SOUTHBOUND FIRE APPEAL RAISES OVER $150,000

southboundpic

Almost 3500 music fans joined JumpClimb Djs, Koi Child, San Cisco, Oh Wonder, Birds of Tokyo, Django Django, Bloc Party and Disclosure at HBF Stadium in Perth last night to raise over $150,000 (with exact figure to come post final settlement) for the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund – Waroona and Districts Fire Relief Appeal 2016.
Following the cancellation of Southbound Festival, VenuesWest and Sunset Events had less than 48 hours to put together a concert featuring many of the headlining acts from the original Southbound Festival.
“We were utterly overwhelmed at the willingness of local businesses, suppliers, staff and our local and international artists who dropped everything to make this event happen last night. The people of West Aus wasted no time throwing their support and money behind this event to help out our friends in the South West through this devastating time.” David Chitty – Southbound Director
VenuesWest Chairman Richard Muirhead said it was wonderful to see so many people rallying to help fellow West Australians affected by the devastating South West bush fires.
“To put together a concert for 3,500 people in under two days is an amazing achievement. I commend everyone involved.” Mr Muirhead continued.
“Staff at VenuesWest were overwhelmed with offers of support from businesses across a range of industries, without their support this event would not have been so successful”.
Many companies offered their services at short notice; AEG Ogden, Audio Technic, Coca Cola Amatil, Concert and Corporate Productions, Direct Brand Distributors, Go West Tours, HOBAN Recruitment, Lounge Backline, Perth Ice Works, Quayclean, Radlink, St John Ambulance, Sea Containers Perth, Spotless, Ticketmaster and Ultimo Catering.
Keep your eyes peeled to the below sites in the coming days, there will be a bunch of signed merch items up for a silent auction to raise further funds.
A number of Southbound patrons have shown incredible generosity at this time wanting to donate their ticket refund to those affected by the fire, you can do this or donate any nominated amount, via our friends at Moshtix if you feel inclined or to a nominated bushfire relief fund (details to follow). Information on full ticket refunds will be available by Wednesday 13th January, which will include further information on how to donate through the Moshtix platform.
