The annual 2 day Face The Music, contemporary music summit kicked off today at its new home, the beautiful State Library of Victoria. Outside in front of the library steps, JAWN, Stopgap, and Jaala played to large lunchtime crowds basking in the Melbourne sunshine. Inside keynote speakers Zola Jesus and Robert Forster held court. Speed meetings took place in the opulent Red Rotunda. Musician Paul Gildea moderated a session on syncs and licensing, there was a talk on music streaming, another on publicity and all manner of additional handy sessions. Face The Music is on again tomorrow from 10am at the State Library. Here’s our photo coverage of day 1. www.facethemusic.org.au
