Folk Alliance Australia is proud to host the annual gathering of the Australian Folk Scene on   October 9 – 11, at the Urban Camp in Melbourne. This weekend Conference brings together many of the key players in our scene…festivals, artists, arts workers, arts organisations and the music industry. We invite all members to come along and network, build your skills, explore opportunities and help us make Folk Music more successful.

PROGRAM  
The Conference Program offers an array of networking activities, stimulating Workshop sessions, specially targeted Panels and Forums and Presentations. Special events include an Opening Night Party, Showcase Concerts, Conference Dinner – all together making for a jam-packed schedule that you are sure to enjoy.

PRESENTERS 
Folk Alliance Australia has invited over 45 panellists and presenters from across the country to share their expertise and knowledge at the Conference.  Panellists will join us from a range of areas of the industry including, festivals, booking agents, artists, music media, venues, artist management, record labels, arts organisations and more.

We are pleased to announce attendance from the following organisations: National Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Creative Victoria, Hats Inc, Illawarra Folk Festival, Fairy Folk Festival, Music Victoria, Multicultural Arts Victoria…and more.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER 
Our Conference Keynote Speaker this year is Dr Neil Cameron
Neil Cameron has worked in theatre, festivals and cultural development for over thirty four years: twenty four in Australia and ten in Scotland, as well as projects overseas. In that time he has produced and directed many hundreds of art projects of all types, specialising in initiatives and methodologies of cultural development within different levels of society. He is well known for his commitment to cultural development and is one of Australia’s leading authorities on the role that festivals and celebrations can play in Australia’s future cultural development. Neil is particularly well known in our industry for his work with Woodford Folk Festival.

SHOWCASING MUSIC ACTS 
The Conference will also feature a selection of diverse Showcase Artists from across Australia including some of our young and emerging acts who are already making a name in the Australian Folk Scene. The full line up will be announced in the first week of September.

NETWORKING 
The Conference offers a unique opportunity to network with industry peers, to learn, be inspired, challenged, share knowledge and join in conversations. This Conference is for performers, organisers and anyone with an interest in Folk Music in Australia.
