By Friday, NAMM was well and truly in full swing with most of the major product releases announced and meetings happening in rooms behind booths, in hotel rooms and wherever delegates could find some space to chat. The day began with an interesting breakfast session entitled ‘Epic Marketing: Win More Customers by Marketing Less’, a concept a few enthusiastic marketers found contrary to the way they’d been operating in the past.
By the day’s end, delegates were ready to let off a bit of steam at the mass drum circle, an event which went down well in Australia at AMAC last year too.
The gig of the night had to be George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, outside at the street main stage. Somehow the sum of the parts of the huge shambolic group of musicians and singers always ends in the world’s best funk party.

While Clinton rocked the masses outside, inside things were a little more formal (in a casual kinda way!) with the presentation of theĀ 3rd annual She Rocks Awards in the Pacific Ballroom at the Hilton.
The brainchild of publicist/musician Laura B. Whitmore, the She Rocks Awards is a fantastic event giving kudos to not only the world’s finest female musicians but also industry leaders and achievers in the field of music products and administration. This year the event was hosted by our own guitar goddess Orianthi and featured a stunning performance by honourees The Bangles, backed at one point by Orinathi and Richie Sambora.

Of course, famous faces were everywhere to be seen in the trade hall aisles and hotel lobbies etc.
