MELBOURNE GUITAR SHOW 2019 FIRST ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT

The Australian Music Association is thrilled to announce the 2019 return of the Melbourne Guitar Show, set to rock Caulfield Racecourse on August 3 and 4 – and I know we say it every year but this year WILL be bigger than ever.

Proudly presented by Triple M and Australian Musician, the lineup boasts an impressive haul of both local and international artists. In addition to world class performances from the artists on this massive lineup, #MGS2019 will also present a massive gear expo that will feature a huge variety of electric and acoustic guitars, effects pedals, amps and more state-of-the-art guitar technology, both home-grown and from around the world. See, Try and Buy! It will continue to be Australia’s biggest guitar pop-up shop, and that’s not all. The Melbourne Guitar Show will host information seminars, demonstrations, and live performances from Australia’s most talented guitarists.

The first lineup announcement for #MGS2019 (and this is just a trickle of what’s to come) includes a great mix of guitar talent including:
Keith Merrow and Dennis Jones, both from the USA,  will join the usual eclectic and star-studded local list which this year features; Ash Grunwald, Sarah McLeod, Lloyd Spiegel, Stars; featuring Mick Pealing, Mal Eastick, Nick Charles, and Roger McLachlan, plus  James Norbert Ivanyi, Anna Scionti, Robyn Payne’s Engine Room, and that’s just a fraction of what’s to come. We’ll have another big announcement featuring the bulk of the artists real soon!

Visit the Melbourne Guitar Show site, which can be found at http://australianmusician.com.au/melbourne-guitar-show/ for the latest show additions.

Featured artists so far:

Ash Grunwald. Loved for his crowd frenzied shows and blistering guitar playing, Ash has critics and fans raving about his unique blend of roots, beats and a whole lotta groove for over a decade. Nominated for a swag of awards and winning a few, Ash proves why he is one of Australia’s most loved bluesmen. Ash appears at MGS2019 courtesy of Pratley Guitars.

Sarah McLeod, the singer and guitarist with the ARIA Award winning, platinum-selling rockers The Superjesus, has since gone on to establish an acclaimed solo career. Her latest album Rocky’s Diner, written and demoed in a secluded Brooklyn apartment in New York showcases her maturity as a songwriter, and her gift for melding grooves and soul within a rock framework. In 2018 Sarah was back fronting Superjesus as they celebrated the 20 year milestone of their landmark album Sumo. Now in 2019 Sarah McLeod brings her rock chops and boundless energy to the Melbourne Guitar Show stage.

Keith Merrow (Portland, Oregon) is an acclaimed studio guitar player, songwriter, producer, engineer, gear demonstrator, student and teacher. In 2013 Keith teamed up with friends Jeff Loomis, Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse), and Alex Rudinger and formed the band, Conquering Dystopia and released their self titled album. His popular YouTube channel has well over 18 million views. Keith appears at MGS2019 courtesy of Schecter guitars.

Dennis Jones (Los Angeles, California) Sizzling hot guitar solos, smooth and soulful vocals combine in a high-energy stage performance. That’s what you get and more from on of LA’s brightest blues guitar stars Dennis Jones. He writes songs that seamlessly blend the best of both worlds, presenting a unique and contemporary style of American rock and blues. Dennis Jones is a blues guitar star on the rise, catch him up close and personal at MGS2019 while you can!

Stars. Australia’s country rock legends, famed for hit singles such as Mighty Rock , Back Again and Look After Yourself, feature the fretted instrument talents of Mal Eastick, Nick Charles, and Roger McLachlan, along with legendary vocalist Mick Pealing and drummer Glyn Dowding.

Lloyd Spiegel Melbourne Guitar Show regular Lloyd Spiegel is a trailblazer at the forefront of modern blues and one of his country’s most recognised guitarists, named in Australian Guitar Magazine’s list of the top 50 Australian guitarists of all time. His 8th release, ‘Backroads’ is a hard edged, personal and brutally honest account of Spiegel’s life and follows up from his previous albums, all debuting in the top 10 of the Australian independent music charts and holding the #1 spot on the Australian Blues Chart for several months.

Drawing around 5000 guitar lovers and enthusiasts last year, the Melbourne Guitar Show is growing year on year and is gearing up for the biggest event yet. Champion of the Australian music products industry, the Australian Music Association (AMA) will be teaming up with australianmusician.com.au and sponsors Triple M & 3PBS, plus media partners Beat/Mixdown and Noise 11, to present this year’s guitar-centric weekend. At last year’s show, punters not only enjoyed scheduled performances and demos from the awesome lineup of artists, but also witnessed surprise on-stand appearances from some of Australia’s finest musicians. Seen at MGS 2018 on stand or just checking out the show’s vibe were: Harts, Darren Middleton, Bec Sandridge, Dan Sultan and many more. Both the organisers and the exhibitors are constantly wrangling acts right up until the very last minute – and who will be joining the all-star jam this year? Come on down and find out!

Thrilled to present #MGS2019 once again, AMA executive officer and MGS organiser, Rob Walker says, “It’s exciting to see the show develop each year and add value to the live music industry. We are proud to present such a broad range and quality of guitars, amps and gear from the big brands to local artisans. And each year we get to put together a program of live music featuring the considerable talents of our guitar community. It’s a great weekend for anyone into music, particularly guitars.”

“And not only will the #MGS2019 provide a hands-on chance to see and play such a broad range of gear, there’ll be bargains a plenty”, he added. “We like to call it Australia’s biggest pop up guitar store!”

The Melbourne Guitar Show will be held at Caulfield Racecourse on August 3 and 4.
