This year, Gibson celebrates their 120th anniversary. The history of Gibson, simply put, is one of the great stories of American enterprise. From its humble beginnings more than a century ago, to its “golden age” in the ‘50s and ‘60s, to its phoenix-like return to glory in the late ‘80s, the company’s iconic reputation and inventive spirit have made it an American institution. Gibson now moves forward into 2014 with its eyes trained firmly on the future while also paying homage to its illustrious past.
To celebrate the anniversary, some of Australia’s finest guitarists will present a special two-day event at Lizotte’s in Sydney. Diesel, The Brewster Brothers, Brad Shepherd of Hoodoo Gurus, Eugene ‘Hideaway’ Bridges, Grammy-nominated acid jazz pioneer Albare, Nathan Cavaleri, Rai Thistlethwayte, Simon Meli and Caitlin Harnett will be joined by even more songwriters and guitarists yet to be announced.
Events include guitar clinics, a Gibson guitar display, panel discussions and an open jam session. The second night will be capped off with a performance from The Brewster Brothers (from The Angels, known in some countries as The Keystone Angels) followed by Diesel.
The Gibson 120th Anniversary event takes place on Saturday November 1 and Sunday November 2.
