Ahead of the commencement of their Get Born 20th Anniversary Tour, celebrated rock band Jet have announced a special warm-up show for Melbourne.
The band will play Get Born in its entirety on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 at THE NIGHT CAT in Melbourne. Tickets for this one-off, limited-capacity show will go on sale at 11am today – head to www.livenation.com.au. Special guest is Neon Goblin.
Jet will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album, Get Born throughout September. The tour commences on September 22 at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, followed by Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide on September 23, Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on September 29 and concluding at Enmore Theatre Sydney on September 30.
Tickets on sale from www.livenation.com.au.
These dates will showcase the incredible tracklist that won Jet fans right across the world – including such timeless tracks such as Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Look What You’ve Done, Rollover DJ and Get Me Outta Here. Songs that sound as invigorating today as they did 20 years ago.
Get Born scored six ARIA Awards and was certified 9 times platinum in Australia, making it one of the top 5 highest selling Australian rock albums of all time. The unparalleled success of Get Born at home was only one part of the story, as Jet topped both the US Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts and toured with the likes of the Rolling Stones, Oasis and Kings Of Leon, with eventual total worldwide sales in excess of 5 million albums.
After calling it a day in 2012, the band briefly reformed in 2017 to play with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band on their sold-out Australian tour of that year. Following an overwhelming response to those shows, the band dipped their toe back in the live waters with a triumphant appearance at the legendary Fuji Rock festival in Japan and sold out shows at Sydney and Melbourne Zoos. The reaction from fans was enough to suggest that demand for the band was stronger than ever.
Jet are: Nic Cester (vocals/guitar), Chris Cester (vocals/drums), Cam Muncey (vocals/guitar) and Mark Wilson (bass). Formed in Melbourne in the late 90’s, Jet released their first EP, the vinyl only Dirty Sweet in 2002. Get Born was released after their label deal with Elektra and was followed by the albums Shine On in 2006 and Shaka Rock in 2009. After riding a wave of international success, Jet disbanded in 2012 before re-forming in early 2017.
