Grammy Award winner Kurt Elling is among the world’s foremost jazz vocalists. He has won the DownBeat Critics Poll for fourteen consecutive years and was named “Male Singer of the Year” by the Jazz Journalists Association on eight occasions. Grammy nominated over a dozen times, Elling has also been honored with international jazz awards, including the prestigious Edison Jazz Oeuvreprijs (Lifetime Achievement Award). In late May, Elling returns to Australia for a series of concerts which you won’t want to miss.
Elling’s rich baritone spans four octaves and features both astonishing technical mastery and emotional depth. His repertoire includes original compositions and modern interpretations of standards, all of which are springboards for inspired improvisation, scatting, spoken word, and poetry.
Kurt Elling has been widely praised as one of the most exciting and popular jazz performers of our time. He has been hailed as the standout male vocalist of our time by The New York Times, whilst the Sydney Morning Herald described him as processing “a rare and remarkable virtuosity used in the cause of daring sonic adventures and intelligent, wide-ranging musical enterprises.” Kurt Elling breathes new life into old favorites for today’s audiences. He is undoubtedly the most influential jazz vocalist of our time.
Joining Kurt Elling on his 2018 tour is Australia’s queen of Jazz Emma Pask, best known for her collaboration with James Morrison and her performances on The Voice.
