COOL THINGS HAPPENING AT BRISBANE’S ZOO

After such a shitty couple of years, it’s so great to hear some positive news stories coming from some of our fave Australian music venues. Take Brisbane’s THE ZOO as a case in point. Rather than go backwards and dwell in the pandemic past, The Zoo is thrilled to announce that air conditioning has been installed at the iconic Brisbane venue. The long-awaited installation has been a hot topic (pun intended) over the years, and while some may long for the sauna style moshpit, the majority will welcome the sweet sweet icy relief from the newly installed units.

To celebrate The Zoo will throw a massive NYE party headlined by South Coast New South Wales garage-rockers, Pacific Avenue, joined by Melbourne based rock quintet LOSER, and trash-pop duo Sophisticated Dingo, along with a slew of incredible local acts including, Bad Neighbour, Blussh and Verum. Guest DJ sets from Being Jane Lane and free karaoke till the wee hours will make for an absolutely thrashing NYE party. Tickets on sale now via oztix here!

And if that aint enough of a major step forward, The Zoo also hosts Bargain Bin Records when they wheel out the bins again to present their first knees-up of 2022  on January 15. Yes, BIN NIGHT returns… bigger, better and trashier.

Cosmic Psychos join Bin Night at The Zoo

Band of the moment, The Chats and their pals have curated a masterful lineup featuring a swathe of Bargain Bin alumni and a whole bunch of good mates, including Australian pub-rock veterans the Cosmic Psychos, Six Foot Hick, Teenage Joans, Clamm, Coffin, Crocodylus, Dennis Cometti, Meatbeaters, The Unknowns, Aborted Tortoise, Being Jane Lane, Perve Endings, Headlice, Blussh, Ghoulies and Rick and the Sickos.

Held at The Zoo, a somewhat spiritual home for The Chats, where you can find Hardy propping up the bar most Wednesday nights, the chaotic event will be an all-day affair featuring some of the country’s greatest bands across two stages.

Tickets are on sale now via oztix here, don’t miss it!
