GORDON KOANG X GINOLI REMIXED EP out on BANDCAMP FEE FREE DAY (From 5pm)

Gordon Koang x Ginoli REMIXED EP  out today!

All profits from Bandcamp sales from 5pm Friday until 5pm Saturday AEST will be split between supporting Gordon and donated to Healing Foundation and Black Rainbow.

This release features Mal Mi Goa (Ginoli Remix) alongside exclusive B-side tracks from Ginoli and special guests, Nicholas Allbrook (POND) and Mei Saraswati.

It’s a challenging time at the moment with so much happening in the world.

Firstly, we’re incredibly privileged to be able to work on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation and we would like to pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to other Indigenous Australians too. This music was written, recorded and released on lands where sovereignty was never ceded and it exists within broader society structures that prolong inequality.

Gordon Koang is from South Sudan and after waiting for five years as an asylum seeker, he now an Australian resident. Through his songs and in conversations he is always speaking of the importance of peace, love, and unity. One of his common sayings is, “With only one hand, you cannot clap!”  These sentiments seem relevant, now more than ever.

Gordon Koang hails from the Upper Nile region of what is now South Sudan. Accompanied by his cousin Paul Biel, Gordon performs a blend of traditional Neur rhythms and original compositions in English, Arabic, and his native language, Neur.

Gordon is currently seeking asylum in Melbourne, Australia, where he hopes to reunite with the rest of his family.

Gordon impressed many at the Music Victoria Awards last year with his joyous performance of his tune ‘Stand Up (Clap Your Hands)’

Although it feels a little strange to be releasing an EP at the moment, hopefully these songs and Gordon’s messages can encourage kindness and openness to those who hear them. Ginoli will be donating his share of all Bandcamp Day sales to Healing Foundation and to Black Rainbow.
