The Barnes clan is clicking into action this year with several recording and touring projects emanating from the rock n roll dynasty. Included in the 2014 studio activity are recordings by Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia Barnes, and Swanee.

It also features his children Mahalia, Jackie, Eliza Jane, Elly May and David Campbell. The album is released on August 29.

Meanwhile, Barnes’ daughter Mahalia has been recording an album with her own band, The Soul Mates. The album will contain 12 tracks and is being produced by the legendary Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Journey, Aerosmith) with Jean-Paul Fung engineering (Both worked on the Barnes album too). Mahalia’s band, The Soul Mates features some of Australia’s finest musicians including Mahalia’s husband Ben Rodgers, Lachlan Doley, Clayton Doley, Dave Hibbard and Franco Raggatt. Contributing vocals are Jade MacRae, Juanita Tippins and Darren Percival. It also features guest guitarist Joe Bonamassa. The album should be released in early 2015.

Jimmy Barnes’ brother John Swan, more commonly known as Swanee releases his new album ‘One Day At A Time’ this week too. It includes ten tracks co-written with producer Darren Mullan and features some incredible guitar licks from James Muller. The hero of the album however, is definitely Swanee’s powerful and soulful voice. It’s one of Swanee’s strongest albums to date and offers up many potential singles. A full interview with Swanee will be posted to Australian Musician next week.
