CHASE ATLANTIC  ‘Lost In Heaven’ (Album/Tour)

Describing Chase Atlantic’s sound as of their fourth full-length, LOST IN HEAVEN, is simultaneously simple and impossible. The Australian-born, Los Angeles-based trio is immediately identifiable, yet incredibly difficult to put a title or genre on either their sound or the audience that adores them. They fit in just as well playing massive pop festivals as they do touring with rock bands. Armed with an array of hits across a multitude of genres, Chase Atlantic has picked up one of the widest-ranging fan bases in all of music, earning them more than 8.1 billion streams and 855 million YouTube views.

Globally acclaimed genre-bending band CHASE ATLANTIC have unleashed their fourth studio album, LOST IN HEAVEN, via Fearless Records. Known for their unpredictable fusion of pop, rock, and R&B, the band continues to push creative boundaries while staying true to the core elements that have captivated their global fanbase.

The album’s focus track “YOU” delves into the complexities of love, wrapped in sultry, sweet vocals and a pulsating low end that hits like a heartbeat. Vulnerable lyrics explore the weight of love and sacrifice, laced with subtle callbacks to past eras of the band’s work. Euphoric production builds as seductive sax riffs weave through the mix, adding a jazzy edge to the track’s hypnotic vibe. As one of the band’s most personal tracks, “YOU” reflects the idea of LOST IN HEAVEN, which lead vocalist and programmer Mitchel Cave describes as, “Even in the most beautiful places, you can feel alone and out of your depth.”
Throughout their rapid rise, Chase Atlantic has stayed true to their mission of making music that hits hard, no matter the genre. Their polished, production-focused sound is rooted in their skills as musicians, playing their own instruments instead of relying on samples, which has earned them a fiercely loyal fanbase, 8.1 billion streams, and 855 million YouTube views. The road to LOST IN HEAVEN wasn’t easy—a writing trip turned into a survival mission during a massive blizzard, and later, Mitchel’s laptop crashed, wiping out most of the album’s instrumentals.

“We basically had to make a fifth album, because we lost so much of what we were gonna do,” Mitchel recalls. “I still don’t keep any backups. I guess I like playing with fire. Or maybe I like the challenges, because none of our albums have been a piece of cake.”

The troubled process ultimately gave rise to an album as diverse as it is incredible, reflecting both the band’s resilience and their determination to push their sound forward. Lead track “DIE FOR ME” made an immediate impact, racking up over 17 million streams on Spotify and 2.5 million views on YouTube in its first month. Follow-up singles “DOUBT IT” and “RICOCHET” further showcase the band’s undeniable ability for creating captivating, genre-blurring tracks that blend sleek production with their signature style.

CHASE ATLANTIC are currently headlining their LOST IN HEAVEN tour, with special guest 24kGoldn. Following their North American dates, the band will take their explosive live show overseas, with performances slated across Australia and Europe in support of the new album.

WIL LINDER ‘Keep Getting Fooled’ (Single)

In all of his country glory, Wil Linder’s latest song ‘Keep Getting Fooled’ comes straight from the back deck overlooking a field, and will hit listeners on Friday. November 8th.

Coming from the rural outskirts of Sydney, Wil Linder is chasing the dream. Starting his career at 19, he’s made his way around the New South Wales circuit, with his shows drawing in crowds of hundreds. His soulful conviction to music has swirled together to a unique sound, a country-rock-indie sensation. His electric guitar-play, sublime melodies, and evocative live presence have led to sold-out performances at venues like the iconic Richmond Regent Theatre.

‘Keep Getting Fooled’ is a raw, real country song tinted with grunge, an emotive tale told from behind a bottle, pouring his soul into the glass in front of him. Steady and impactful drums permeate throughout the song, and Wil’s subtle twang adds a husky edge to his singing.

This song was built from lyrics thought up on a drive that were so vivid they showed up in his dreams– it’s an ode to those who get lost in their own minds, and the struggles that come with facing reality when the world you can dream up is so crystal clear. Wil reflects, “You can dream all you like but sometimes reality is a harsh beast to face… At times, it’s the world turning its back on you and telling you to get a ‘real job’ or a ‘safe job’, other times it’s your own mind playing games with you and stealing the confidence you once had.”

Get lost in the daydream of ‘Keep Getting Fooled’, Wil Linder’s newest single, when it comes out on Friday. November 8th.

MAYA IXCHELL ‘Hurricane’ (Single)

In her newest charming folk-pop song, Maya Ixchell dives into heartbreak and grapples with impulsive thoughts of breaking away and starting a new life. On November 8th, she’ll let her thoughts out into the world in the form of ‘Hurricane’.

This Perth-based artist pulls from her real lived experiences to write heart-wrenching, breathtaking lyrics that stick with listeners. She’s opened for iconic performers like Hoodoo Gurus, Jon Stevens, Baby Animals, Mark Seymour, Fieldsy, Joan & The Giants, and Mitchell Martin. Her live shows have captured the hearts of the audiences at festivals like Nannup Music Festival, Out of the Woods Festival and Country Sounds Festival and at her West Coast Tour from Perth to Broome.

Her newest single, ‘Hurricane’, is a slow, emotive tune with shimmery guitar and sweet vocals that let her lyrical prowess shine. The sad melody is imbued with a gentle passion, the drums adding gravity to her vocals to let the undiluted feelings build up. With faint echoing vocals in the background, this is a beautifully moody story told through song.

The lyrics are heartbroken prose that fights with the internal urge to give everything up and run away to start fresh across the globe– written at a crossroads in Maya Ixchell’s life, this song details the destruction she could have had on her loved ones if she took the leap to leave it all behind.

Consider what might have been with Maya Ixchell’s ‘Hurricane’ when it drops on Friday, November 8.

JOHN DOWLER’S VANITY ‘Hunnicut’s Van’ (Single) ‘Existential Friend’ (Album out Nov 29)

Half A Cow is proud to announce the November 29 release of a new album by John Dowler’s  Vanity Project, entitled Existential Friend, and the release today of the album’s first single, melodic gem “Hunnicut’s Van”, which dates back to Dowler’s short-lived and unrecorded early ’80s power pop group Everybody’s So Glad.

To be released digitally, on LP and on CD, the album is the third by the Melbourne-based vehicle for singer and songwriter John Dowler, a man who was a key figure in Australia’s alternative rock’n’roll scene of the ‘70s and ‘80s.

John Dowler’s Vanity Project is a culmination of Dowler’s previous work, and touches on the art-pop rock of the first band Spare Change and the pub folk-rock of his ‘80s band the Zimmermen, with the melodic pop rock/power pop of his late ‘70s band-most-likely, Young Modern, at its heart.

Formed in 2014, JDVP have been steadily building a profile on Melbourne’s inner-city scene for a decade now and have evolved into something special; they’re not just a singer with a backing band, but a real band, a cohesive, powerful unit with their own sound and an ability to cover any base. Guitarists Mark McCartney and Justin Bowd provide colour, detail and spark, combining jangle with some grunt and noise. McCartney first played with Dowler a couple of decades back, has also worked with the likes of Mick Thomas and Barb Waters, and these days also plays with Meghan Maike & the Cactus Flowers and Jo Meares’s Silver Bullets. In the Vanity Project, he likes to let it rip. Bowd has played with Cinema, Jim Kane and with Middle Age Fanclub, and provides a bit more of the sweetness and light. He also contributes some fine tunes.

Drummer Michael Stranges, who has also worked with Kim Salmon on a number of projects, including the Darling Downs with Ron S Peno, drives with a light touch and punctuates perfectly, provides some backing vocals and also contributes to the writing. Returning bassplayer Julien Chick – formerly of the Vandas and also of Blackbirds FC and with Meghan Maike – provides muscle and underpins things sweetly and also helps with the b/vs.

And Dowler, whose voice is wry and mellifluous, is immediately recognisable. He brings to the band not just great singing and great songs, but taste. The band’s new album Existential Friend, recorded again with Craig Pilkington (Killjoys, Archie Roach etc) at his Audrey Studios, includes ten new band originals that combine melody, invention and wry humour, as well as one tune (‘Hunnicut’s Van’) salvaged from Dowler’s short-lived 1980 power pop outfit Everybody’s So Glad and another (“When We Meet Again”) revived from early Zimmermen days.

Buy “Hunnicut’s Van” now, or pre-order the album and get the track immediately from Bandcamp:

THE KUNINS ‘Waiting For Lily’ (Album)

Brisbane/Meanjin father-daughter folk duo The Kunins have released their second album ‘Waiting For Lily’. An album of gorgeous, stripped-back acoustic instrumentation and beautiful vocal harmonies, ‘Waiting For Lily’ showcases a body of work both thematically deep and musically stirring, built around the family bond that has so strongly informed their songwriting.

The pair have swiftly earned a reputation for their stunning live shows; performances that leave audiences floored. And it was this connection with the listener that was a significant inspiration for creating the album. By stripping back any additional instrumentation and bringing things right back to the basics, they have been able to bring listeners as close to the live experience as possible. Each song has just two voices, and two instruments. That’s it. “Once we played live, we realised that we needed to create an album which replicated our live connections,” explains Lily Maia.

Music has always been an integral part of The Kunins’ lives. It runs in their veins. Ken’s father was also a songwriter. But it wasn’t until 2022 when the two were made fully aware of just how well their songs and their voices blended. Once that discovery was made, there was no turning back.

“Our aim was to create an around-the-campfire, intimate, collection of songs that connect our experiences and dreams.” Ken Kunin, The Kunins

At just 20 years old, Lily Maia has acquired a voice and songwriting ability beyond her years. Built on a solid foundation of Billie Marten, Simon & Garfunkel, Lana Del Rey and Ray LaMontagne, her songs are inspired by everything from her own personal experiences, to books and film. But what will always be most inspiring is trusting in the process and letting the song lead the way.

With an already storied career under his belt, Ken has released 11 albums, toured throughout the US, had music featured in TV and film, and ran indie label Underhill Recordings. He has also enjoyed success with previous band Davis Waits, with singles ‘Senorita’ and ‘My Dear Kate’ both charting in the US. A native to Los Angeles, Ken moved from the US to Australia 23 years ago and has called Brisbane home ever since. Ken draws inspiration for his songs from a range of different sources such as 70’s cinema, his deep connections with fans, friends & family, and even Eastern philosophical traditions (he has a degree in East Asian Studies).

The Kunins have also recently completed the music supervision for a soon-to-be-released US film ‘The Casanova Killer’ which features 15 of Ken’s original songs alongside 2 ofLily Maia’s.

The album was recorded at Lush Recording Studios in Brisbane. The album was produced by The Kunins and was recorded and mixed by James Griffiths (Beyonce, The Avett Brothers, Peter Murray, The Cat Empire, Guy Sebastian). Mastering was completed by Ken Kunin and James Griffiths.

The Kunins are playing the following shows:

CLIO RENNER ‘Running Circles’ (Single out November 29)

Melbourne-based artist Clio Renner is excited to announce the release of her second single from her upcoming sophomore album, Don’t Hurry the Dance. Running Circles is a compelling new track, that delves into the emotional tugof- war between hopefulness and despair, particularly as the need for nourishment—both for people and the planet—grows increasingly urgent.

With poignant lyrics and evocative melodies, the song captures the inner struggle of navigating our choices amidst overwhelming feelings of vulnerability and the desire to crumble entirely. Renner’s unique sound blends introspective storytelling with a rich sonic landscape, inviting listeners to reflect on their own experiences of hope and uncertainty.

“A part of me doesn’t even recall writing this song now, it just sort of appeared. Not long after lockdown. It feels rough looking back, only to realise things in our world don’t seem to be changing for the better. How we move through it, and observe, is a choice that doesn’t feel tangible a lot of the time. Can we trust or look optimistically toward those who hold power.. to those who can, to those we call upon? Remains to be seen.”

Clio has worked with numerous notable Australian and international musicians including Angus and Julia Stone, Paul Kelly, Remi Wolf, Missy Higgins, Alex Lahey, Bob Evans, Tim Rogers, G Flip, Killing Heidi, WILSN and Olympia. Additionally she has been the keyboardist for the beloved Rockwiz house band for ten years. Clio’s reputation as a world-class musician already precedes her… this is the work of an incredibly accomplished songwriter and composer- Paul Dempsey

I believe her now, I’ll still believe her tomorrow… and in the world where everything so brief and meaningless, she stands out amongst the crowd! – Kate Cebrano

A star whose intelligence runs bewitchingly with her powers. Watch her rise. Tim Rogers

There is an effortlessness… Clio’s vocals float across rich and dynamic textures, with challenging structures and arrangements presented with a sense of simplicity and ease – Tom Iansek (Big Scary)

Clio’s music is evocative and elusive. Her personal lyrics conceal their sources, eschewing narrative in favour of allusion and intimation. – Joseph Connor (Music Trust)

ANAIS CAMPBELL ‘Had Enough’ (Single)

Anais Campbell burst onto the scene at just 17 years old, armed with a groundbreaking EP crafted in country music mecca, Nashville TN. After briefly stepping away from the spotlight to navigate life in her early 20s, Anais is back with the hooky not-so-drinking song, ‘Had Enough’.

Layers of rubbery acoustic guitar merge with airy synth tones to form the backbone of Anais’ innovative single. The songbird’s silky vocal quickly takes centre stage, as she delivers a twist on the classic party trope. “It’s a drinking song for the not-so-drinkers,” explains the singer-songwriter. “One more drink / What’s the difference now / I think I’ve had enough,” she sings, closing out the song’s catchy chorus.

Kix Country Network’s Justin Thomson praises the young singer’s originality, saying “There is nobody else who sounds like Anais. Her unique style is refreshing. I look forward to what the future holds.”

‘Had Enough’ is a joyful summer singalong, anchored by a forward-thinking sound – courtesy of Melbourne based producer, Ben Oldland (Genes, Tyde Levi, Sidney). “Being in the studio was so fun, I felt right at home!” recalls Anais. The song’s lyrics emerged from an afternoon the pair spent in the studio and quickly snowballed into the finished track.

Beginning her career less than decade ago, Anais has already kicked major goals. After recording her debut EP in Nashville, the singer-songwriter followed it up with ‘Drink Me Down’, a single tracked in London. She’s cut her teeth at veritable venues and festivals like Tamworth Country Music Festival, Cairns Festival, Tanks Arts Centre, Brisbane EKKA and Tropics Muster (QMF). In recent years Anais stepped away from the stage to focus on songwriting, striking up fruitful collaborations with fellow Queenslander, Brad Butcher, and newcomer, Robbie Mortimer.

With ‘Had Enough’, Anais Campbell showcases her ability to push the boundaries of country music. After a brief hiatus, she returns more mature, poised, and ready to carve out a distinctive space in the country music landscape.

SARA STORER ‘Layers’ (Single)

Acclaimed singer songwriter, and 22 x Golden Guitar and ARIA Award winning Sara Storer today releases the second single, ‘Layers’, from her upcoming 8th solo album set for release in 2025. Not one to shy away from calling out injustice when she sees it, Sara has long been an advocate for the marginalised and bullied, listening to their stories and weaving them into her songs.

Sara penned ‘Layers’ after being told about the bullying of a young girl in her community. Like most teens, she had been impacted by the perfect TikTok lives of her peers. Young people are consumed by a social media world which bombards them with images of impossible perfection, and we are now seeing the damaging effects of constant social comparison on their emotional and mental health.

Amid growing calls for social media age restrictions, Sara’s latest single, ‘Layers’, speaks to the harm inflicted on teenagers by social media and the rising concern of parents and the community for the future of our young people.

Produced by multi award winning Matt Fell, the song, as Sara tells it, is a tale parents and teens are living daily: “This song isn’t going to change the world but too often I hear of another young girl battling the pressures of social media. All the good work parents do in building solid foundations of self-love, self-confidence, fearlessness and uniqueness all destroyed by unrealistic brain washing by social media.

Perfection: girls already have it! Then there’s a tough day at school because someone said something that gave them a little bit of self-doubt. Unfortunately, today, there’s no escaping social media. It follows teens home and reinforces those damaging ideas – once restricted to the school yard- well into the night.

Girls don’t get a break! And this torture eventually erodes the core love they have for themselves. Doubt creeps in. Social media overrides all the good the parents have done. It’s in front of them on a screen 24 hours a day constantly reinforcing perfect, perfect, perfect. What is left? A young girl with severe mental health issues and an unfair start in life.”

‘Layers’ cuts through the veneer of social media perfection and asks us to see that beneath it all “there’s a girl who wants just the same things as you.”

JACOTÉNE ’Stop Calling’ (Single)

Rising sensation JACOTÉNE is back with her latest single, ‘Stop Calling‘, a defiant anthem that explores the thrill of independence and self-assurance.

JACOTÉNE says of the track “”Stop Calling’ talks about a desire to break free from a toxic connection. The song is about the frustration and empowerment you feel in the face of a dishonest or manipulative relationship. It’s a situation where you’ve given another person multiple chances, but the lies and manipulation continue. It’s a song about independence and a refusal to be drawn back into an unhealthy dynamic”

JACOTÉNE continues to prove she’s a force to be reckoned with, bringing her magnetic energy and relatable storytelling to new heights. ‘Stop Calling’ is set to resonate with listeners everywhere, as it offers a liberating escape from old habits and toxic calls—literally and figuratively. This is the first track to come from JACOTÉNE’s upcoming debut EP to be released in 2025.

There are some voices that stop you in your tracks as soon as you hear them; voices with a triple-threat of power, beauty and uniqueness. JACOTÉNE possesses one such voice. It’s the kind that sounds instantly timeless and full of its own rich character and soul as she uses it to belt out big notes and softer, subtler moments.

In the past year JACOTÉNE has played a string of festivals and live dates including her own sold-out headline show in the UK, a Sydney Opera House show for VIVID Festival as well as festival slots on Laneway Festival, Snow Machine, Wanderer, Changing Tides and St Kilda Festivals. She also supported G FLIP on their Melbourne and Adelaide tour dates, and Tems in Sydney and Melbourne.

Over the next few months, she will be playing in Germany, UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, as well as shows in Australia.

WILLARIS K ‘Everything Is As It Should be’ (Album)

Naarm based producer Willaris. K today shares his long-awaited, immersive debut album, Everything Is As It Should Be. The much-anticipated debut album marks a new chapter for Willaris. K. Everything Is As It Should Be maintains the brooding, pulsating energy that first brought him critical acclaim, while navigating intricate and hard-won emotional highs and lows.

For many years, Willaris. K’s (Jack McAllister) debut album was going to be something else entirely, but when his world began collapsing around him, he was forced to change course. Having always been ‘an emotional, sensitive person,’ it took crafting an album-length project and doing the hard, introspective work in the process, to clock that the heaviness in his music was the articulation he has been bottling up.

New single In Retrospect is one of the softest and most beautiful moments on the album. It was one of the songs that was quickest to finish, with most of the track recorded during one sunset session at Willaris. K’s AirBnb studio in Mount Tambourine, just outside of the Gold Coast.

“This album is and was me spending a lot of time finding peace and that creative space driven purely on instincts and feeling. All I wanted is for it to be true to me and I think I achieved that. Thank you to everyone that helped make it with me, supported me along the way and most importantly you people that decide to spend your time listening to it.” – Willaris. K

The album follows singles ‘Drama On The Edge’ featuring HXXD GXLD, ‘Guard’, emotive ‘I Miss You Now’ written with Chloe Kae (Kllo) & CRUSH3d, dance release ‘Backbackback’ and momentous collaboration with 17x ARIA Nominated iconic dance pioneers The Presets ‘World Collapsing’, which led to a euphoric jamesjamesjames remix. Mixed by Ewan Pearson (The Chemical Brothers, M83, Röyksopp), the highly anticipated 12-track debut album is a true masterclass in immersive and boundary-pushing electronic production.

COAST ARCADE ‘City Limits’ (Single/Video)

Following on from the release of their single ‘Baited’ earlier this year, Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland indie group Coast Arcade are back with a new dose of sounds in ‘City Limits’. Further establishing themselves as a band to watch, the latest from the Aotearoa four-piece is an empowering ode to dreams of breaking free in hopes of exploring new opportunities and horizons.

Created at Big Fan Studios, ‘City Limits’ saw Coast Arcade reunited with Clint Murphy (North Atlas, Enter Shikari) and Ryan Smith (L.S. Dunes, Smashing Pumpkins) on mixing and mastering respectively. The sound is inline with what made songs like ‘Baited’, as well as their 2023 EP Next To Me so engaging: a masterful hold on energy and pacing, Coast Arcade’s musical vision is built on a solid band chemistry and delivery of euphoric rhythms and melodies.

“’City Limits’ is an exciting step for us as a band. It really solidifies the direction we want to take with our sound, and we’re stoked to see how our existing fanbase reacts to it, as well as the new listeners it draws in.” COAST ARCADE

Accompanying the release of ‘City Limits’, Coast Arcade have also revealed the single’s official music video – created in their hometown, directed by David Argue.

The song itself, described as being “for anyone who has felt trapped in their surroundings, whether it’s in their hometown or life in general”, rides the energy of simply wanting more for oneself. That yearning for something new and unfamiliar, which can ultimately lead to validation. ‘City Limits’ is a perfect addition to the Coast Arcade catalogue, as they themselves look to reach new heights as a group.

“We feel like this is our best music video yet, it really captures how we feel when we hear the song and it also shows both the serious and fun side of the band.” COAST ARCADE

The trajectory of Coast Arcade since their breakthrough in 2021 has been an impressive one. Developing a killer reputation as a live band supporting artists including Lime Cordiale, Grandson, Bootleg Rascal, The Grogans, The Terrys, Teenage Dads and The Beths, Coast Arcade have gotten their chemistry and a dynamism as live band on lock.

Fronted by Bella Bavin (vocals, guitar), Thom Boynton (drums), Leo Spykerman (bass) and Arlo Birrs (guitar), Coast Arcade have emerged as one of Aotearoa’s most exciting groups on the indie-rock scene.

Their debut EP, 2023’s Next To Me, introduced listeners to the breadth of Coast Arcade’s writing and instrumentation; exciting music building on vibrant melodies and arrangement. Featuring singles ‘Surf Club’ and ‘Highest Heights’ – the latter of which has accrued over 200,000 streams alone – the EP was the perfect statement of intent and a display of the potential this young group had tapped into.

With the release of ‘Baited’, Coast Arcade picked up where they left off, its success earning playlist support from Spotify (Fresh Finds) and international radio play in the USA, Australia and Europe. Reaching #3 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart.

ALEX ELBERY ‘Ripcord’ (Single/Video)

Perth-born, Melbourne-based songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Alex Elbery takes an exuberant leap via his brand new single Ripcord. Releasing today with an accompanying whimsical music videoRipcord is a warm and dynamic ode to falling in love, coated with billowing pop hues, driving alt rock undertones and an endearing Aussie tinge alongside heartfelt lyricism.

Starting production before the COVID pandemic, the journey to finally releasing Ripcord was lined with hurdles for Elbery, both internal and external. But against the odds and also sonically inspired by a myriad of iconic artists at the time, including Bruce Springsteen, The Clash, and Cyndi Lauper, Elbery’s buoyant capturing of impetuous love was also fortified by teaming up with prolific producer Jon Grace (Dear Seattle, Bakers Eddy, Kingswood, Dune Rats). “Ripcord was really a collaboration between Jon and I,” explains Elbery. “I wrote it, brought it to Jon and then we spent a fairly long time working to get it to be the best version it could be. Everything except the drums was played my either myself or Jon. Jon, who has since retired from music, is an absolute genius and I loved working with him.”

“Ripcord is a song about falling in love,” Elbery continues. “I wrote it as I was/after I had fallen in love with my partner. I wanted to write a love song that was honest and leaned into the messier, less fairytale aspects of falling in love. I liked the analogy of falling in love being like falling out of the sky. Your destination is inevitable but the velocity with which you’re travelling towards it determines whether you’ll land safely or crash and burn – hence – ‘pull on the ripcord.’ I’ve always been someone who rushes into things with reckless abandon, so this song was almost like a mantra I was writing to myself. “

Mastered by Tony “Jack The Bear” Mantz (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Augie March, Silverchair), Ripcord is a lively and polished outing from Elbery, whose creative charms have previously been described as “Bruce Springsteen meets The Muppets” and “Outback Prince”. And while Ripcord is the first release of 2024 for Elbery, it also marks the debut single from a planned upcoming EP Unbelievably Good News; and the accompanying music video perfectly ties into the EP’s overarching themes, with the video production courtesy of Helen Turton, Jordan Laut and Jack Rintoul of Wendyhouse Films. “A big theme of Ripcord and the EP it belongs to is falling/flying,” Elbery shares, “so I wanted to create something that played with these ideas. There’s a scene in Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey where they’re falling to hell and they’re just falling for ages in this black void – I showed this scene to the folks at Wendyhouse and they took it and ran with it. They also came up with the idea of ‘ninja stage hands.’ It’s an idea that comes from Japanese theatre, it’s about acknowledging artifice, and I really loved that concept.”

Hailing from Perth, Alex Elbery has been immersed in creativity since he was five years old when he started playing the violin. Elbery went on to start his first band at the age of 13, putting on gigs at lunchtime while at school, and played in bands Mulder and Stereoflower before moving to Melbourne. A passionate supporter for social justice, particularly LGBTQIA+ issues and issues surrounding gender inequality, addiction, and mental health, Elbery also has a fondness for birds, particularly his two beloved pet cockatiels, and is a dedicated fan of wrestling (“I hate violence, but I sure do love some soap opera in spandex”, Elbery reveals). Currently also involved with other Melbourne bands Damaged Goods Club and Overthinker, the latest chapter for Elbery’s solo creative pursuits is sparked today by the release of Ripcord, heralding a new EP Unbelievably Good Things in the not-too-distant future, with a chance for fans to also catch the new tune live in action on Saturday 14 December at Melbourne’s Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar.

“Fans can expect a huge amount of energy, a huge amount of love, some silly outfits and a lot of bad dance moves,” shares Elbery of his upcoming live show. “I feel a mix of excitement and relief about the release of Ripcord. It’s been a long and weird road. We started production back before COVID and there’s been many roadblocks along the way; first lock downs, then my own personal struggles with addiction and mental health issues. I’m in a really good place now and just can’t wait to share this music with the world as it’s come to mean so much to me over the past few years that I’ve been working towards its release.”

51ST AVENUE ‘The Dark’ (Single)

Coming in hot with their third single for 2024, 51st Avenue continue down a heavier path with their pulsating new track ‘The Dark’.

As we saw on the bands previous single ‘Moments’; ‘The Dark’ is full to the brim with riffs, dynamic vocal passages and a brilliant use of atmosphere. With a future-forward approach sonically, the band blend elements of electronic music, pop-punk and metalcore with ease – weaving in and out of melodic, scene-setting verses and fully-fledged breakdowns effortlessly.

Thematically the track lives up to its title – describing a scenario where a path without adversity is hard to find.

“Guess who’s back? 51st emo’s back again! Sometimes the dark just calls – see what I did there? I think I felt a bit lyrically messy with this one, really in my head. We just get into situations where our backs are against the wall and there’s very little choice on our part but the choice made will still have a huge effect. Like you’re stuck in the middle and it’s too hard to make the right decision because that will still have collateral damage.

Essentially, all roads lead to ‘The Dark’. I wanted to show that one sided dialogue of justifying and pleading all in one. I think we’ve all been there and I think we forget that as much as people are out there judging those choices, there are those who’d understand if they knew what was up.”  51ST AVENUE

‘The Dark’ marks the second collaboration with the band’s new bassist, Anthony Carollo, and was recorded and mixed once again at Keywork Audio by Mark Williamson (A Swift Farewell, Alienist, Keepsake). While staying true to the classic 51st Avenue formula, the band have continued to evolve in both the songwriting and production process, elevating their sound to a new level on each release.,

“The last few songs we have pushed ourselves into a different direction. The song ‘The Dark’ revisits our usual 51st Avenue formula. Heavy riffs, electronic verses, driving drum beats and catchy melodies. While using the 51st Avenue formula we still incorporated new elements. This song like MOMENTS features a breakdown and is still slightly heavier than our other material.”  51ST AVENUE

The Sydney 4-piece have continued to make a name for themselves within the Australian music industry over the last few years; with opening spots for the likes of The Beautiful Monument, Eat Your Heart Out & Misery Loves Company; consistent radio support from triple J and triple J Unearthed; and and impressive 450k+ streams across their discography to date.

PLANET RAMI ‘Another Day At Home’ (Single)

Planet Rami has today graced listeners with new single ‘Another Day At Home’, the single follows Rami’s recent announcement that he has signed to Pointer Recordings.

‘Another Day At Home’ is a lush, melancholic indie tribute to the dull days produced by Julian Sudek (Royel Otis, Genesis Owusu), and is accompanied by a tongue-in-cheek, gorilla-filled music video directed by film maker Luke Hackett.

Planet Rami says, “’Another Day At Home’ is about the stagnant nature of days seamlessly drifting by whilst you wait for an outcome, mend your heart from heartbreak or try to find your purpose in life. We’ve all been there. The Netflix doesn’t seem fulfilling, the food tastes boring and the youtube spiralling gets tragic. There is a beauty in taking time to process emotions and I wanted to bring that process to the surface. We’ve all been through it and will all go through it at some point in our lives. But not to worry, you will spend ‘Another Day At Home’ and some will be just as beautiful as those which were sad and dark. It’s just ‘Another Day At Home’ after all.”

Planet Rami emerges as the soulful and melancholic brainchild of artist and musician Rami Al-hanbali, guiding you on a journey that gracefully navigates the realms of alternative rock. Originally hailing from the vibrant city of Perth, Rami recently found a new artistic home in the bustling energy of Sydney.

Born out of a profound exploration of emotions and introspection, Planet Rami’s music delves into the depths of the human experience. Shaped by his Palestinian heritage and Australian upbringing, Rami’s unique perspective weaves a tapestry of rich, emotive sounds that resonate with listeners.

At the core of Planet Rami’s sonic universe lies a captivating blend of melancholy and soulfulness, creating a musical landscape that is both haunting and comforting.

MAYBE IN MAY ‘Waiting’ (Single)

‘Maybe in May’ performs angsty indie alt-pop with rich tones, dreamy melodies and a youthful reflection of growing pains. The Eora/ Sydney based band consists of five non-men, queer musicians, who feel like they’ve been best friends forever. ‘Maybe in May’ isn’t just a band, they are a mood, an ethos, an experience. They have the time of their lives on stage and invite you to take a moment out of yours to be with them, dancing, singing along and feeling the connection and community they are building. The quintet they are today, consists of; Marissa (Lead Vocals), Grace (Bass), Sarah (Drums), Gab (Lead Guitar) and Gabby (Rhythm Guitar). These friends have come together to make music that has an impact both creatively and lyrically.

‘Waiting’ is ‘Maybe in May’s’ sophomore single, releasing on the 8th November 2024. ‘Waiting’ in an anthem about queer love. Taken from personal experience, discovering your identity and along with that finding the person that you only could have dreamt of. It is about being able to unapologetically feel love and yearning for someone and telling the world about it.

After having various relationships with men, finally discovering your sexuality and realising what love actually feels like is one of the most liberating but also scary feelings. “I felt a lot of regret and embarrassment when I finally met my person. After thinking for a long time that I had to be a certain way my whole life. But at the same time it was so special and that first proper queer love experience was the best thing to ever happen to me. I didn’t know what I was missing until I found it.”- Marissa. We want this song to help people feel less alone and know that it doesn’t matter how long you wait, you will find love.

The song was written earlier this year with producer Alex Berger, Grace and Marissa of Maybe in May. Later the song was recorded, mixed and produced independently by Gab Panza (our lead guitarist) using JMC studios as well as her home studio. The song was then mastered by Steve Smart of Studio 301.

Single Launch and Music Video

‘Maybe in May’ will also be screening their independently made music video at their single launch on Friday the 22nd November. “The video follows a surreal world where power and control intertwine with obsession. A magnetic young woman lures others into her eerie, cult-like influence, leading through a series of dream-like encounters that blur the lines between reality and desire.” The single launch and screening will take place at The Red Rattler for their second “Free The Friday” event. Tickets are free but reservation is required.

The Music Video was directed by our own, Gabby Tarabay and was also selected to be screened at the Clipped Music Video Festival, alongside videos by Hermitude, Sarah Yagki etc. The Music Video will be released to the Public a week later on the 29th of November. https://youtu.be/Ba7LtvrlsTE

HARRY FITZGERALD ’Talk It Out’ (Single)

Sydney artist Harry Fitzgerald has made his return with a brand new release titled ‘Talk It Out’; a song that details the experience of “choosing silence over communication to avoid conflict” in relationships while being sonically charismatic and incredibly danceable. On the new single, Harry expands;

“‘Talk It Out’ is a song that really taps into some of my more avoidant tendencies, both in relationships and in dealing with my own emotions. It’s about how, sometimes, I’d rather just keep quiet and keep the peace instead of risking a confrontation that might stir things up. There’s a kind of fear that comes with the idea of speaking up, especially when it feels like what you say might cause a rift, or when you start believing that the other person’s feelings are more important than your own discomfort.”  HARRY FITZGERALD

As a gorgeously unguarded and honest track delving into some pretty charged topics, ‘Talk It Out’ utilises a sense of glittering charm and ease, while still well and truly managing to hit home thematically. The track blends indie pop and electro-pop sensibilities, the result being a stunning, funky, bass and synth-driven gem, evoking a vibe similar to beloved acts like Ruel, Wallows and Troye Sivan.

Releasing his first ever tracks (‘Better Thoughts’ and ‘Head in Knots’) in 2020 at the age of 17, Harry Fitzgerald has been writing music since he was just 15 years old. Following these debut releases, Harry saw support from a range of spaces across the industry; ‘Head in Knots’ was featured by Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, while ‘Better Thoughts’ was featured on the Vogue Paris playlist. Both tracks were also featured by Channel 7 on beloved Australian drama program, Home & Away. Meanwhile, Harry was picked as a triple j Unearthed High finalist for 2020. Having been signed to a recording deal with Ivy League Records (Mushroom) but since having ended his contract with the label in order to pursue an independent artist path, ‘Talk It Out’ arrives as Harry’s first release since his 2020 duo of singles, and as the first step into an exciting new era for the young indie artist.

“At its core, ‘Talk It Out’ is a song about fear— fear of upsetting someone, fear of showing weakness, fear of what might happen if I really open up. It’s not a resolution, though; it’s more of an honest snapshot of that struggle. I hope listeners can relate, especially those who’ve had moments where they just couldn’t find the words, even though they needed to say something.”  HARRY FITZGERALD

THE THE  ‘Risin’ Above The Need / Where Do We Go When We Die?’ (Single)

The final single from THE THE’s Ensoulment album is a double-A side release featuring the tracks ‘Risin’ Above The Need’ and ‘Where Do We Go When We Die?’.

Matt Johnson explains, “Having now had the chance to perform the new album live across the UK, Europe and America, we found that these two songs were amongst the most popular. ‘Where Do We Go When We Die?’ was written for my late father Eddie Johnson (author of Tales From The Two Puddings) whilst ‘Risin’ Above The Need’ is a philosophical muse upon addiction and materialism and the power of the human spirit to overcome obstacles.”

Both sleeves feature exclusive, previously unpublished artwork by Matt’s late brother Andrew aka Andy Dog who, over the years, was very much responsible for the distinctive aesthetic style of THE THE’s releases.

The single is digitally released on 6th November and available as a limited edition 7” vinyl single from 6th December.

Access ‘Risin’ Above The Need / Where Do We Go When We Die?’

https://TheThe.lnk.to/RisinAboveTheNeedPR

Ensoulment itself contains echoes of THE THE’s multifaceted musical past, however it is richly representative of the mercurial band’s here and now. Johnson is characteristically unafraid to tackle the emotional complexity inherent in the human condition – intimacy in an age of alienation; democracy in a post-truth age; empire and vassalage; and the inexorable rise of AI – yet the album is equally shot through with hope.

“It’s vital to be hopeful – and I hope people get out of the album what we put into it. It was created under very happy circumstances, with a great vibe amongst the band and all the people that worked on it. There was a lot of thought, a lot of work, a lot of love, a lot of laughter!” – Matt Johnson

Ensoulment  is available in retail as a Ltd CD Hardcover Media Book, CD jewel case, Black 2 LP gatefold and Crystal Clear 2 LP gatefold.

JUICE WEBSTER ‘Hannah’ (Single/Video)

Following on from stand-out showcases at BIGSOUND 2024 and SXSW Sydney 2024, Melbourne alt-folk Juice Webster returns with new single ‘Hannah’ – marking the first new release since her critically acclaimed 2023 debut album JULIA. To celebrate the release, Juice Webster has also announced a headline show taking place in Melbourne on Thursday November 28, and also revealed the official video clip for the new single. ‘Hannah’ is out now everywhere via COHORT.

Marking a new era for Juice Webster, ‘Hannah’ balances the warm, dreamy textures that shone through on JULIA with bigger and brighter indie-rock elements creating an introspective yet impactful soundscape. “I started writing ‘Hannah’ when I was feeling very stuck and caught in a loop of acting more out of obligation than desire. I put a lot of pressure on myself and in a way, this song is largely directed towards myself” Juice explains. “While I was feeling this way, my friend Hannah and I went to the pool and spent a really nice afternoon together. She has this way of making me feel at ease. I can say whatever is on my mind and she will speak it back to me through a lens of pure understanding. When I got home I felt inspired to include this feeling in the song I’d been writing, because I had been feeling so bad, and Hannah made me feel so good – it was like magic”.

Working with ARIA nominated producer Simon Lam (Charli XCX, Cub Sport, Allday, Phoebe Go, Gretta Ray, Kllo, Armlock), Juice adds “The song was produced by Simon Lam who, as always, approached the song really tenderly and thoughtfully”.

To celebrate the release of ‘Hannah’, Juice Webster has also revealed the official video clip for the single by Joey Clough (Rebecca Black, Fazerdaze, Kllo, Phoebe Go).

KEE’AHN ‘Love You More’ (Single)

Naarm-based artist Kee’ahn (she/they/nyulu) releases tender and grooving new single, ‘Love You More’, a soulful journey into queerness and the all encompassing feeling of new love. Co-written and produced by Jake Amy and Anthony Liddell, ‘Love You More’ reflects Kee’ahn’s evolving musical style with a more vibrant neo-soul pop sound.

Kee’ahn shares their experience creating ‘Love You More’, saying, “Most of my music begins as poetry or by writing melodies on the fly, connecting self and feeling, building imagery from that. I wanted to challenge myself and grow with new processes.  I really enjoyed writing with Jake Amy and Anthony Liddell in the studio – being super experimental and in the moment working with different elements of house, hip-hop, and jazz.

“Jake played the chords freely, with Anthony adding this deadly baseline. I had previously written a poem about love inspired by a date I had been on, and it felt so connected to the music. Everything flowed, and we found it within 10 minutes. We later had Sensible J play drums on the track, added more bv’s, Jake and Anthony worked their magic.”

The accompanying video is a “tribute to friends and the genuine love we share” Kee’ahn shares, “It’s a celebration expressed in laughter and dance. I wanted the audience to feel like they’re with us on a night out, experiencing everyone’s uniqueness, the joy, all with a touch of  90s/early 2000s nostalgia.”

With a name meaning “to dance, to play” from the language of the Wik Mungkan people, Kee’ahn is a proud Yalanji, Jirrbal, and Badulaig artist whose work captures both the joys and challenges of life, weaving personal experiences of love, loss, and resilience. Her music is a reflection of their roots, growing up in Far North Queensland surrounded by a strong sense of family, community, and connection to Country. “My songs are diary entries,” Kee’ahn explains. “Music for me is connection to culture, community and to self. Singing feels intuitive and meant to be.”

Influenced by greats including Lauryn Hill, Lianne La Havas, and Janelle Monae, Kee’ahn’s music has gained acclaim across so-called Australia and beyond, featuring collaborations with notable artists such as Emma Donovan, Dallas Woods, and Alice Ivy. Their debut single, ‘Better Things’ (2020), earned Kee’ahn the Archie Roach Foundation Award and Best Emerging Artist from Music Victoria, affirming their powerful presence in the Australian music scene. ‘Love You More’ follows the release of independent singles ‘Sunsets’ and ‘Catch The Night’ which had airplay on triple j, Double J and community radio across the country, as well as features from Acclaim, Women In Pop, Beat The Music, Pilerats and more.

Known for her soulful, captivating performances, Kee’ahn has shared stages with the likes of Julia Jacklin, Hiatus Kaiyote, Greentea Peng and Angie McMahon and performed at WOMADelaide, Strawberry Fields, Wildlands, and Beyond the Valley.

Kee’ahn plays Strawberry Fields on November 14 and will perform for a special one-off broadcast of The Breakfast Spread with Milo Eastwood on PBS, live from Fed Square in Naarm on Thursday 28 November.

EUGENE FOX ‘Miss The Golaie’ (Single)

Melbourne artist Eugene Fox has just released his debut single; a stirring folk track titled ‘Miss The Goalie’. The track oozes with the charm of clever songwriting and sweet, plucky guitar melodies, and was written and recorded in his home studio in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. A song which felt impossible and then, all at once, inevitable, Eugene’s process of crafting the track was a swift and surprising one. On the creation of ‘Miss The Goalie’, he expressed;

“I wrote and recorded the founding parts of the song in January, on a stinkin’ hot day on The Porch, My Stage… The strings on my Martin were totally f@$%ed at the time. The fretboard buzzed like bees, while birds were overtaken by cicadas and I felt the life in the guitar humming along underneath it all. The guitar wouldn’t stay in tune. But the song never left me. And in the end, I just thought, I’ll tune it once more and do one take of everything and see what’s what. It was weird. It quickly felt finished…”  EUGENE FOX

A spirited and innovative artist living with autism and ADHD, but not receiving a correct diagnosis until more recently in his journey, Eugene Fox has spent many years flying under the radar when it came to his own solo creative pursuits. With a mass of experience writing and recording music for his own sense of joy and expression, it is time now, more than ever before, for Eugene to transform this expression into a form for a wider audience to enjoy. Eugene said, on the experience of finding harmony in the interaction between his neurodivergence and art form;

“I write best when I empower the broad nature of my neurodiversity… I have to protect my eyes and ears even when inside often. I’m very grateful to have these solutions as well as a lot of energy and drive. It’s exciting to see so much of my Art developing and have people eager to have access to the Art. I use noise cancelling headphones and sunglasses on a daily basis, without them, my light and sound sensitivity makes it impossible to function. But I can always see the music.”  EUGENE FOX

The single arrives alongside a mesmerisingly psychedelic music video, featuring Eugene dancing his heart out to the track, the impact of which is amplified by some trippy visual effects.

BLUSHER ‘Somebody New’ (Single)

Emerging pop trio Blusher is back with their latest release, ‘Somebody New‘, a pulsating track that rounds out an exciting year of single releases for the band as part of Spotify’s RADAR program. With shimmering synths, infectious beats, and a euphoric chorus, the single captures the energy of embracing change and stepping into the unknown.

‘Somebody New’ is not just a song; it’s an anthem for anyone ready to rewrite their story.

Say Blusher of the track: “Somebody New is our fun, flirty mantra that mirrors the cycle of breaking up, rebounding, swearing off love, and knowing you’ll do it all over again. Mostly, it’s a love song to the friends who are by your side through the whole process.

Late nights out with your new crush, first kisses in the club followed by tears on the dancefloor – whatever stage of the cycle you’re in at the moment, we wrote this song to be the soundtrack.”

The band are playing their long-awaited debut headline shows in Australia next month, hitting up The Lansdowne in Sydney and Northcote Social Club in Melbourne.

Over the past two years the band has supported Tove Lo, Aurora and The Rions in Australia, and Dadi Freyr in the UK, Europe and North America. Additionally in the UK this year they played in Leicester Square for London Pride, at BST Hyde Park headlined by Kylie Minogue, at Latitude Festival, as well as their debut London headline show.

‘Somebody New’ is the fifth single from the band this year after ‘Overglow’, ‘24 Hours in Paris‘, ‘Accelerator‘ and ‘Rave Angel’, all of which follow on from their debut EP Should We Go Dance?  which was released in mid 2023.

MISHAYLA ‘Clutter’ (Single)

With emotive lyrics and heartfelt delivery, Newcastle’s MISHAYLA has been making her presence known, and her impact felt over the last year. Her music, the type of indie pop perfect for fans of artists like Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone and Olivia Rodrigo, has provided a breath of fresh air within the local space.

For 2024, Mishayla returns with a follow up to her track ‘best thing (i never had)’, with the gorgeous new single, ‘Clutter’. Weaving beautiful melodies together with a pop sensibility that demonstrates Mishayla’s clear love for the genre, ‘Clutter’ is another strong step forward for Mishayla. Lyrically, she explores the effects of being completely intoxicated by the presence of another.

“The track is called ‘Clutter’ because it reflects how someone can completely take over your thoughts. It’s that feeling of your mind being full of them, like they’re cluttering your brain in the best way possible.”

“I wanted the song to truly capture the essence of that initial feeling of a crush. From the romantic piano melodies to the lush and lively chorus, every element- I wanted to evoke vulnerability and authenticity. I hope listeners connect with it just as deeply.” MISHAYLA

Along with the release of ‘Clutter’, Mishayala also shares its official music video, shot with Nikola Jovanovic in Newcastle. With a clear vision in mind, playing on the aesthetic of the early 2000s, the ‘Clutter’ music video matches the energy of the single with ease.

“There’s a little café across from my university called The Press Coffee and Book House, with such a cosy vibe. I had a friend who works there connect me with the owner, and I was able to rent out the space for the lyric video and photos. My amazing photographer and videographer, Nikola Jokanovic, really captured the warmth and aesthetic I envisioned.” MISHAYLA

Making her debut in 2023 with the release of her first EP BLEED, Mishayla has continued to expand her reach. Performing alongside artists including Taj Ralph, Little Green and Seb Szabo has continued to elevate Mishayla as a live performer – her presence and reputation growing along with her fanbase.

Already a favourite in her local music community, Mishayla’s vocals and intoxicating brand of indie-pop music has been garnering industry attention and support via the likes of Triple J and Triple J Unearthed, while ‘best thing (i never had)’ has also garnered editorial playlist support from Spotify (‘Pop n’ Fresh’), with over 14k streams to date.

Wil reflects,

“You can dream all you like but sometimes reality is a harsh beast to face… At times, it’s the world turning its back on you and telling you to get a ‘real job’ or a ‘safe job’, other times it’s your own mind playing games with you and stealing the confidence you once had.”

Get lost in the daydream of ‘Keep Getting Fooled’, Wil Linder’s newest single, when it comes out on Friday. November 8th.

LUCINDA POY ‘Selling Out’ (Single out Fri 8 Nov)

Born from a dreary day like a cloud’s silver lining is ‘Selling Out’, Boorloo/Perth-based indie artist Lucinda Poy’s breathtaking second-ever single release, coming out on Friday, November 8th.

At just 19, she made her debut in February of 2024 with her spirited single ‘Just Fine’ which has garnered over 15k streams on Spotify alone and captured the hearts and ears of many with her powerhouse vocals and introspective lyrics.

Her accomplishments don’t end there – She’s won Best Original Song at the Wynnum Fringe Festival in 2022, performed pre-game entertainment at Brisbane stadium The Gabba, toured QLD and New Zealand to promote music opportunities to students and even appeared on Channel 7th’s telethon, making her well-established in the scene.

Now, building upon her debut release, she is releasing ‘Selling Out’, a track delicately produced by WA’s Dylan Ollivierre (The Money War, EDIE, Joan & The Giants). This gorgeous single is made up of tender guitar, layered vocals, and gentle drums that let the heartbroken softness of the song shine through. With her powerful and emotive vocals, Lucinda Poy excels at building a gorgeous soundscape, weaving an immersive experience through her voice.

Written after a very stressful day working in hospitality, this song shines a spotlight on the internal conflict Lucinda feels as she laments on leaving her dreams behind and wonders how her life would look if she continued on in hospitality instead of pursuing her dream of music. She recalls the moment that inspired her to write it,

“I remember the feeling of walking out onto the main street after a late night shift. It’s empty, strewn with rubbish, and you would be the only person there. Feeling like you’re stuck in the same job, in the same place, while everyone moves on with their lives. I felt that I was selling myself short with the decisions I made. ”

Take a moment of raw honesty with Lucinda Poy’s ‘Selling Out’ when it releases on Friday, November 8th.

SPACE&AGES ‘Bittersweet’ (Single)

Brisbane’s 4-piece indie rock band SPACE&AGES has been taking the city by storm with their spacey indie-rock jams, and now they’re back again with undiluted indie perfection in the package of ‘Puzzle Piece’ and its B-side ‘Bittersweet’, coming into orbit on November 8th.

SPACE&AGES are becoming adored for their reflection of Australia’s restless youth and have the rabid fans to prove it. With first plays supported by Triple J Unearthed, single launch concerts sold out, wins in lineup comps like Passport to Airlie, Indieopia and Frothy Fest, and an East Coast tour under their belts, they have an impressive list of accomplishments following their debut in October 2023.

This release is indie at its most recognisable. ‘Puzzle Piece’ is a toe-tapping indie rock anthem, made up of a thick Aussie accent complimenting gorgeous, emotive vocals, boppy guitar, uptempo drums and playful bass riffs.

This song is a young love at sunset, pushing past the feeling of hopelessness and falling into love. Lead singer Phin Spence’s vocals are a showstopper, packed to the brim with emotions and bursting with the energy of vivid daydream. The lyrics are real and raw and hopeful, focusing on staying with a partner even when things get tough.

Its B-side ‘Bittersweet’ is the other side to the coin. This indie-folk song is true to its name, countering ‘Puzzle Piece’ in a softer and sadder song that’s stripped down to acoustic guitar and breathtakingly earnest vocals, a tragic song with thumping drums and melancholic piano when the song builds. It’s a delicate, heartfelt song that echoes the struggle of moving on.

Let the pieces fall in place with SPACE&AGES and their newest release ‘Puzzle Piece’ and its B-side ‘Bittersweet’ when they release on November 8th. Catch them performing at the Airlie Beach Festival this weekend (Nov 8-10).
