ROLLING BLACKOUTS C.F. NEW ALBUM ENDLESS ROOMS OUT NOW! + NATIONAL ALBUM TOUR ANNOUNCED

Ivy League Records is incredibly proud to release Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever’s thrilling new album, Endless Rooms! Following 2020’s #4 ARIA-charting Sideways To New Italy & their internationally-acclaimed debut Hope Downs (2018), Endless Rooms is a testament to the collaborative spirit and live power of the Melbourne band, and is them “doing what we do best: chasing down songs in a room together.” Endless Rooms is the band’s most cinematic, stylistically diverse and ambitious album yet, as presented in a string of previously-released singles: the guitar-driven earworm ‘My Echo’, the potent & driving ‘Tidal River’, the propulsive first taste of the LP ‘The Way It Shatters’ & this week’s release, ‘Dive Deep’, which revels in a slow-burn rhythm and an enormous lead guitar hook.

To coincide with the album release, Rolling Blackouts C.F. announce their Endless Rooms album tour for October, which will see the band perform in major cities and regional venues across the country, upon return home from a massive 50+ date US/UK/EU tour. Frontier ticket presale will be available from Monday May 9 through to Tues May 10 (2pm local time), followed by general public on sale, Wednesday May 11 at 2pm AEST.

WATCH: Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever – ‘Dive Deep’

“This is a simple song of devotion,” says Tom Russo of ‘Dive Deep’. “It’s about how if you are going to give in to love, you need to go all in, and accept that you have no control in the matter. It began as a home recording during lockdown. I recorded the guide vocals and guitars with my new baby strapped to my chest. When we could finally get together to play it, Joe White came up with the perfect lead guitar tone. He was given full license to wail, and did so. I remember sitting by the fire, looking up at the stars, and hearing the guitar echoing all around the valley.”

After initial ideas were traded online during long spells spent separated by lockdowns, the band’s third album was truly born during small windows of freedom in which the band would decamp to a mud-brick house in the bush around 2hrs north of Melbourne on Taungurung and Yorta Yorta country, built by the extended Russo family in the 1970s.

The result is Endless Rooms, a generously sprawling wave of energetic and sophisticated guitar-pop, rich with undulating melodic surprise.  As the first body of work the band have self-produced, alongside longtime collaborator Matt Duffy, the collection is a product of this freedom, succinctly highlighting the seamless alignment in the band’s creative vision, and the execution of this vision through production.

Amplifying their astute musicianship, and mixed by Scott Horscroft (DMA’S, Silverchair, The Presets), the journey that is Endless Rooms honours cohesion, being as unified as it is exploratory and expressive. And exploratory it is, from politics, to a whittled down, pandemic ridden Melbourne, deep love and forever honouring Australia’s evocative landscape, Rolling Blackouts C.F. shy from no lyrical territory, proving they are as unabashed as songwriters, as they are powerful performers. Indeed, Endless Rooms pulls back the curtain on what Rolling Blackouts C.F. can achieve, revealing a wider screen, deeper narrative currents, more confident shades, and an excitement at letting their tumbling brand of ragged, nervy pop wander and breathe.

Endless Rooms is out now on all digital services, and will be released on physical formats (CD, black vinyl & Sub Pop’s limited edition Loser opaque yellow vinyl) on Friday 3 June 2022 through Ivy League Records in Australia and New Zealand and Sub Pop for the rest of the world.
