One of rock’s nice guys Jim Root, guitarist with Slipknot and side project Stone Sour, has been fired from the latter. Rumours began to circulate when Root pulled out of a recent Stone Sour tour, citing Slipknot songwriting commitments as a reason.

In reply to an Instagram fan’s question about his part in the next set of Stone Sour dates, Root replied that he was no longer with the band and not happy about it. Once the Instagram news got out, Stone Sour then issued an official statement confirming the split.

“As some of you might have heard by now, Stone Sour and Jim Root have indeed parted ways. We were trying to wait until the completion of the new SK [Slipknot] album, but in light of recent events, we are going to confirm this information and move on. We feel it’s best for both bands and hope that is reflected in the days to come. We will give you more information when the time comes.'” read the statement.

Fellow Slipknot band member Corey Taylor also fronts Stone Sour, so it will be interesting to see how this issue plays out with Slipknot.
