We get so many pitches from artists, labels and management and just don’t have the resources to do major features on them all. With Snippetz, we can get across the main points of the artist’s news and give them some kind of exposure on a fairly regular basis. We’ll try to focus on Australian artists and labels but there will be some occasional international news items too. We hope that this new section helps to get your music out there!

LUCIAN RICE – ‘Can’t You See’ (Single)
Introducing Lucian Rice, the Aotearoa/New Zealand born and based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Following the release of his debut single ‘Spineback’, Lucian continues to showcase his ability to blend nu-gaze, dream pop, and alternative rock into a mesmerising sonic experience with new single ‘Can’t You See’, out now.
With a sound that combines the best of contemporary indie rock with the timeless catchiness of pop music, Lucian invites listeners into a dreamlike journey through his sonic landscape. Speaking on the meaning behind the song, he explains, “I had just started seeing someone new after a lengthy relationship. The idea of something casual felt super empty and I wanted this person to give me something more than just the night. Naively, I wanted them to be as big in my life as the other person was – I didn’t know any other way.”

RAAVE TAPES – ‘I Just Wanna Be Alone’ (Single)
RAAVE TAPES have today announced their forthcoming debut LP, set for release on the 24th of May. The announcement coincides with the release of the albums 3rd single ‘I Just Wanna Be Alone’; a stunning alt-pop track that demonstrates the full range of the bands ever-changing sonic palette. Following the huge hype from the album’s 2nd single ‘k hi’ released earlier this year, ‘I Just Wanna Be Alone’ shows a completely different side to RAAVE TAPES – opting for a little more subtlety in its production, letting Lindsay’s vocals really shine through. The track centres around the idea of new-found individualism, finding solitary happiness that doesn’t always rely on a connection to others.
“There’s not much that the title doesn’t address with ‘I Just Want to be Alone’. It’s a song born out of the cycle of mid-20s dating, figuring out how to spend time by yourself and most of all, being comfortable in your own skin. There is something quite special about a pop anthem you can sing in the mirror to reaffirm all of the self improvement beliefs, from ‘You never wrote back/I didn’t mind at all’ to ‘I don’t want to be something that I’m not’.” – LINDSAY O’CONNELL, RAAVE TAPES

THIS SPACE IS OURS ‘House of Flames’ (Single)
Naarm/Melbourne 5-piece This Space Is Ours have released the last of 5 singles recorded with producer Beau Mckee (Between You And Me, Closure In Moscow, Earth Caller); a fiery, hard-hitting single titled ‘House Of Flames’.
‘House Of Flames’ could not be a sharper left turn from its predecessor, the 2023 emotive pop-punk single ‘All The Things I’ve Been Avoiding’. Whilst that track displayed the bands extensive range, ‘House Of Flames’ is the band at full throttle; delivering riffs from every direction, a driving rhythm section and a commanding performance from frontwoman Gemma Dusmore. The track’s outro stands out especially here- following a tension-building bridge the track ignites with thunderous double-kick and lightning fast guitars, showcasing the young Melbourne band’s immense musical talent.

SWAPMEET (FKA Sour Sob) announce debut EP; share ‘Collision’ (Single)
Kaurna land/Adelaide dream-pop four-piece Swapmeet (FKA Sour Sob) announce the imminent release of their debut EP Oxalis, out Friday, April 12, independently. To coincide with the news, the group have shared a tender new cut, ‘Collision’.
Drawing on themes of trauma and attachment, ‘Collision’ is the follow up to EP lead single ‘Ceiling Fan’ and ‘New Wood, Old Ashes’, which drew praise from triple j, 3RRR, The Note and CityMag among others, plus debuted on AMRAP Metro Radio Charts.
Swapmeet share of their new track, “[‘Collision’] tells the narrative of a car crash, exploring feelings of fear and detachment caused by traumatic experiences. The song was originally created for a friend’s birthday cassette, however, we latched onto the idea and completely changed the direction it was heading. The track was introduced into our live set at the beginning of 2023 and has stuck with us since. We took a bit more of an experimental route with the production, incorporating elements from music we all gravitate towards individually, combining them into one.”

MICHAEL CARPENTER and ANGUS GILL – All In (Or Not At All) (Single out April 4)
All In (Or Not At All) ft. Angus Gill is the brand new single from Michael Carpenter, available for pre-save now and out on April 4, through Big Radio Records/RTC Records. https://ffm.to/allinornotatall
An unexpected collaboration between two ubiquitous Australian country producer/singer-songwriters, Michael Carpenter and Angus Gill, All In (Or Not At All), originated at a long overdue co-writing session in late February between the two old friends. The catchy track came easily, and though they’d intended to pitch the song to other artists, they decided to just record and release it themselves.
All In (Or Not At All) is a song of defiance from two men at very different points in their careers. Carpenter has been producing records for over 30 years and releasing records under his own steam for 25 years. Gill is in his mid 20’s, but has been releasing records for over 10 years. Gill, a Golden Guitar winner, and Carpenter, a 9-time nominee, bonded over their lifelong commitment to their creativity.
Carpenter says, “The conversation during our writing session kept on circling back to the point that both of our lives were defined by music. And that there’s no ‘consolation prize’. We’re both indeed ‘all in’.”
Carpenter continues to be busy on all his creative pursuits, including lots of producing sessions and gigs, while Gill recently relocated to Nashville. https://ffm.to/allinornotatall
THE DREGGS – Peeps With The Goods (Single)
Disarming, charming and sonically warm as a summer breeze, the new single Peeps With The Goods from beloved indie-folk The Dreggs draws on the pair’s trademark vivacity, while also unfurling a fresh new direction as the band sit poised on the release of their debut album Caught In A Reverie, due out on Friday April 26. With The Dreggs set to celebrate their first-ever full length via a national Australian tour this June and July, fans can also catch some extra Dreggs infamous live magic rounding out the Aussie run with an appearance on the main stage on Saturday July 20 as part of the stacked lineup for Splendour In The Grass.
An effervescent addition to their ever-expanding repertoire, Peeps With The Goods finds The Dreggs, aka Paddy Macrae and Zane Harris, exploring new terrain, injecting elements of airy soul and gospel alongside a treatise on life as an independent artist in the modern music industry. With inspiration from fellow Aussie indie legend Matt Corby, Peeps With The Goods was fittingly conjured with the man himself, as The Dreggs’ own Paddy Macrae explains, “Matt Corby was a huge influence for this track. We were given the opportunity to write and record with Corby and this song is the result of that collaboration. The song is about the push and pull a lot of independent artists have to confront within the music industry. It’s an anthem to those who have experienced equal parts joy and frustration with their career, but also a reminder that persevering is the only way to push through and find that ‘happy place’, whatever that might mean for them.”
Peeps With The Goods is out today, Friday March 22. Caught In A Reverie is due out Friday April 26.

JET CITY SPORTS CLUB ‘Every Single Dream’ (EP)
Eora/Sydney’s Jet City Sports Club have dropped their second EP ‘Every Single Dream’; 5 tracks of dreamy, indie-pop perfection, including the previously unreleased ‘Chamomile’.
Featuring singles ‘My Everything’, ‘Drug Store’, ‘Green thumb’, and their most recent release ‘Sunny Morning’, ‘Every Single Dream’ is a snapshot of a band growing into their own. Armed with some seriously slick production, courtesy of producer extraordinaire Fletcher Matthews (RAAVE TAPES, Stumps, The Buoys), ‘Every Single Dream’ has absolutely no wasted space; each track as strong as the next, crafted to deliver the band’s shimmery, sun-kissed sound perfectly.
Thematically, the EP reflects on all the memories and opportunities the band have shared since their inception, looking through a lens of infectious positivity and genuine gratitude. “The new EP is a collection of songs that are extensions of us, and the experiences being in this band has created. We named it Every Single Dream as it’s a bit ambiguous, and people can attach their meaning to it when they’ve heard the songs and made their own relationship with the EP. It also has a sort of second meaning where we see this band as a vehicle to accomplish every single one of our dreams.”

JOE GODDARD – “New World (Flow)” featuring Fiorious (Single)
Having returned last month with new single “New World (Flow)” featuring Fiorious, Joe Goddard has now shared a treasure of remixes of the track. ABSOLUTE. takes you higher with his Transcendental Flow remix, whilst Roman Flugel offers up two versions, a beautiful, joyful rework and his dance remix which hits that bit harder. Finally, Ray Mang takes Goddard’s original into three new directions totalling nearly 30 minutes. The OG mix is a classic old school chugger whilst the Extended mix revs up the gospel nod in “New World (Flow)”.

Stream ‘New World (Flow)’ featuring Fiorious here
Talking about “New World (Flow)”, Goddard says: “When I wrote the chords for this song, I was aiming for something with the power of a hymn. Without discussing this concept, Fiorious added words that have a kind of atheistic spiritual quality that I always love in house music.”
Fiorious adds: “I connected to the track instantly and loved how it moved from an interior moment in the verse to an explosive climax in the chorus. The lyrics took their cue from that feeling, the idea of getting out of your own way and surrendering, and so it became this meditation on fearlessness. From there, I started arranging my vocals as a huge choir of me, and it all came together very quickly.”
In his solo records as well as his work in Hot Chip, The 2 Bears, and HARD FEELINGS, Goddard is driven by a hunger for experimentation, an innate understanding of dance, pop, and indie music’s inner workings, as well as a heartfelt love of collaboration.

BLUSHER- ‘Accelerator’ (Single)
Melbourne-based pop-trio Blusher share their new single, ‘Accelerator’, a high speed, hard hitting d-floor anthem, out now everywhere via Atlantic Records/Warner Music Australia. The new single follow’s ‘Rave Angel’ which dropped in January, being the first taste of new music for the trio since the release of their debut EP Should We Go Dance? in mid 2023. Blusher are currently on a twenty-three date run with Icelandic artist, Dadi Freyr across the US and are soon to announce more international dates, including Latitude Festival in the UK.
Speaking on the creation of the new single, Blusher share, ‘’Accelerator’ feels like Blusher with the saturation turned up to 200%. Accelerator is a big budget action movie, it’s a late-night highway chase, it’s James Bond in drag. It was our first day working with producer Donny Bravo. We knew of his work on the Disclosure album (which we’ve played in our DJ sets a lot) and were super excited to work with him. We’d been out late the night before to see a Tove Lo + Associanu DJ set, so we started the day with a lot of coffee, feeling really inspired to make something hard-hitting and dancey. We were so caffeinated, buzzing with intense creative energy.

JUNO – ‘I’m The Man’ (Single)
Meanjin/Brisbane-based alt-pop group JUNO have unveiled their radiant single ‘i’m the man’ – produced, mixed and mastered by band member Sam Woods and co-produced by longtime collaborator Taka Perry (RUEL, Sycco, Thomas Headon, BOY SODA).
‘i’m the man’ dazzles with a vivacious retro charm, where a spirited horn section pirouettes gracefully through Kahlia Ferguson’s velvety melody, casting a shimmering spell amidst a vibrant kaleidoscope of rich hues. The arrangement glistens, letting animated echoes of soulful melodies linger, creating a symphony of R&B swagger that aglows with an effervescent allure.
Kahlia talks about the inspirations behind ‘i’m the man’:
“During my high school years, I remember boys who displayed unwavering confidence on the sports field were admired, yet it was almost taboo for a girl to acknowledge her own intelligence, beauty, talent or lovability. I grew up watching female stars get tossed aside once they hit 30 after reinventing themselves a thousand time over, while ‘silver foxes’ were revered. I wrote ‘i’m the man’ for my younger self, who would never have imagined being capable of standing on a stage and exuding the sort of confidence required to sing a song like it. The song tackles themes of self-doubt stemming from societal expectations, particularly those I’ve noticed are imposed on women. Our song seeks to challenge traditional gender roles by asserting that even as a woman, one can exude the confidence and swagger typically attributed to being ‘the man’.”
In the live scene, JUNO will be joining English pop star girli alongside her Australian East Coast tour in April and will also be supporting Drax Project at The Zoo. This continues on from a run of shows supporting the likes of Peking Duk, Pacific Avenue, Selfish Sons, CODY JON, Adraian Dzvuke, Safety Club and Greatest Hits. They have also played Spaced Out Festival, sharing the stage with Royel Otis, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, DICE and Super Fun Day, alongside FIDLAR (USA), Pale Waves (UK) and Ruby Fields.

GEOFF GATES -‘Norwegian Dancer’ (Single)
GEOFF GATES is a Sydney-based singer songwriter and author. He released his first album of original songs in 2021 (‘Melancholy Party’), with ‘Mining Town’ and ‘Connecting with You’ introducing Gates’ storytelling style.Geoff began recording a new album at the Shelter Studios in the Blue Mountains in the summer of 2022-2023. Twelve new songs blend several genres, including folk, rock, roots, and alt country.
‘Norwegian Dancer’ is the latest single from Sydney-based singer songwriter GEOFF GATES. The song centres on a moment in time where the storyteller is dazzled by the image of a dancer in the evening light. He speaks with her in the morning before she flies to Oslo. Years later he imagines a different evening where they ‘walk through the dunes/And swim in the night’ – yet he recognises this as ‘just another passing moment’ (even in memory).
The song is built around a rhythmic acoustic guitar, with a tight beat in the verse and a strong, melodic chorus. A wistful bridge leads onto a multitracked guitar break and a final chorus – until the last notes of the acoustic guitar remind us of the songs folk base and bittersweet memories, fading.
The song features Geoff Gates (vocals and guitars), Gareth Richards (drums) and Robbie Renu (bass). ‘Norwegian Dancer’ is the latest single from the soon to be released ‘Willow & Rock’ album. https://gyro.to/NorwegianDancer
