JACOB COLLIER (UK) BRINGS DJESSE WORLD TOUR TO AUSTRALIA & NZ

Frontier Touring and Chugg Entertainment are excited to bring five-time Grammy Award winning composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier and his DJESSE WORLD TOUR to Australia and New Zealand this December.

“I am stegosaurusally excited to be returning to one of the most spectacular parts of the world for some uproarious music-making. It’s been three years since I’ve visited, and I am delighted to be returning. Woooooooooooo!” – Jacob Collier

Jacob and his band will play: Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide on Thursday 1 December; Odeon Theatre in Hobart* on Saturday 3 December; Forum Melbourne on Sunday 4 December; Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday 7 December; The Tivoli in Brisbane on Saturday 10 December; and Powerstation in Auckland on Tuesday 13 December.

Frontier Members will be able to access pre-sale tickets from 1pm (local time) on Wednesday 3 August, before the general public on sale from 12noon (local time) on Friday 5 August via frontiertouring.com/jacobcollier.

These six Australian and New Zealand shows join the massive run of more than 67-dates on the global tour, with Collier currently performing sold out shows across the UK, Europe, Asia and the US, including some of his largest crowds and most legendary venues to date.

‘Crazy’ would probably be the most accurate term to describe Jacob Collier – the best kind of crazy, may we add… Collier himself was playing five, six, perhaps even seven instruments throughout the night. Some at the same time.’ – Pianist Magazine

The tour will see Jacob take the stage performing music from Djesse; a first of its kind four-volume, 50-song collection comprised of various classical-jazz-funk numbers that blend musical genres and defy all expectations. The project has been in the works for at least four years, with the first three records each earning critical acclaim, as well as multiple award wins and nominations. The final chapter, Djesse Vol. 4, remains shrouded in mystery with Collier keeping tight lipped on what fans can expect.

The first album in the series, Djesse Vol. 1 (2018), peaked at #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart and has been likened to the musical stylings of Russian composer Igor Stravinsky and American producer and rapper J Dilla. He released three tracks as singles, including ‘With the Love in My Heart’, ‘Ocean Wide, Canyon Deep’ and ‘All Night Long’, which won Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

The follow up record Djesse Vol. 2 (2019) includes singles ‘Make Me Cry’, a “Jacobean/dodic rendition” of The Beatles ‘Here Comes the Sun (feat. Dodie)’, ‘It Don’t Matter’ and ‘Moon River’, which won the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella. The track opens with a perfectly harmonised choir composed of 144 famous musicians, Collier’s past colleagues, professors, managers and even his immediate family, which makes for a deeply personal touch.

His most recent album Djesse Vol. 3 (2020) was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards, with the track ‘He Won’t Hold You (feat. Rapsody)’ earning the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocal. ‘All I Need with Mahalia & Ty Dolla $ign’ also received a nomination for Best R&B Performance, which he exemplified with a live performance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon (watch here!).

Other collaborations include ‘Never Gonna Be Alone (feat. Lizzy McAlpine & John Mayer’, ‘❤️ Coldplay X We Are KING X Jacob Collier’, ‘Time Alone With You ft. Daniel Caeser’, plus many more.

‘What would count as a highlight moment in an ordinary mortal’s concert seemed to arrive every minute or so in this two-hour marvel.’ – The Sydney Morning Herald

‘When Collier alternated between funky bass and expressive vocoder, it provided one of the night’s most musically entertaining moments… playing with both exceptional skill and accuracy much like a classical musician, there’s something in the physical freedom and fast switches that sets apart Collier from the rest.’ – Ambient Light Blog

In his first Australian and New Zealand shows since 2019, don’t miss this five-time Grammy Award winning extraordinaire, Jacob Collier this December! Tickets via frontiertouring.com/jacobcollier.
