considered as a replacement. Although he didn’t secure the gig, he was invited to open for AC/DC on the Australian Back In Black tour.

During that historic tour, Malcolm Young quietly asked John to take Brian Johnson under his wing and help him feel at home on the band’s first tour on Bon’s turf. Out of deep respect for the AC/DC clan and to his great credit, John Swan has never publicly spoken about these close ties, nor has he attempted to capitalize on them.

Producer Mark Moffatt, renowned for his work on The Saints’ legendary “I’m Stranded,” is one of Australia’s most experienced and respected producers. Beyond his production prowess, Mark is a versatile musician, engineer, and writer. His mastery of the British blues guitar began in London’s famed Denmark Street during the early ’70s, the golden era of British rock. During this time, he had the unique opportunity to work with and learn firsthand from guitar greats of the day, including Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Mick Ralphs, and many others. Mark’s impressive career includes work with Yothu Yindi, Tim Finn, The Divinyls and Keith Urban. He produced Swanee’s Into the Night album, and he has remained a devoted fan of Swan’s since those early days.

Mark recently suggested he and Swan collaborate on a project, birthing the name “Kilo Band.” Their first electrifying track, “Parchman Farm,” inspired by Cactus, one of Angus Young’s favourite bands, ignited the AC/DC forums and social media sites worldwide. The lockdown provided the perfect opportunity to further develop their musical synergy, resulting in the creation of the current EP.

John Swan and Mark Moffatt are now proud to introduce “Kilo Band” and their EP, a sonic tribute to the power and influence of their heroes Led Zeppelin and  AC/DC. With John Swan’s remarkable history and Mark Moffatt’s extensive experience in the music industry, “Kilo Band” promises to be a compelling and exciting addition to the rock music landscape
