ELTON JOHN’S FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD TOUR 2ND & FINAL SHOWS ADDED

Following overwhelming demand in pre-sales second and final concerts have been added for Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle on Sunday 8 January, AAMI Park, Melbourne on Saturday 14 January, and Allianz Stadium, Sydney on Tuesday 17 January.

Tickets to the newly announced concerts plus tickets to the original dates will go on sale on Monday 1 August (times staggered, visit oznz.eltonjohn.com for details).

Returning to Aotearoa in January 2023 to perform two rescheduled Auckland shows as part of his multi-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, Chugg Entertainment, Frontier Touring and AEG Presents are thrilled to announce that Elton John – the most successful performing male solo artist of all time – has added five special ‘encore’ performances to his epic run, with new shows announced today for Newcastle, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Christchurch.

With an unparalleled career that redefined the cultural landscape and saw over 300 million albums sold, Elton John is (after two years of COVID interruptions) back on stage. Elton embarked on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in September 2018 – its milestone, multi-year itinerary comprising over 300 shows across five continents. Hailed by fans and critics worldwide, the Farewell… performances have left audiences spellbound, a truly daring and intimate celebration of an incredible 50-year career. Currently on the road in North America, Elton will perform his final concert on US soil at Los Angeles’ iconic Dodger Stadium on November 20.

With two rescheduled dates at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 January 2023, as a thank you to Aotearoa fans who’ve waited patiently for his return Elton today announces a final NZ show – Tuesday 24 January at Orangetheory Stadium, Christchurch. It’s a fond farewell to a nation he first stepped foot in five decades ago:

‘Every time I come here, I think how beautiful this place is. I want to thank you for all the love, the loyalty, and kindness and generosity every time I visit this beautiful, beautiful country.’ – Elton John (Dunedin, 2020)

With NZ plans already in place, it gave Elton the opportunity to add four additional encore Farewell…  concerts to an already sold-out Australian run!

‘Why should Australia, a country which has loyally supported and shared so many milestones in his career for five decades … not get another run of gigs if the Rocketman is up for it?’ – Daily Telegraph

Newcastle is in for a truly special event when Elton takes to the stage for his very first show ever in the city, performing there on Tuesday 10 January at McDonald Jones Stadium. He’ll then perform at Melbourne’s AAMI Park on Friday 13 January – Elton’s 56th concert in VIC. Sydney fans can catch him at Allianz Stadium on Wednesday 18 January, his 86th concert in NSW and 75th in the city. Finally, Elton will make his AU curtain call at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Saturday 21 January – his debut show at the venue and 36th QLD concert overall.

By the end of this tour, Elton will have played 233 concerts in Australia – the 3rd most for any country outside the UK & US.

Head to oznz.eltonjohn.com to sign up for pre-sale and ticket information. Tickets for all the unmissable concerts go on sale Monday 1 August (times staggered, see website for details). Frontier Members can also access the Frontier Pre-sale, which starts Thursday 28 July. Telstra Plus Members (AU) can also get exclusive access via the Telstra Plus Member pre-sale, which starts Tuesday 26 July via telstra.com/music.

To witness a musical icon live on stage is a rare privilege. Elton’s legendary catalogue – including beloved songs ‘Bennie and the Jets’, ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Tiny Dancer’, ‘Crocodile Rock’, ‘Philadelphia Freedom’ and many, many more – are showcased in a live musical masterpiece concert, one which also celebrates his collaboration with lyricist Bernie Taupin, their pairing one of the great song-writing partnerships of all time.

Elton’s love of Australia and New Zealand was on full display when the Farewell… tour first reached Australasia in November 2019, with a staggering 34 Australian and six New Zealand dates announced and over 705,000 tickets sold across a three-month period. Fans were treated to some of the most joyful and celebratory concerts Elton’s ever performed in the region, his hit laden set garnering rave reviews in both nations:

‘The superstar managed to distil a once-in-a-generation career into a fitting once-in-a-generation farewell concert’ – Sunday Herald Sun

‘Wearing a white and black tuxedo jacket and rose-coloured, sparkly-rimmed glasses which threw off bright bursts of glittering light from the Sydney stage on Saturday night, John exuded the timeless, over-the-top pop star meets piano man troubadour character who has commanded the world’s stages and global charts for 50 years.’ – The Daily Telegraph

Wrapping up this leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road run next January, this will be AU/NZ fans’ very last chance to catch this legendary performer live on stage. If you missed out last time, or if once wasn’t enough, come along and say goodbye to this beloved performer. Tickets will go fast – don’t miss out on this unforgettable showman!
