The first artist announcement was made today for Bluesfest 2015 and one of the world’s coolest bands The Black Keys were included as a headliner. Bluesfest is the multi award winning 5 Day Festival, held annually over the Easter Long weekend just north of Byron Bay. Event dates for next year’s festival are Thu 2nd to Mon 6th of April, 2015.
So far, joining The Black Keys at the 26th annual Bluesfest next year will be Zac Brown Band, Alabama Shakes, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Paul Kelly (presents Merri Soul Sessions with Dan Sultan, Kira Puru and The Bull Sisters), Xavier Rudd, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Beth Hart, Mariachi El Bronx, G.Love & Special Sauce, Band of Skulls, Pokey Lafarge, Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, Rebelution, Soja and Rockwiz Live.
“We never have anything less than great announcements at Bluesfest – I think this time around we are making one of our best so far,” said Festival Director Peter Noble. “I am thrilled to be announcing The Black Keys, the Zac Brown Band & the Alabama Shakes as the very first headliners, as well as a stellar group of artists that make up this first announcement. In 2015 it will be 9 years since The Black Keys have performed at Bluesfest and 6 years since Dan Auerbach performed solo, back then you could see them in your ’Local’ when they toured. Now … The Black Keys have become one of the major bands in music today, selling out arenas all over the world and headlining festivals.”
